Animal Grooming
I went to pick up my dog, and noticed that they were not as friendly as they normally are. He complained that they have to use the scissor a lot to trim her, and they have arthritis n their hand. They also told me that my dog was naughty and better me start looking for another groomer.
As soon I got n the car, I noticed that my dog has the left eye completely closed, I called them back and they denied seeing it, and say , that maybe it is a hair in her eye.
I tried to touch her eye to clean the discharge and she scream with pain. So, instead of going back home, I went directly to the vet.
After an Emergency Vet Visit and some test done, vet think she has some kind of chemical inside her eye and he even draw how it looks like.
Vet put her in Antibiotic Eye Drops and pain meds for 7 days. Vet needs to see her back in a week. The first bill was $127 and still I have a new bill in a week.
I called Pet Friendly Groomer and they denied all responsibilities. He even told me that she may have it before getting in their place.
Pet Friendly did not give me a receipt, so is no way I can claim anything. Honestly my intention were to let them know to be careful what they are using, so no another dog get injured. I know they are a small business and I been a loyal customer for many years, so really surprise me their attitude. No remorse or sorry.
I am really upset. I know accidents happen, but I did not like the way Pet Friendly handle it.
Response to the response of Friendly Pet Groomer. I submitted to Angie's List all the documents , that stay by the vet that she had Chemicals in her left eye. Also, that she had her vaccines and is well care.

Complaint: Friendly Pet
Grooming
April 15, 2015
To Whom It May Concern:
You recently received a response to my
complaint from Friendly Pet Grooming containing numerous false claims regarding
the condition of my dog, Phoebe, and the events of her grooming session. I have
been taking my dogs to get groomed at Friendly Pet Grooming for seven years
without incident. However, when the
company caused injury to my Pomeranian, Phoebe, I expected an apology. Instead,
incredibly, I have been accused of lying and of being a negligent pet owner
which I can assure you is not the case.
Phoebe was healthy when she arrived to
get groomed on March 19, 2015. Friendly Pet Grooming?s claim that Phoebe had
discharge in both eyes when she arrived is false. Phoebe gets regular veterinary
care as seen on the attached veterinarian records. On our way home from her grooming appointment
it became apparent that Phoebe had severe pain in her left eye. We went directly to our veterinarian to get
her looked at, who diagnosed that she had had a chemical irritation reaction in
her eye. We did not come up with that diagnosis on our own as we had never had
a problem with the groomer before and never anticipated that they would use
chemicals on or near a dog. However,
when we later called to question the groomer, the response was uncompassionate
and immediate denial, with no regard to Phoebe?s condition.
Friendly Pet Grooming?s reaction to
this incident has been increasingly disappointing. Angie?s List first approached Friendly Pet
Grooming about the incident and their response was that Phoebe had not been
seen since 2012. We paid cash for the
service and were not given a receipt. Therefore, we could not prove that
services had been performed, but asked that the complaint remain on Angie?s
List. Nevertheless, in the response to the Angie?s List Complaint, the company
remembered that Phoebe had in fact been there and came up with a new slew of
lies, including; that she hadn?t been there in three years, disregarding times we
paid cash; that Phoebe did not have her rabies tags or identification, which
she does have as included in the attached records; that she wasn?t picked up
for 6 hours, when they called well after noon to inform us she was ready and we
picked her up before 3pm. Further, Mr.
Rasor contradicts himself. He states in
his letter that they explained to me that they no longer wanted to groom our
dogs if they continued to come in the condition they always do, but then states
that we hadn?t been there in three years.
He did mention that day, at the pick-up,
that he no longer wanted to groom Phoebe because she had been naughty (probably
due to the pain in her eye), yet his letter consistently refers to Phoebe as a
?cute and friendly Pomeranian?. In his letter, Mr. Rasor also stipulated that
Phoebe was ?matted and filthy and her anus and vulva were caked with feces and
urine?. Again, this statement is
false. Though Phoebe?s coat was long
to protect her from the harsh winter this year, I brush Phoebe weekly and trim
her nails regularly and in no way was she caked with urine and feces. Surely dogs are not expected to be trimmed
and washed before bringing them to a groomer. Phoebe is a small 10 lb. dog and
lives inside our home as a member of the family.
In addition to having Phoebe groomed
by Friendly Pet Grooming, we have also had her groomed by our Veterinarian who
will attest to Phoebe?s condition. We
never had a conversation with Mr. Rasor regarding him not wanting to continue
grooming Phoebe due to her condition and consequently, I never promised to
brush Phoebe in the future or begged him to groom her again. The lies continue including claims that I got
mad and slammed the door. This is absurd as there was no confrontation or
argument that would lead to any door slamming.
