HORRIBLE!!!!! When I called the business because I read the reviews the lady that answered the phone said she doesn’t service my area, but then she says oh hold on and asked my zip code for a second time and says oh yes we service that area! Then the owner of the company comes out to my home gives me and estimate asked me too confirm the estimate, I did and then never contacted me again! That was in January. In February I started receiving text messages saying this company was on there way to do a job that I was never contacted about and then I received a text saying the job was completed! So I politely sent a text asking to stop texting me for work that was never completed and I was never contacted about! So the owner calls me and apologized for “dropping the ball” and stated he will get someone out as soon as possible! But never takes the estimate down it’s the original estimate price! No thanks, I’d rather take my business elsewhere! I should not have to chase business owners down to pay them my hard earned money for services I want done in my home! Either your a your a business or not, and you want to make money regardless of how big or small the job is!

This summer Matthew Rathgeb Painting painted the exterior of our entire house. We found out about Matt from a referral through a friend who has worked with Matt multiple times. Working with him was an excellent decision. Matt is prompt, respectful, professional, detail oriented, and responsive to phone calls / text / email. The bid quote for the job was very descriptive and fairly priced. Our house has multiple types of exterior surfaces (e.g. stucco, siding, brick, etc...). Matt had good suggestions for both specific color and the type of materials he would use. On his suggestion we kept our existing aluminum siding and were very happy with the outcome. Matt's team was lead by Marvin who is also a pleasure to work with. The teamed showed up on time and worked hard from the beginning of the job until the end. Matt was there throughout the entire process. We honestly have no complaints about any part of the process and will definitely work with Matt again.

I couldn’t be happier with the work Matt and his crew did. The rooms in our home had considerable cracks and wall damage, but the team fixed every single one flawlessly before painting. The end result is that our 100 year old home looks like new inside. They even went back and repainted a small area that got messed up by another contractor who was working at the same time—and didn’t charge me anything extra. And Matt was extremely responsive to my emails and calls from start to finish. Highly recommended—we’ll be using him again in the future for the few rooms we didn’t include in this job.

I hired Matt after obtaining five estimates for painting most of the inside of my house, including walls, ceilings, trim and a variety of drywall repairs. His proposal was slightly higher than the average estimate, but I was swayed by his great reviews on the Web. Now I understand why. He and his team are the height of professionals. Not only are they meticulous in their work, and extremely clean. They go above and beyond, and I can't recommend him enough. Here are some examples. At the end of the day, before they were finished with a room, they offered to remove the dropcloths and plastic, and put all of the furniture back in place, including the blinds and drapes, temporarily, so that I could use the room until the next morning. They did this for both my bedroom (so that I could sleep in my own bed) and my family room (so that I could watch TV.) After they finished the first coat of paint in the family room, I realized that the color was very different from what I had expected. I contacted Matt and asked him what he would charge me to paint over the first coat with a different color that I picked out. He agreed and never charged me. I had an even bigger problem with my sun room. I had picked out a color from Clark and Kensington that was a pale yellow. We had agreed to use Sherwin Williams paint. They claim that they can mix any color from other companies based upon their computer formulas. The room was originally painted a light green, but after they finished with a primer and two coats of the SW paint, I realized, and so did they, that the color had a slight greenish cast and didn't match the C&K sample. I thought that the old paint might be bleeding through, but they assured me that it wasn't. I was upset, but Matt offered a possible solution. He had his men pick up the original C&K paint instead of the SW paint and re-painted the room. That did it! (Let this be a cautionary tale of matching colors from different companies.) Not only that, but while one man was finishing the walls, I saw that two others were cleaning my windows where they had left a few smudges and fingerprints. Bottom line: It was a pleasure dealing with Matt and his team. He's a true professional and I can't recommend him enough.

Matt and his team were nothing short of excellent from our first interaction, my only regret is that I did not hire them sooner. My previous painter ruined my wall and while Matt's team was unable to fix the poor texture work they skim coated the wall and made the wall look even better than before. He and his staff were never late to the appointments and helped me get every detail right, which is a challenge for many as I am a perfectionist and I expect things to be at a certain level of excellence. They take ownership of and mistakes and come out to correct areas that needed to be touched up, his pricing was more than fair and he made my experience as painless as possible, which is everything I could ask for in a contractor. I've already recommended and provided his information to my condo association, which will now refer any tenants and residents to him. If you are seeking a painter, I wholeheartedly recommend Matt and his team for your project as they will not disappoint.

