We bought a house that had a chimney on the roof, which was covered with roofing materials. Everything below the roof had been removed. It really wasn't an ideal situation, and our inspector somehow missed it. In any case, the chimney started collapsing, after we moved in, possibly due to some construction going on in the house next door, and our roof started to leak as a result. After initially trying to work with the roofer who did the roof installation, we decided we needed a more specialized contractor. I called Lotierzo, who had been recommended to me many years ago for a similar job, which I didn't end up hiring them for over budget constraints (they aren't cheap, but you get good work for the money). I called early on a Friday morning, and the voicemail box was full, but I received a call back within a half hour and explained my situation. They said they would come out to take a look within an hour or so, and arrived a few minutes earlier than they had said they would. They quickly looked at the chimney and gave me an estimate within a few minutes. They were also able to schedule the work for first thing the following Monday morning (in the meantime, I had put a tarp over the chimney myself to keep more water from leaking into the house). They arrived promptly on Monday, and completed the work on Wednesday (they were unable to work Tuesday due to rain). Since I wasn't able to be at home when they did the work, they told me they would take photos of the work in progress, and send them to me. They did take the photos, but I had to call them a couple days after the work was done for them to actually be sent. Overall, I'd say their responsiveness was still above average for a construction contractor, though. The work consisted of removing most of the chimney, stabilizing the chimney on the house next door, adding flashing to stop any leaking from the chimney next door, then they covered our side with concrete, tar, then roofing material. They also coated the resulting surface to match a coating that was on the rest of our roof.

Our gas fireplace insert had begun to smoke badly and the logs were covered in soot.  After dealing with two other companies, one of which wanted to line the chimney for over $5000., we called Lotierzo on the recommendation of a friend.  They were wonderful.  They inspected the chimney, clearly explained the cause of the problem (condensation inside the chimney) and proposed a solution.  They proposed sealing the chimney in a way that would allow it to be easily opened should some future homeowner want to use the fireplace for wood and installing a new gas log unit. they came, did the work, and cleaned up.  They were willing to stand behind their work, and told us repeatedly that if we didn't like the new unit, they would come and take it away and we could start over.  Their solution worked beautifully and we love the new gas unit.  I wish I'd called them sooner.  Recommend without reservations.

I was originally scheduled for a chimney inspection on Friday.  However, on Tuesday I had someone out to replace my water heater.  The plumber noticed that the chimney was not venting. It was releasing carbon monoxide.  So the plumber shut off my heater and the water heater.  I called Lotierzo and explained my circumstances.  They had someone come to my house that afternoon.  They were very professional, explained the situation, and discussed my alternatives.  I needed a new liner but he was able to clear the blocked chimney until they could install the liner.  I would recommend them to anyone.

They were professional and came on time to all appointments. They completed the work efficiently and in the time frame that they had told us.

Went very well - the staff sealed off with tape and plastic sheeting around the whole fireplace and mantel so no soot would get anywhere and did a very thourough job cleaning my chimney. Everything was spotless when they left. I forget how much I paid.

I've used them before and they are always top notch. They do what they say they are going to do and there are never any problems. Their price seemed to be right in line with people who seem to be doing this kind of work.

They came out on a Saturday in October to give estimates. I called a couple of days later for an appointment and had no problems scheduling. The workers were prompt. However, their expected scope of work and my expected scope of work were not the same. They suggested finishing the next day, but I couldn't stay home from work the next day. They made a call to the office, had materials delivered, and got everything done within a few hours. Overall, I was very happy with their service.

Overall very good experience. Although they were late on the day they were to provide an estimate, they called and kept me updated as to when they would arrive. They provided 2 written estimates: one that would apply if all went well, and a higher one if installation proved more complicated (in which case they would have to remove some bricks from the fireplace to complete the work, replace them, and repair the masonry). On the day of the job they arrived right on time. They were considerate of the fact that I had only the morning available and needed to get to work by 1 pm; kept me updated on progress and how much more time would be needed to finish. Installation went smoothly and the extra step of removing brick wasn't necessary. I recommend this company highly. Only glitch: my first call to schedule the work was forgotten; I requested a specific date, was told they'd call back to let me know if it was possible, but never heard back. Second time I called, I let them choose the date!

THIS IS A FAMILY OWNED COMPANY AND BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR 40 YEARS. THEY KNOW THEIR STUFF AND ARE HELPFUL AND ABLE TO PROBLEM SOLVE. THEY ARE A LITTLE MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHER COMPANIES AND THEY WILL TELL YOU UPFRONT. THEY HAVE ALSO DONE A MAJORITY OF FIREPLACES IN CENTRE CITY, MOSTLY ONES WITH PROBLEMS. COURTEOUS, ON TIME BUT YOU NEED TO PIN THEM DOWN ON APPOINTMENT, AND CALL DAY BEFORE TO MAKE SURE TO REMIND THEM. SOMETIMES THEY ARE LATE BECAUSE THERE ARE COMPLICATIONS ON THE PREVIOUS JOB. SO BE PATIENT, IT'S THE NATURE OF THEIR BUSINESS. I RECOMMEND THEM TO EVERYONE.
