John and his staff were consummate professionals. They were independent, respectful, superbly helpful, extremely neat and true devoted craftsmen. You can tell by speaking with John that he REALLY cares about the work and is invested in your property. He made suggestions during the job that not only upgraded the initial quality of what we were looking for but saved us a bit of money in the end. He is honest with the state of the work that needed to be done and make outstanding creative suggestions when asked for his opinion (color, style blend, etc). His team was like ghosts, they did not stray from the work/ staging areas and were essentially ghosts - the only signs of their presence was the completed work. It was done about a week faster than they anticipated and honestly looks better than we hoped. Amazing work, I wish we found them sooner. I'd hire John 10/10 times if I had to do it over. he definitely over-delivered for us.

I cannot say enough good things about Mitchell Renovations. I was nervous about undertaking a large home project (kitchen renovation), but John and Sara made it so easy from start to finish. One thing that I truly valued was that I was never made to feel like I asked a "stupid" question or made an unreasonable request. Sarah designed a beautiful yet functional space and John brought the design to life with his meticulous installation. John paid attention to every last detail during install and troubleshooted issues as they came up. Mitchell Renovations seemed just as invested in my project as I was. As an example, John was present when the countertop was installed and even offered suggestions to the vendor during the templating process. John renovated our kitchen this past spring and we're so glad we found him! From design to build, it was a great all around experience. He was professional, personable, and most importantly on budget. We loved the final product and plan to retain his services in the future.

We interviewed four contractors prior to John and screened several more. We had almost given up hope that our kitchen upgrades were within our budget. We were so relieved when we met John and his wife Sarah. They provided us with renewed hope and put together an IKEA galley kitchen design that we previously thought would not fit in our space. Spoiler: It works perfectly. John and Sarah provided us great advice through the design phase. Once the construction work started, our happiness with John and his team only increased. John is extremely detail-oriented and clean and he only works with like-minded vendors. The first floor of our home was kept extremely clean during the entire construction process. Floor protection, a dust shield on the kitchen space itself and constant vacuuming and cleaning by John’s crew ensured that we never felt like the construction was overtaking the house and my wife, who was pregnant at the time, didn’t have to worry. This is the biggest project so far as newer homeowners and we were very pleased with John’s attention to detail and communication skills. We got to the point in the project where we trusted him to make decisions on our behalf because his attention to detail was so great. I remember several times walking the site after the crew left for the day and making mental notes of things I wanted to mention to John and the next day when he arrived, he would bring them up in conversation as if he anticipated my questions. Questions were encouraged, and none were considered too small or silly. John consulted us on little things I wouldn’t have thought of like cabinet layout enhancements and tile backsplash layout options. I also watched him recut a trim piece several times to ensure it was the perfect fit and not just an adequate fit. Most contractors would have been content with the first one and moved on, but not John. John is also generally a nice guy. Unrelated to the remodel, a pipe froze in another part of our house and he gave us advice on how to thaw it and followed up over the weekend to check on us. We highly recommend John Mitchell. He and Sarah helped us envision our ideal kitchen and made us realize it within budget while remaining communicative throughout the process. We felt informed and in good hands the entire job and plan to use him for our full bathroom remodel in the future. Our kitchen went from being our least favorite room to our favorite and receives daily use and has held up great.