We could not be more satisfied with Matthew Rathgeb painting. We chose Matt based on his reputation and how personable and responsive he was during the estimate process and he really exceeded our expectations. We were having work done while living elsewhere which is always nerve-wracking but he made it easy. From text messages of pictures of work in progress to very helpful discussions of about color selection and finish options he was highly responsive. Wall preparation and quality of work was fantastic, particularly the kitchen cabinets which really look like a factory finish. He has a large crew and was able to easily handle a large job. Matt truly has pride in what he does and it shows. We recommend him without reservation and will absolutely use him for our future painting needs.

Matt is a fantastic guy and runs a very successful company. He painted my 1400 square foot condo in December 2018. From the beginning to the end he was professional, responsive, and did a great job! When I initially reached out to him, he responded within minutes and showed up early for the estimate. After that, I had a quote within a couple of hours. We scheduled the date and the work started exactly when he said it would. The entire project took 5 days and I did not have a single issue/complaint throughout. In addition to the high quality job, he also protected my floors/appliances, etc which is also a very important part of any job. I would/will hire him for any future painting needs!

This was by far the best experience I have had with home improvement project from start to finish. Matt was on time and brought everything he and I would need to make a decision if this was the right partnership. He was able to provide an electronic quote same day. His team patched and fixed all damage to dry walls - just like they were never there. The team did a walk through with me daily and addressed any concerns. The team that painted my house was very careful to leave things they way they found them or better. His team cleaned up [vacuumed and cleaned floors in the entire house] when project was done. I would hire them back for my next project.

I requested a quote on a Sunday, same day secretary replied that Matthew, the owner, was out of town but he would contact me midweek. So he did. He came the following day and within a day he sent me a reasonable estimate that included painting on the four floors, including dining room, guest room hallways, office, etc. and color matching several rooms. I was having difficulty finding a painter who would do the job within a month; Matthew Rathgeb Painting was able to start the job within less a week. A crew of three painters worked and finished the job in two days and a half. They were very respectful and cleaned after they finished every day. I will hire Matthew Rathgeb again.

We interviewed several painters and were very drawn to Matt's professional approach. His bid to do the work was very thorough starting from the job description of the work to be done, to his certifications of insurance, liability, and from the EPA regarding lead paint. He presented us with pictures of his work in other places. There was no doubt that he was the best person to do the job but we had other lower bids. After thinking about the quality of the proposals and the amount of time we expect the paint job to last, we thought a better quality job would last longer and be less expensive in the long run. Eddie and his crew showed up on time and did their work efficiently. At day's end they cleaned up enough that we could live in the spaces in which they were working. When they were finished the whole job, it was almost as if they hadn't been there at all except the walls and ceilings looked great! Matt promised that if any touch-up work was needed, he would be happy to send someone to do it. Fortunately, we never had to take him up on his offer. We are extremely satisfied with the work they did.

We, myself and two neighbors, were looking for a painter to repaint the exterior of our third floor bay windows. We asked Angie's List for recommendations. Four names were given and I called three of the four. In less 24 hours Matthew Rathgeb called back. An appointment was made for the following day at 7 AM. Matthew was prompt. We were provided with the most professional proposal, complete with insurance certificate, scope of engagement, reasonable price and an agreement. While Matthew tried to fulfill agreement, the job was delayed repeatedly. None was due to the fault of Matthew but rather blame it on the weather. Matthew called weekly or as frequent as it was feasible to schedule the work. While Matthew kept getting thwarted by weather, he never gave up. The job was finally done. The end product was very professional. Matthew's team was very accommodating and neat. They covered every surface and clean up after the job was completed. I will definitely recommend Matthew Rathgeb.

Matt and his team were first class, right from the start. Matt was quick to respond and come out to quote us on the work which was very competitively priced. He was able to start the job within 2 weeks of his estimate and he was onsite for the job. Matt and his team were polite, diligent, and professional. The job was completed and totally cleaned up in less than 2 days and when he left, you couldn't even tell that we had workers sanding/plastering. The work product was perfect, and Matt went above and beyond by doing touch up work to our crown molding and trim work around our front door to make the job look complete and up to his standards (he didn't even charge us for the extra work - he did it because he wanted it to look right - a true professional and perfectionist!). We felt comfortable dealing with Matt and his team, loved the completed product, and look forward to having him back to the house for our next paint job. We highly recommend Matt for any painting work!

This is the second time I have hired Matt and his team to paint for me. He is incredibly responsive and follows up on all my emails and calls. He and his team show up early every day, never a second late, and are always totally ready to go. They always finish exactly on time and never late.
