I started the job in late 2007. It took him almost 3 years to finish the job and the work he did was falling apart and much of it had to be redone by a new contractor. The kitchen cabinets aren't even remotely close to what I ordered and paid for. He used to call me and tell me that he used the money I paid him on another project and needed more in order to continue work on my job. It was awful. He would tell me that he was going to be there all day, but nothing was getting done. I would leave and act like I was going to work and drive by 10 minutes later and he would be gone. Then he would tell me he worked all day. A job that was projected to take 6 months lasted over 3 years and still wasn't completed. Eventually, I just ate the lost money and hired someone else. By the first month of the job, he had demoed the entire house and every single room was torn up. I was stuck and had to use him. The more he screwed up, the more he would try to throw in other things, such as installing crown molding throughout the house for free. He did try to make up for things, but there was so much negativity. Honestly, he could have done the work for free and I would still wish I had never met him let alone hired him. He never finished the job. There was stuff left undone in every room and I had to hire a new contractor to finish the kitchen, redo all the plumbing because it was wrong (my toilet leaked into the new kitchen causing major damage, my sink plumbing backed up into the kitchen causing flooding in the basement, the shower tile all had to be removed and replaced due to leaks). He incorrectly installed the kitchen floor and within a few weeks of install about half the tiles had cracked or popped up. I had to buy all new tiles and pay to have them installed. He never hung the backsplash and I had to hire a new contractor to do that. I had to paint the entire house myself because his work was awful. I spent weeks scraping paint and scrubbing floor glue off my brand new hardwood floors. This review doesn't even begin to describe the years of pure hell I went through with this guy as my contractor. He came highly recommended from a friend who had been in the flipping business and Mike Lorenzo was great at selling himself. He showed me amazing photos of work he had done, and I never bothered to check references since my friend had used him. Perhaps if I had been there to supervise the project every single minute of the day and had paid for and picked up the materials myself as my friend did, it may not have been as bad. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't recommend this guy to my worst enemy.
Description of Work: I used Lorenzo Construction to completely remodel my house. Hired for the following projects: install new windows & doors (interior & exterior) throughout house, remodel living room/dining room (new hardwood floors, new ceiling, new electric, new lighting, paint), remodel kitchen (new electric, plumbing, cabinets, flooring, install new appliances, tile backsplash, new ceiling, new lighting, paint), remodel upstairs (build 2 new closets, refinish 4 existing closets, install crown molding throughout, install subflooring and hardwood floors, install new railing along stairs, new lighting, new electric), minor bathroom remodel (retile existing tub/shower, install new toilet, install cabinets).

I am shocked at the way am being portrayed. First of all I was on the job for only 4 months, Not 3 years! You continually asked me to do more work before I was finished the other project. The cabinets that were ordered were the exact ones you ordered and even stated how beautiful the kitchen turned out. I was never contracted to do windows at your home. I rebuilt entire kitchen floor because the previous contractor messed it up. I did many odds and ends without even charging you. I have the pictures before during and after your renovations. I had given you at least 5 references I did come highly recommended and I take pride in my work, I have been in business for over 30 years. you had referred me to other people.

Mike Lorenzo did work to give the appearance of progress. The kitchen was a disaster. Everything done in the kitchen needs to be re-done. I hired a home inspector who verified the poor quality of the work and the need to completely re-do the kitchen and much of the bathroom. The structural work was another disaster. I hired a structural engineer who gave a report that beams were not tied together properly and supporting structure for a landing was removed in stairs leaving a dangerous situation. Other contractors have said the the refinishing of the floors was the worst job every seen. An electrician indicated that the electrical work was not up to code. Was also messy and left bottles, debris, sandwich wrappers without regard to cleanliness.
Description of Work: Worked on kitchen, bath, some structural work, refinished floors. Performed own electrical work (poorly done, not up to code). Did not follow correct permitting process.

as far as electric is concerned i pulled permits and had inspections done the stickers were put on electrical panel your electrician was trying to get work i assume. also the house was cleaned everyday.i also have pictures of before ,during and finished. you also stiffed me for 17,000.00 dollars. i was told the plumber and hvac contractors were stiffed to. you forgot to mention all the times i had to go out on sundays to pick up appliances and mattresses or when they left your refrigerator on sidewalk and left i had to take apart and bring in house. as far as beam was concerned you never let me finish job its was still being worked on. i bent over backwards to make you happy. my theory is you over spent and ran out of money. i was highly recommended with referrals to you. ive been in business for 30 years and all my work spoke for itself i never had to advertise . other contractors need to be aware not to work for these people.