We love our new kitchen!! John was extremely helpful throughout the entire process of renovating our kitchen with IKEA cabinets. John was very professional and detailed beginning with the estimate, which made us more comfortable during the stressful process. John provided suggestions as the job went on and the kitchen turned out even better than we expected. John took care of everything including demolition of a wall, electric, plumbing, tiling, reworking an AC duct, and building/installing the IKEA cabinets. The work area was kept very clean and organized. John was easy to get a hold of during the renovation and was always available to address any questions or concerns that we had. John Mitchell is a highly experienced professional who pays a lot of attention to the details. I was forced to fire that contractor. I called John Mitchell, he made an appointment to come out, inspected the job, reported to work on the decided upon date and time. He arrived at 8 am promptly and worked until late afternoon. He is the expert, professional,extremely organized, neat, and cleans up after he finishes for the day. John finished the job in 2 days. It was the best money I have spent in years. HE IS WONDERFUL. HE FIXED CABINETS THAT MY CONTRACTOR HAD INSTALLED INCORRECTLY. HE ADDED FINISHING TOUCHES WITHOUT BEING ASKED BECAUSE HE KNEW WHAT TO DO, AND TAKES PRIDE IN HIS WORK. WHEN I CAME HOME FROM WORK ON DAY 2, HE HAD FINISHED AND LEFT, AND I WAS SO SURPRISED. Amazing! So happy with the service and the final product. Pros: - Provided a thorough estimate and professional contract - One of the most professional contractors I have ever worked with...responsive to calls and emails, punctual, and SO CLEAN (he keeps his work space meticulous and he was respectful of my house) - To keep the project on schedule, he actually went to Ikea to replace any broken materials or pick up extra -- provided receipts for reimbursement - Customized my sink base cabinet to accommodate my apron front sink - Installed my over-the-range microwave - I ran into some issues with some other contractors of mine, and he gave me great advice on how to move forward - Came back to the kitchen a week or so after all the cabinets were installed to ensure everything still looked and worked right...he made some adjustments to some doors and drawers for me I loved working with him and I can't wait for him to come back and help me with my bathrooms.

John completed installations of 3 IKEA bathroom vanities and we are very satisfied with his work.

We were so lucky to find John Mitchell. We renovated a kitchen long distance and things couldn’t have gone smoother. John’s wife, Sarah, is a designer and we began with her exploring possible layouts. She helped us to squeeze out every last inch of space and had some creative solutions to deal with space constraints. We wanted to install an Ikea kitchen, and selected John largely because of his years of experience installing kitchens for Ikea, and we got so much more. John is detail oriented and thorough. He was great in communicating, keeping me in the loop and sending pictures often. He’s straightforward and practical. He’s a “can do” kind of guy. John helped us turn an ugly and dysfunctional kitchen and adjacent room into a beautiful, efficient kitchen, laundry room and powder room. It was a pleasure to work with John and Sarah. I would recommend him without reservations.

John's work is impeccable. He completed an installation of IKEA cabinets in the kitchen and laundry room. We originally were going to use the group that IKEA recommended but in discussions with them, some things just didn’t sit right. We found John on Google. From our very first conversation, we knew we found the right person. His rates are quite reasonable for the quality and attention that he brings to the project. We did the design ourselves and as it turned out, not bad overall. But how I wish I had found him before the installation at the design phase!! Before he started, he laid out the kitchen on the wall, which immediately showed some of the things we had missed. John had a number of great suggestions, some of which we could implement and some we couldn't because we already had committed to the design. Luckily he caught that the island was too long and would interfere with the operation of the refrigerator. John knew every little trick for the IKEA cabinets. He works fast and very neat. The kitchen was picked up each night so there was never a mess. John is a full service contractor and we are having him back to complete the backsplash tile. IF YOU WANT AN IKEA KITCHEN YOU MUST HIRE JOHN. Try to get him involved early if you can.

It was a pleasure working with John Mitchell. He was always very responsive, he and his team always left the work space clean, and respected the rules of the condominium association for work by contractors. John always kept me well informed on the status of the project so there were no surprises, responded to phone calls or text messages right away, and the finished product looks great. I would definitely work with John again if another project arises.

We had a very positive experience with Mitchell Renovations. We had a complete kitchen renovation and are very happy with John's work. He was thorough, professional and kept the work zone clean and organized. We have a young child and John was very considerate of her; often he was able to adjust what he was working on as to not interrupt our schedule as much. It's clear he has a lot of experience and I appreciated his judgment. The quality of the work has been excellent and John has followed up multiple times to ensure we weren't having any issues. The timeline for the work took two more weeks than originally suggested, but we did add some extra projects and ran into a couple issues. He kept us up to date with how long he expected things to run. Overall we are very happy with our decision to use Mitchell Renovations and would use them again for additional work.

