We are not insured to come out to a persons home and service a Central Vacuum system. However, any part of a Central Vacuum system that can be brought into our location we can repair or replace at generally substantially reduced prices compared to the specialty installers.

Vacuum Cleaners
My "quality" vacuum cleaner, the Simplicity 7 series, was rated the worst upright vacuum by Consumer Reports, this I found out several months after I purchased the vacuum for nearly $900.00 (with bags, tax, etc). So now, I have an overpriced so-so vacuum cleaner. When I went in and told them of my discovery in Consumer Reports, they told me that they were not aware of that report. Ignorance is bliss. Second. I took my father in law there to get a replacement for his steam cleaning vacuum, the salesman told him that he would need to spend so much that it would be in his best interest to just buy a new one from his shop. When I said that we just wanted the part, he said that he couldn't say when he could get the part in. And he tried further to sell his own used steam vac by saying that it would be a good option to just buy his used machine and he would benefit by getting an additional year of warranty. If I hadn't been there, that salesman would have convinced my 85 y.o. recently widowed father in law that he would benefit from buying a used machine versus a part. My father in law thanked me profusely after we left the shop admitting that he was feeling overwhelmed and was confused by all of what the man was saying. Pushing an old man to buy something tha the doesn't need or want is really despicable. Finally, just yesterday, I got a call from the shop saying that vacuum cleaner bags that I had ordered from them A MONTH AGO finally came in. I expected to get change from them, I had put a deposit of $20. to order the bags. I went in and was told that the balance was $23.00!!! When I said that was too much, they said that they didn't make the bags any longer. So, I paid for them. When I got home, my husband looked the bags up on Amazon and saw that there were boxes of my vacuum cleaner bags as low as $4.00!!! I paid $43.00 for 3 boxes of 6 bags. I will NEVER EVER go there again, and I will tell everyone I know not to give those crooks any business. Unless you have money to throw away, don't go there.

"Modern Vac & Sew Centers has been in business since 1950. We take great pride in our workmanship & customer satisfaction. We will go out of our way to resolve any issue but unfortunately cannot make a happy customer if they do not let us know of a problem. To answer the member's attack on us we would like to state the following and get the facts right; 1st-This client purchased a Simplicity 7750 vacuum cleaner from us in October 2009 for $499.95 plus tax, with free bags, (NOT $900.00!!). To the best of our knowledge there has been no problems or issues with this vacuum during the last 3 years. No-one tests, repairs, services, demonstrates, and maintains more vacuum cleaners than people like us thus when a Modern Vac employee recommends a product we know it will be effective and long lasting. Consumer Reports may be a barometer but their opinions change regularly and are far from 100% perfect. Who better to trust for advise than the very people who are willing to stand behind the products they recommend? 2nd-The member came into our store with an older man who was looking to buy a part for a steam vac. Unfortunately, he did not have the old item that he wanted to replace, nor the brand & model number, with him. We explained that we would happily order any part and assumed he would come back with the appropriate part & required information. While they were in the store an associate simply showed them we had a good deal, with a very low price, on a factory serviced (fully warranted) Hoover steam vac. The gentleman seemed interested but the member seemed annoyed. 3rd-We apparently sold the member "3" packages of vacuum cleaner bags, for approximately $39.00 plus tax, which nets out to approx. $13.00 per pack. We only wish our profit structure was as outrageous as the member suggests. Since we monitor these things, I am sure there are some items on the internet at slightly lower prices than ours but when something seems to good to be true it generally is fake!! As most people are becoming aware a good deal of information presented on the internet is being mis-represented. Modern Vac & Sew Centers purchases merchandise as low as any internet company and would not have survived all these years if we were not extremely competitive and price conscience. In conclusion the management and staff at Modern Vac & Sew Centers attempt to treat every potential customer like family. Whether selling or servicing we educate, demonstrate and appreciate everyones business. Leonard Kitchman"
