The OK: Towel bar had pulled out of the wall, that was reset and seems to be holding. Bedroom door that wasn't closing well was planed down at the top, I'm not really sure why I paid for that particular solution in retrospect, but was kind of buying into a grab bag, but fine. Kitchen counter caulked where it met the wall, again, not hard work, but fine. The Wasted Money: My front and back door sweeps seemed to have gaps you could see through to the outside and were coming apart. Since it's a pain to get under doors, I was good to pay a little extra for someone else to take that on. Replacement front sweep is already split again almost immediately. New back door sweep is still intact, but I guess as a "solution" the sill was raised and now there's a new gap there that the rain came through a few days ago. Also, under a section on my invoice somewhat brazenly labeled "custom carpentry" considering the end product, an estimate was given for replacing some of a wood rotted door frame as needed (even including "Reinstall brick molding as needed"). A lower piece of the frame was replaced with some solid wood, but it was seriously just cut out and hunk of wood thrown in. You can't miss it even at a glance, so we're at the barest definition of carpentry on that. But then on the top of the door, the wood was just dug out and replaced with layer after layer of putty. That's fine for a small job, but there was too much replacement needed here to not be replaced with actual wood. And the quote mentioning installing new wood and possibly brick molding was much more indicative of the work needed. The work performed still very much flexes at the touch and has started to visibly come apart again as any person would expect. And of course the shabby paint job done over it still leaves the "repair" very obvious as no effort was expended (or more likely wasn't in the capabilities of the "carpenter") to blend it with the frame. So a job that I very much paid to not be done, and that took a whole handful of visits even to be not completed. Also followed up with a plumbers referral from them and that worker also came up short as should be expected. Definitely would not transact with this company again.

Dealing with the office and scheduling the work was very smooth and the office staff were very professional and responsive. However, the technican assigned to the job was very unprofessional, rude and condescending and difficult to work with. While the price was good, it was not worth the money I saved, as the whole thing was such an unpleasant experience in the end.

The service was excellent. I had used the service in 2013 and was very pleased then and I am pleased now. The plumber was punctual, was able to diagnose and repair the problem quickly. The handyman who performed the other tasks was meticulous with the painting and caulking and gluing. Both gentlemen arrived on time which in South Philadelphia is a real plus. I thought the price was fair.

We used The Home Hero for a few jobs that were out of my realm of expertise. From start to finish, it was a high quality and professional experience. Scheduling with Leah at the office was smooth and easy, and the guys arrived on time knowing exactly what they were going to do. Todd was able to complete pretty much everything on our to-do list, and the quality of his work was exceptional. Not only that, but his overall demeanor and personality were top notch. When one of the jobs was bigger than expected, Pete worked with me to determine a fair price to have an additional visit with more manpower. The second job was completed within a week and again, the work was great and the guys were 100% professional. I will gladly recommend The Home Hero and its team of handymen to anyone in need of their services. You will not be disappointed!

Handyman was very professional and completed all tasks in a timely fashion. Updated us any time there was an issue or something he needed input for. Offered suggestions when there was something he thought could be done differently.

Randall was able to work out how to access the drum shade light fixtures. I was grateful that he was able to recommend the right size longer-lasting LED bulbs (a big plus because I am unable to change them myself.)

The people who come to the house are all friendly, talented, and trustworthy. They come with a task list and don't leave until it is all completed. I am completely comfortable with them being in my home and certain that the work will be done right.

I like the ease of giving a list of different tasks and having it completed in one visit rather than coordinating with multiple people.

I am an interior designer, and am very picky about my home.
I have had a problem with contractors before if you correct something they are doing, but NEVER with the Home Hero guys.
They truly live by the customer is always right. 
The baby-proofing they did was amazing, their materials were right on target and blend seamlessly with our interiors.  We get compliments all the time on how great it looks.

Prompt, excellent service. Both the technician and the receptionist were pleasant and professional, which is a nice change from some contractors.

The handyman that was sent by the company was a nice person overall. He arrived on time and was polite. My issues with the service and the company include:

1) the supply run taking 1/3 of my allotted time AND costing me an additional $100: I didn't know about this cost until AFTER the fact;
2) work areas being left with paint drips and water/paint splashes on appliances and fixtures: it took me about 20 minutes to clean up; and
3) the company charging me for items that a) should have been part of a standard tool kit b) were not left with me upon leaving.

I've done work on over 10 homes personally and have good sense of what services and supplies should cost. I wanted to try this company based on the reviews, but this experience left me feeling like I was ripped off.