He was a miracle. The original contractor took a year and half and still didn't finish. John Mitchell came in here and finished it in 2 days. The original contractor didn't know what to do. He was out of his league. John Mitchell came in and fixed it and not only did he  do what he was supposed to do, he did extra things to make my kitchen look so much nicer that he didn't really have to do. He was amazing. I would highly recommend him. He was extremely neat and organized. He is amazing. He is an expert.

From the first day John showed up we knew we were in good hands. He and his staff were very professional and always on time and courteous. They treated our home as they would have wanted their own home treated. They made a disruptive/stressful project much easier. John saw what we really needed in our cabinets and made necessary modifications to give us more space and extra drawers over the original design submitted by the IKEA kitchen planner. Their workmanship was meticulous. The plumbing and electrical work were expertly done. They completed their work before the original scheduled completion date. We had the countertop installed by an IKEA subcontractor. John was back to hook up our water/dishwasher less than 24 hours after the countertop was installed. We had put off our kitchen installation because of horror stories we had heard from our friends about contractors. We found John on Angie's list and have been exceedingly pleased with the flawless work that John and his company have done. Mitchell Renovations is a gem, we are so happy we found them. In fact we are going to have John replace our 30 year old deck!

Renovation went very well. Work was very satisfactory, including significant tile work, and was completed on time.

We could not be happier. John is the ultimate professional. When we first decided on an IKEA kitchen we went to Angie's List and the name Mitchell Renovations rose right to the top of all choices. John had installed hundreds, if not thousands of IKEA kitchens over the years. When John first visited our home we felt comfortable with him. He was thorough, honest and professional. Every suggestion he made was obviously in our best interest and well thought out. He told us exactly what to expect. When we decided to accept his proposal we never, even for an instant, had any doubts. John told us the project would take 6 to 8 weeks and that is exactly how long it took. As the project moved forward there were instances where changes had to be made. John discussed each of them with us before moving forward. I should add that when the counter top fabricators came to the house to install the quartz countertops they commented on how perfect everything was. Everything was level and everything fit! We had to live out of other areas of the house during construction and would be in and out a lot so we gave John a key. Each and every day when we returned we found everything in perfect order - the house was locked, all rubbish and packing had been removed, the place was swept clean, dust shields were in place. In summary, we made an excellent choice and if we have any additional projects John Mitchell will be our first telephone call.

Overall this was a very positive experience.  John and his crew did an amazing job with our kitchen.  I have already told a few coworkers to keep him in mind if they have a remodel planed.    At any point where we had to have something changed or moved, even just a few inches, there was never argument or condescending instruction as to why the change shouldn’t be made.  Instead, the next day, the switch would be made.  He also let us know if he saw an opportunity to improve something as well.    Such as have the side boards of our island extend to the close off the seating.  We mentioned a desire to recess our fridge into the wall to gain space and he was able to do that for us and now we have a full size fridge but with the look of a counter depth fridge.   Two other points to mention about the work john did that the pictures below will not convey.  I warned my neighbors about potential noise from construction.  They asked me a week into construction if the the guy started yet or was done.  We live in a row home, so noise travels very easily, yet john kept the noise level so low that they never knew they were there.   The second thing that was great was the care taken with keeping the rest of the home and work space clean.  At no point did we find damage from carelessness in anyway.

John was in and out in no time and I absolutely love my space. He was honest and he worked with my vision. I couldn't not ask for a better kitchen.

We had great confidence in John and his team that our dream home could be re-created in this challenging space and we were delighted with the outcome.
We were under considerable pressure to complete the renovation in a short time period.  The apartment is in a 1950s high rise in Center City with multiple restrictions and conditions.  The construction features concrete interior walls.  In spite of the challenges the demo was completed in a remarkably short time. John worked successfully with the building management to expedite the project and provide the required documentation.  John and his skilled team were tireless in keeping to the timetable and work was completed as promised and with great attention to detail and expert craftsmanship.  To give an example of the kind of thoughtfulness we saw on many levels, one of John?s team went to our neighbors in apartments on each side and above to let them know that they were doing work, could expect some noise and  let them know if there were any problems.  
To our delight, the new space is elegant and airy, and everything we had hoped for.  We recommend John without reservation.
