We shopped around a little bit for contractors to remodel our kitchen. The few we spoke to wanted more money or didn't seem professional, so we pursued a contract with Carmen Aker and Aker Construction who had been recommended by our architect. Carmen Aker and his designer Linda Hasz let us take our time to decide on cabinets, countertops, tile, lighting, etc. from samples at their showroom, and then after we had decided on the basics Carmen gave us a price for each aspect of the job. The price seemed reasonable and we were comfortable working with them, so we took the plunge. Work started two months later.
Carmen and his crew of two carpenters and several sub-contractors then stayed on the job uninterrupted until the work was finished, five weeks later. The work included the procurement of permits, the demolition of the old kitchen including a wall, the installation of a door, cabinets, countertop, tin ceiling, tile lighting, plumbing. Crown molding and baseboard molding was added and then the whole thing was finished with paint.
There were no unexpected charges and there were no delays. Everyone who came to our house worked in a professional manner and were friendly and communicative.
