I live in West Chester -- my wife and I are restoring a staircase in our house built in the 1860s. Lois is, literally, the only person in the area we could find with the skill and expertise to turn balusters to identically match the originals in our house. His price was very reasonable, he was very professional, and the balusters were flawless matches of the originals. It was worth the trips to Philly for his work.

Louis Tannen has been our carpenter for about 30 years - all in the same house. He has done projects from large to small. The two largest were ripping out a wall, installing a sliding glass door, and building a deck and then re-doing our kitchen last year. He has also done small jobs, such as a quick repair to the front door after a burglary - he was there within an hour after we telephoned him. He is now working on repairs to some window sills. I could go on, but the details are not necessary.
Louis is a pleasure to work with. The quality of the work is excellent; he is a true craftsman. He does not take the most expensive road when a less costly one will serve the purpose. As an individual, he is friendly, smart, and helpful. We have total confidence in him and have recommended him often.

Louis Tannen does EXCELLENT work. He specializes in fine detailed woodwork on older homes. He is a very creative designer and willing to work with my husband and myself making decisions regarding the design, type of wood used, finish and other choices. His prices are appropriate for the high quality of work he specializes in. He does GREAT work!
