On the invoice, they had charged us $1,350 for the electric water heater. When I called to inquire, they were polite and explained that because it was an emergency, the labor was $420 of that. Fine - I understand it was a Saturday.
That left $930 for the water heater. They put the model and serial number sticker on my invoice, so I went online to find the price for this unit because $930 seemed way too high for a 50 gallon electric water heater....well, I found the MSRP of the unit is $550 (with places selling it as low as $350). When I questioned them about the difference between MSRP and what I was charged, I was told that the supply houses in the area charge what they charge and there isn't much (or anything) they can do about it and that they don't make much money on the products...
My property management firm called and spoke to the owner and was told the same story.... <shrug>
Again, very quick service and I'm told the technician was professional but.... I believe that I was totally ripped off to the tune of about $400.
