He explained the options for my floor and installed the molding as promised in a few hours. My floors now look complete!

Day one was the most difficult part, replacing damaged floor boards and sanding the floor. Andy and his crew showed up Saturday morning 7:30a, set up shop and were getting busy by 8:00a and finished around 6:00p that evening. With just the repairs and sanding alone, the floor looked brand new. The floors looked so good I thought about doing a natural wood look. But I for personal requirements I chose to go with a stain. Day two was the stain and first coat of polyurethane. Day three was the second coat of polyurethane. This part was done fairly quickly. The process of vetting contractors can be daunting. As a result, that initial contact is very important. Andy, the owner of Pro Hardwood Flooring, was very tuned in to those things. He is upfront about pricing and the expectations of the end result. Also, he had no issues with presenting license and insurance information. Andy does his own work. The same person you give the money to is the same person who shows up and does the job from beginning to end. Despite his young age, Andy is passionate about his trade/craft and understands what it takes to grow a business.

Andy at Pro Hardwood Floors transformed 2 of my stairways into a thing of beauty. He removed the carpet and put oak stair treads and risers - staining to match my existing floors. Additionally, we had Pro Hardwood Floors install pre-finished hard wood floors on the 2 stair landings, and upstairs hall and bedroom. Andy at Pro Hardwood Floors is professional, prompt, and his attention to detail with his craftsmanship is second to none. We were so pleased with his work we are having him out again in May to put hardwood flooring in our other three bedrooms. Bottom line -- excellent work at a fair price.

I saw his work originally through Facebook. I had contacted him after noticing his reviews on Angie's List. He responded immediately. He had all the credentials I was looking for including a license and great insurance. He made an appointment to meet me immediately. He was so nice all the way through. The only concern was he did not move the furniture. He laid yellow pine hardwood with an inlay design. My neighbors were blown away. I would want Andy to come back and sand my existing floors the only problem is he would not move my furniture.

Andy got back to me about a day after I called and he was able to meet me in the evening on a weekday to look at the project. He explained exactly what he and his team would be doing, and after inspecting the floors he said they will probably only need a good refinishing, rather than replacement of any boards. I asked him to use water-based polyurethane because the oil-based is worse for the environment and also produces fumes for a long time in the house. He told me it was considerably more expensive ($200), but he was very agreeable about using it and he showed me the product before they started. He set a date to do the work, about 10 days later, and he was able to do the work over the weekend, which was very convenient for me. When he arrived he sanded down a particularly bad spot of the floor to show me how it would turn out when finished, and it looked fantastic. He called me later on the first day and sent me photos and reported on the progress. On the second day he called and told me when the floors could be walked on again, which was just a few hours after he finished. When I saw the results I was blown away, because it was a complete transformation. The color and condition of the wood was beautiful and the finish was very nice and smooth, with the satin finish I requested. I thought I would have a big dust situation afterward, but that was not the case. The upstairs (the floors that were worked on) had virtually zero dust. There was a very fine layer of dust in the downstairs floor, but it was very light and came up with a quick regular dusting job. The only thing I wish had gone a little differently is that in filling the gaps between boards, the large gaps were filled well, and we had agreed the small gaps were not going to be filled, but there were a number of medium-size spots that I think should have gotten filler, and maybe that wouldn't have been an issue if I had been more precise about what I considered a "small" gap. But this did not detract from the look of the floors or the texture. And on the other hand Andy went above and beyond by doing a little repair to a few spots where the floor boards had come up a little, to re-secure them to the joists. All in all it was a beautiful job done at a reasonable price in a very convenient fashion. I'm very pleased with the results and highly recommend this service!
