My snow thrower broke and I could start the engine. Mike fixed it. He also did the maintenance for my lawn mower. He did a great job. I will hire him again.

I want my money and my snow blower back. They have no insurance and I gave them my serial number and the model number on 01/25/2016.

4/6/2016 Mike and Ellen Killian still have not replaced my snowblower with one equal to or better than mine. A representative from Ariens has advised that a new replacement equal to mine would cost approximately $1100 + tax. Ariens also noted that a snowblower can be expected to last 20 years or more, so mine at 7 years old in relatively new. Whereas Mike's Small Engine Repair did not replace mine lost by them, was unresponsive in resolving the problems, in the face of a forecast snow storm I found and purchased a used replacement for $850. Rather than replace mine with a new one costing $1100.00, as they should have in a timely manner if they couldn't/didn't find a comparable unit to mine, I offered that they simply reimburse me the $850. They refused.
Also, contrary to what they wrote, the snowblower they left me DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY! The electric start does not work. Also, as stated before, it is older, smaller, and in poorer physical condition compared to mine that they lost.

It is now 13 months since they picked up my snowblower.

Response from Mike's Small Engine Repair
"We would very much like an opportunity to resolve this matter, and welcome a mediator to the process Snowblowers that came into the shop during the Spring and Summer months were not looked at until the beginning of late October. Since we only had one Ariens snow blower at the shop in late October, Mike, the owner and technician, assumed that it belonged to this customer. There was no name on the unit. Initial testing revealed that the unit had major engine problems, and that some disassembly and inspection would be required. Eventually, an estimate for repairs was given, approved, and the snow blower was delivered to the customer, and he paid for the repairs. At that time, he said, "That's not my snowblower!" I was mystified, but with a major snow storm in the next day's forecast, we left the snowblower with him so he would have something to use. I promised to look in to the matter the following week and I did follow through. It was time consuming, but I checked all customer invoices from early March through Jan 21st, and found that no other Ariens snowblowers matching the description and model number of this customer's had been worked on. We were forced to conclude that unfortunately, his snowblower had been stolen. Equipment is secured within a fenced in property, with a locked gate. We had not been negligent, but in spite of our best efforts, something had gone wrong. Our initial offer, to try and resolve the problem, was to allow the customer to keep the snow blower we had delivered and to refund what he had paid for repairs. The snow blower we delivered was an Ariens, with a 24'' clearing swath and an electric starter (as was his) and it was in good working order. It started and ran, belts, auger, impeller, and chute were fully operational. He refused. Next, we looked into replacing his snowblower with a used one -- something comparable that would meet his demands. Several weeks were spent looking, but to date, the search has not panned out. I would like more time to keep looking, but I realize that it's now been a month, an appropriate replacement snow blower is just not on the market at this time, and I fully understand this customer's frustration about further delays. Mike and I do feel that we would like to offer some compensation, but believe that the amount should be something closer to the actual value of his missing snowblower, factoring in some depreciation. It was 7 years old, was used, not new, and some sort of service or repairs were needed or he would not have contacted us in the first place."

These guys are amazing.  I have used them before off season with good results.
I called with a snow blower problem (set of blades not working) in the morning. They came out to my house that night and fixed the issues perfectly. It also works much better. Amazing service and speed, especially with all of the snow in the area. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Mike and his team were professional and efficient. I wasn't sure what the issue was and thought it may have been much more expensive than it was. I was very satisfied and will use Mike again for my small engine repairs and service.

One cavil:  It does take a bit to get all this arranged (nearly 6 months in my case) but the final result was well worth the effort.  The unit came back clean, operating well (like new) and ready for the first snowflake.  I is a happy camper.
Response from Mike's Small Engine Repair
"It was a pleasure doing business with this customer, and we very much appreciated his patience waiting for pick-up of his snow blower. He called in May to request snow blower service when we were busy repairing lawn mowers, lawn tractors, trimmers, etc. -- these jobs couldn't wait. His wait time was not typical. Rest assured, if you need something serviced or repaired soon and it's the season to use it, your turn around time will be speedy!"

I arrived with my WeedEater in hand.  I told Mike what my problems were with the blower and symptoms; having problems starting and restarting the blower... some times the starter rope would not retract all the way back into the blower.  He was an excellent listener.  Mike checked out my recently purchase WeedEater Gas Blower. Then he made an adjustment... let the blower warm up... shut it down!  First  try on a re-start and the blower purred like a kitten.
Mike is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions about proper use and maintenance, gasoline mixture and storage for the off season. I would highly recommend Mike Kilian and Small Engine Repair to anyone who wants a true professional.

Great service.  Just the kind of small engine repair place that you'd want--knowledgeable without the overhead.  He did his best to fix it on my first visit.  But the problem required leaving it with him.  He repaired it within a week, called me with status, and fixed everything at a fair price.

I used Them 4-5 weeks ago. There was a Lawn tractor that wouldn't start and they charged me to repair it. There was a small business along by Husband and Wife. They've been very friendly and very quick and they'd try to keep you call whenever possible.

Took the mower out for the first time this spring and..........wouldn't start. Called Mike and he told me to bring it in. Seems the carburetor was shot. Mike apologized for not replacing it the year before and trying to save me the money of a new one.. Installed a new carb and only charged me the price of the carburetor and not labor. Very fair. I like a guy who stands behind his work
