 + -1 moreMy "quality" vacuum cleaner, the Simplicity 7 series, was rated the worst upright vacuum by Consumer Reports, this I found out several months after I purchased the vacuum for nearly $900.00 (with bags, tax, etc). So now, I have an overpriced so-so vacuum cleaner. When I went in and told them of my discovery in Consumer Reports, they told me that they were not aware of that report. Ignorance is bliss. Second. I took my father in law there to get a replacement for his steam cleaning vacuum, the salesman told him that he would need to spend so much that it would be in his best interest to just buy a new one from his shop. When I said that we just wanted the part, he said that he couldn't say when he could get the part in. And he tried further to sell his own used steam vac by saying that it would be a good option to just buy his used machine and he would benefit by getting an additional year of warranty. If I hadn't been there, that salesman would have convinced my 85 y.o. recently widowed father in law that he would benefit from buying a used machine versus a part. My father in law thanked me profusely after we left the shop admitting that he was feeling overwhelmed and was confused by all of what the man was saying. Pushing an old man to buy something tha the doesn't need or want is really despicable. Finally, just yesterday, I got a call from the shop saying that vacuum cleaner bags that I had ordered from them A MONTH AGO finally came in. I expected to get change from them, I had put a deposit of $20. to order the bags. I went in and was told that the balance was $23.00!!! When I said that was too much, they said that they didn't make the bags any longer. So, I paid for them. When I got home, my husband looked the bags up on Amazon and saw that there were boxes of my vacuum cleaner bags as low as $4.00!!! I paid $43.00 for 3 boxes of 6 bags. I will NEVER EVER go there again, and I will tell everyone I know not to give those crooks any business. Unless you have money to throw away, don't go there.
Description of Work: I have had 3 separate experiences with this store. One to purchase a vacuum cleaner, two to find a replacement part for a steam clean vacuum for my elderly parent, and three, to purchase vacuum cleaner bags. We only have one other vacuum cleaner store in the area, and the other store is very small and has inconvenient hours and bad parking. The first experience with Modern Vac & Sew was on Mothers Day weekend 2 years ago. My husband wanted me to get a 'quality' vacuum cleaner because of my tendency to wear out lower strength vacuum cleaners. I explained my household situation (pets, kids, etc) and they insisited that the Simplicity 7 series was the best vacuum they had. The second experience, my father in law asked me if I knew of a place who would have a replacement part for his Hoover steam clean vacuum, and the only local place that I could think of was Modern Vac & Sew. The third experience was recently I needed to get replacement bags for my Electrolux vacuum cleaner. My experience with those 3 transactions with Modern Vac & Sew is below.

We are not insured to come out to a persons home and service a Central Vacuum system. However, any part of a Central Vacuum system that can be brought into our location we can repair or replace at generally substantially reduced prices compared to the specialty installers.
