It went great. Reid was honest and fast. He didn't try to gin up business, and he made me aware of some issues I had under the hood. After checking with a friend who's a mechanic, they verified that Reid was correct with his diagnosis. Pleasure to work with.

While the others weren't able to repair my vehicle, I appreciated the time Reid's took to check out my car and evaluate the problem.

Jim Reid is the owner/operator of this garage.  He and a partner run a small efficient shop in South Philly.  This was my first time going there, so I held back on grading him higher until he does more work on my car.
The shop is modest, but clean.  Mike is hands-on, direct and easy to talk to.  His partner seems also very proficient, but I did not talk to him.
I went to Mike convinced that my upper control arms bushings needed to be replaced on my 2003 BMW 525 wagon to correct hard vibrations when braking from 60 to 40 miles per hour, which I had read on blogs about the car was a problem with the bushings.  Jim checked the wheels and did not see anything to support that, instead he told me that I needed new brake rotors.  My previous mechanic had replaced them twice in the past couple of years, so I doubted it, but I went with Jim' call and he was right.  He could have made more money replacing the bushings, but he stuck to what he was seeing.
Mike also found that my headcover gasket was leaking oil, which had flooded two ignition coils and caused a couple of the spark plugs to stop firing.  He replaced the gasket and the two ignition coils, and the car is running fine now.
His pricing was fair, and much less than a BMW dealership.  More importantly, he did not waste any time or money on work that was not needed.

Jim was very upfront with me when I asked "it it worth it" type questions. My car is 20 years old and we use it as a backup car and just local driving. At my routine inspection he looked into a few issue I was having. He was honest about the windsheild fluid motor, it didn't work and he suggest I not waste my money fixing it. He checked out my tires which I thought were low, found I had a nail in one of them and repaired the tire. He also changed a brake light.
I know that all sounds pretty routine and basic and it was. But I was in and out so fast it was impressive. I'm also thrilled because he is in my neighborhood and has a key drop. I will definitely use Reids Auto again!