I did speak with the company's service manager at length. While he offered to deduct some of the supplies off my bill, he didn't hear--or want to concede--what I deemed to be a very poor value for the services rendered. He offered to send the handyman back to clean, but it was too little to late. He offered to deduct $20 for supplies and said I would get a $50 credit for a future service. But why would I invite this company back in my home only to over bill me for a half-assed job? My time as the customer was not considered. Very disappointing...

It went great. They took their time and were 100% dedicated to the job.

Ron did a beautiful job.He had done some other work previously hanging curtain rods and installing ceiling lights. He may take a little longer but does quality work and always follows up. He and Pete are both very competent professionals, reliable, considerate and honest. I highly recommend their services.

Overall, we were happy with the service.  We contacted home hero via email. The office manager responded promptly and got Pete (the owner) out to do an estimate very quickly. They were definitely very good at being responsive which honestly is hard to come by. We contacted other places and never heard back at all. Pete gave us an itemized list with pricing the next day. We agreed and they started the work 4/27.  They arrived promptly at the 9am start time every day, were very polite and professional, and did a very nice job making sure to clean up the dust and debris leftover at the end of the day leaving us with a clean home. The work looks good to me. We are not handy people and we're glad  that home hero could come out so quickly and do all the stuff we needed to get done in a timely manner.

I was disappointed in Home Hero. I had heard good things and I liked the owner of the company who showed up to give me an estimate, but it turns out he farms out the work to subcontractors, so any review you are likely to read of this company may not apply to the person who does your work. The subcontractor who did my work was a retiree and it was his first job for Home Hero. He broke a decorative item of ours taking it off the wall, after I asked him if he wanted me to remove the items from the wall (he said no, they were not in the work area). This man also had strong body odor. Mostly, I was disappointed in the quality of his work. He missed a spot in patching the popcorn ceiling so that the fabric tape now shows through, and he missed spots in the painting so that I had to go back and touch it up. Home Hero was not cheap and the job was too sloppy for the price. If you use this company, you should collect a reference for the individual who is actually going to do the work. The owner hires subcontractors, and if the man who did my work is to be believed, does not pay them much.

In the process of selling and moving out of my home, one of the last things we did was take the TV down from above the fireplace. It was a MESS. The area above the fireplace has dry wall over cement and more than the TV mount came with down with the removal and the ceiling had soot marks from the heat from the TV and fireplace. Long story short, I was referred to Home Hero by my realtor, Jon Fink (STRONGLY recommend if selling in Philadelphia). I called Home Hero on a Thursday night and left a message explaining what I was up against. Pete Rose called me the next morning and discussed the task at hand. He had a completely booked schedule since I had less than a week before settlement, but was able to squeeze us in. He matched the paint and you would never even know a TV was ever there. He was kind, quick, professional and his prices were beyond fair. The buyer was very happy when he did his walk through and this could have gone very badly had I not found Home Hero. I would use them again and would recommend them to anyone!

things to say about The Home Hero crew.
My husband and I found ourselves in a time crunch last October when we finally acknowledged we needed to repair our decrepit kitchen floor before his hip replacement surgery in November. Not having good experiences dealing with contractors in the past, I guardedly contacted The Home Hero to get an estimate for the work. The day of our initial appointment with Pete I was held up at work so my husband met with him to explain what we had in mind. Imagine my surprise when I got home to hear my typically cynical husband say we should hire The Home Hero and he did not think we needed to speak with any other contractors. I KNEW at that moment that The Home Hero had to be something special. Believe me, I was not disappointed.
Despite the fact that I was well aware of the tight time frame for getting the floor replaced, before Pete’s crew could begin I convinced my husband that it made sense to renovate the powder room since it was right off the kitchen. Each time I added
a new project to the ever-increasing inventory of work to be performed, Pete patiently and humorously revised his estimates (at least four times).
Once i finally stopped with the additional requests, Pete provided us with the final estimate and the work was scheduled. Let
me tell you, if I did not feel comfortable using The Home Hero at that point (Though, I DID!), I certainly would have after meeting The Home Hero crew – Jeff and Steve. Where did Pete find a crew as friendly, knowledgeable, patient, trustworthy and skilled as he is?
Jeff and Steve were a pleasure to have around and I never felt inconvenienced by their presence. In fact, I felt so comfortable with them being in the house that I didn’t have any reservations giving them the house key. Not only did I find Jeff and Steve to be dependable and approachable, they were also very skilled. They found solutionsfor the many issues that came with renovating my old house with its uneven floors and outdated plumbing.
So, even with the very tight time line, my numerous additional requests requiring revised estimates, and the need to find creative solutions to the issues that arose when renovating my old house, The Home Hero gave us a beautiful new powder room and stylish kitchen floor. As you can probably tell, my husband and I are extremely satisfied with our experience with The Home Hero. I cannot
imagine calling anyone else when we start the next project in our home.