Phoebe did look cute after her
grooming session and unfortunately, I did not notice her eye injury until we
started driving, I pet her head and she screamed. I called Mr. Rasor who
suggested she might have a hair irritating her eye. He never mentioned that we had brought her in
with discharge in both eyes until his response to Angie?s List. The emergency veterinarian did not have
available appointments but thought the condition was serious enough to fit her
in between the doctor?s scheduled surgeries that same day. Attached, please find the veterinarian?s
findings diagnosing the chemical irritation reaction of the left eye.
Our intent was never to make Mr. Rasor
of Friendly Pet Grooming pay for Phoebe?s treatment, but we did expect some
compassion and an apology from a business we?ve been trusting with my pets for
the past seven years. Our pets are part
of our family. Our other dog, a boxer is
involved in agility and got his Novice
Rally Title at 9 months old.
Although mistakes happen, a simple
apology goes a long way. A company such
as Friendly Pet Grooming, entrusted with our furry family should take
responsibility and acknowledge their mistakes without attacking their
clients. Hence, we filed a complaint
with Angie?s List. A truly caring
business would have expressed concern over Phoebe?s pain instead of fabricating

Response from FRIENDLY PET GROOMING
"[member name removed] brought Phoebe to be groomed on 3-19-15. At that time Phoebe had a discharge or exudate in both eyes. She left the shop with the same bacterial infection-we are groomers not Veterinarians. Phoebe’s 5 ½” fur was matted and filthy. Her anus anus vulva were caked with feces and urine. We soaked her butt in 3” of warm water for 10 minutes before we bathed her. The standard grooming tools—mat breakers, comb and pin brushes were unable to pass through her fur -2 ½ hours was spent slowly removing mats and knots until brushing was possible and the 1” length requested was achieved. Phoebe was last groomed in our shop on 7-13-12--[member name removed] will have cancelled checks. So there was no grooming done on Phoebe for 32 months. Most small long haired dogs are groomed every 8 weeks. Obviously the overall treatment of the dog is predictive of infections. The absence of a dog license, rabies tab and pet finder ID tag on Phoebe’s collar tells a little more. We planned to tell [member name removed] to take Phoebe to a different groomer if she arrived again the way [member name removed] previous Pomeranian always did. However, when a small dog desperately is in need of cleanliness and comfort arrives and looks up at you it is hard to send it away knowing it may be weeks or months before it gets groomed. Phoebe is a small sweet dog who looks you in the eyes and licks your hand while you work on her. She deserves a more attentive owner. [member name removed] promised to pick Phoebe up at 12:00 noon but never returned for pick up till 3:02- 6 hours later—but that is not new for Phoebe. Upon her arrival [member name removed] began to make over Phoebe telling her how beautiful she looked. Phoebe danced until she was picked up and leashed. At that time [member name removed] paid her usual fee of $35.00 and a $5.00 tip. At that time I proceeded to tell her we no longer wished to groom her pets due to the condition they always arrived in. She asked me to re-consider and I declined. She promised to brush Phoebe in the future—my wrists ached from this grooming and I still declined. [member name removed] left extremely mad and slammed the door as hard as she could. Ten minutes later [member name removed] phoned us to say that Phoebe’s eye was blinking. So we went from a beautiful, bright eyed Phoebe to an “injured” Phoebe in 10 minutes. At 9:15 the following day [member name removed] phoned to tell me I had put chemicals in Phoebe’s eyes. We use only baby shampoo, no tears and hypoallergenic on all dogs groomed. Further Pomeranians require no work done on their faces or heads the hair stays the same length. Over 8 years we have learned that when a dog in a very vey bad condition comes in for a very overdue grooming it is very often because the owner wants or needs to take it to the Vet but is ashamed to do so. With 5 Vets in a sparsely populated rural area near by, one can phone a Vet about any type of problem and get an appointment the same day or the next. We think that may explain a lot. We have no interest in paying [member name removed] Vet bill or handing her $40.00 payment back. We are not going to buy our way out of a fabricated even orchestrated by an angry and embarrassed person. I would prefer to spend several thousand dollars on litigation. We keep records on all our customers and the conditions their pets come in. I guess [member name removed] has given us our first black eye---oh well. I also wish to note that our other 9:00 grooming client and 2 12:00 nail cutting clients all agree that the cute little Pomeranian they saw was not blinking her eyes and was very friendly and happy. Yours, Chuck Rasor, owner Friendly Pet Grooming"
