W F Smith was by far the most expensive estimate I received. After speaking with Dave at W F Smith and the other 2 contractors I received quotes from I was convinced that the total scope of the project warranted the higher cost. The tank removal took half a day and I can't say enough good things about the subcontractor that was used, professional, on-time and clean. The removal and install of the furnace took 3.5 days and was right on the estimated timing. The crew was very professional, courteous, clean and punctual. The lead technician was great the install was very well thought out. They changed the placement of the furnace, hot water tank and return duct which gave us an extra 30% of usable space in the basement. All of the new ducting, plumbing and gas lines we run clean and neat.
After install the fan and duct noise seemed to be a bit excessive. Dave form W F Smith gave me some DIP switch setting to test and also said they would come over to sound insulate the duct. I'll comment that I was very comfortable changing the DIP switch settings myself and I am sure Dave would have sent someone over if I hadn't mentioned to him that I was already changing the settings on the board. Within a few weeks the lead technician was back at our house to install the sound insulation in the duct work.
I couldn't be happier with the service from W F Smith and any premium that was paid versus the competition was well worth it based on the professionalism and quality of work. As a former electrician I have seen my share of quick installs and hack jobs and the workmanship of W F Smith puts them a cut above the rest. Well worth the additional cost for the piece of mind that the job was done right.

I have a yearly service contract with them. They come out twice a year. They clean the furnace, they put in new filters. If I don't call them to come out and take care of my heating and air conditioning twice a year for the season, they will call me. They are very, very good. They have taken care of me so well, this is why I am recommending them. They have been on a contract with me for at least 25 years. If they didn't do such good work, they wouldn't be on a contract with me. They are superb.
They have worked on my furnace since it was put in, and it was old then. The parts were impossible to get. They have found parts down in the basement of their place to put into my furnace which is a good 25 years old. It got rusted from a mistake I made. They came in, they fixed it. The prices were never high. They will go out of their way. I always have the same guy out. He comes in, he knows my furnace, he knows everything about it. They really do a great job.

Excellent experience. Two other "experts" wanted to replace the whole system (condenser, A-coil, and furnace) for $5,500+. A third, a family friend suggested only the condensing unit needed replacement. WF Smith technician Justin came out promptly the same day of our call. His assessment confirmed what our friend had diagnosed, identified an appropriate replacement unit and scheduled full repairs the next day.
Again Justin and a colleague arrived on time and went to work right away. They explained everything they were doing in easy to understand language. They cleaned up when done and reviewed all the literature and operation of the new unit.
Justin was prompt, courteous, professional, and personable throughout the whole experience. Both of these gentlemen were good representatives for WF Smith.
The price was completely in line with what I expected the work to cost.
Again Justin and a colleague arrived on time and went to work right away. They explained everything they were doing in easy to understand language. They cleaned up when done and reviewed all the literature and operation of the new unit.

Existing HVAC was apprised and a timely proposal was received by mail in a few days. An installation date was made and three men arrived on time and completed the work that day. Work was well done and units registered with manufacturer. Dealer, was somewhat helpful obtaining local permits.

Charged a fixed fee to come out and perform service. They needed some parts to fix the broken duct, which is fair enough. But then kept failing to show up for follow up appointments to fix it, and finally I gave up. I feel I over paid given fixed fee to show up, then they never really did fix the issue. They seemed very competent, they correctly diagnosed and fixed the broken part, and its still working now. But I'm not sure how interested they are in residential customers given they never really followed up to come back to fix my duct. Therefore, very mixed review.

Mr. Smith looked at old unit and provided a prompt written estimate within three days including three possible units to install, and payment details. Mr. Smith included his phone number and was always available for help. He did help with completion of local municipal permit process. Three men completed the work in one day.

He charged me $130 just to visit and tell me that it wasn't the AC, it was the electricity. They are totally competent, but I didn't want that. I think they are expensive, but otherwise they are very competent. It was in the middle of a deep heat and he was in a hurry which I don't blame him for that. I don't like the charge just to come visit and tell me something else is wrong, but I think that's probably pretty standard. They are good and I am considering doing a contract with them, but I am going to price them with. I have 2 ACs and a heater and I am going to look at a contract with them and then they don't charge you for those visits. I went with them because they did the original installation. I will use them unless I can find an equal company that is cheaper.

They have been perfectly fine. They come twice a year to check out the furnace. They come when they say they are going to come, and they notify you to set up the appointment. They call ahead, which is nice, to tell us they are on their way. I do not know much about furnaces, but they haven't tried to sell me anything that I did not want or need, and I have been happy with them.
