Mezzis Construction LLC

He was paid money and he failed to complete the work over many months. He is a thief, liar and totally unprofessional. He hired an unlicensed electrician and did electrical work himself that was further checked by another licensed electrician who said it was a disaster and could possibly lead to a fire. He told me in the beginning that he was licensed and insured which was false. Anthony Santiago and Mezzis Construction and Mezzis Drywall are bums, don't make the same mistake I made.

It went OK.  They did two projects for me during late 2014 and early 2015, during which time they did an average job.  But after that the owner gave me quotes on two additional projects and both times he was awarded the job.  But after being awarded the jobs he would not respond to my requests (via voicemail, text and email) regarding scheduling, start dates, etc.  And then both times he blow me off after many days of leaving me hanging.  After the first time he blew me off I reconciled with him and tried to give him a second chance, but it backfired.

Well , Mr Mezzi decided not to use drop cloths. After 2 days of construction, I told him not to return. After an initial deposit of $2000, Mr Mezzi wanted $2000 more to finish the job & order the floor he was supposed put down. We agreed on $2000 the first week, $1000 the 2 nd week, and the rest when job was complete. He left screws all over the floor . He a couple of guys here & they helped themselves to whatever what was in my refrigerator. Somebody broke an ice tea bottle in the fridge . The bottom 2 shelves were covered in glass. I had broken glass on my floor, nails, & screws all over 2 different floors in my house. I have 2 kids which I seriously don't appreciate. He took down molding that was in my living room & stored it on my deck . Of course it rained & that's ruined. My carpet is destroyed from the plaster I can't get out. My hardwood floor has drywall stuck in it. They got plaster on furniture & our jackets as well.. They painted 1 room & didn't sparkle or remove nails that were in the wall. I can't believe that Mr Mezzi is still in business when he does these kinds of things. When I would ask him why things weren't covered the response I got was get over it. Also, I asked him for an invoice 3 times the last day.. The response was "yep"

Although the owner, Anthony, was very personable and professional during the estimate and install process, he has failed to follow through on a concern of mine.  When they drywall was hung and finished it looked great and this is when I posted my original review.  However after the rooms were painted and the electrical plates were installed it was clear that his work had a lot of issues.  Every joint between old work and new work was obvious as were some joints within new work.  I have some sloped ceilings and they were left unfinished in the top joint.  Almost every electrical plate had to be replaced with oversized plates because the outlet holes were cut too large for standard plates.  I contacted Anthony to come back out and correct one area that is the most obvious but I have not heard back.  It has been over a week where I used to hear from him within an hour.  I do not think he has any intention of following through.  I would not hire him again.

We split a large bedroom into two smaller rooms and three closets.  Anthony was hired to install and finish drywall on the walls between the two rooms and in three new closets.  In total there were 33 sheets installed.  He was always very personable, responsive and professional throughout the process, from initial inquiry to questions throughout the install, whether by phone, by text or in person.  He requested a deposit to cover materials up front and was willing to work with my apprehension by allowing me to pay the supplier directly.  I thought this was great.  Payment for his services were due at the end of the job once I felt everything was complete.  Most of the drywall was hung on Monday, it was taped on Tuesday and finished over a few hours on Wednesday and Thursday.  His two-worker crew was also very professional.
