City Fitness Philadelphia

I like that they are clean, they have modern equipment there. I haven't taken any of their classes but they are good. My wife wanted to join, and she wasn't able to work out, as she changed jobs. I told her to go in, and ask if they had a kind of a family plan and they have this way of getting people sign up with a personal trainer, which is a waste of money. They wouldn't let her sign up any other way. I have a great deal with them, because I signed up 6 months before they opened. Their final product is good, but the way they try to sign up people is not good. I locked in the cheaper price because I was early, and my wife pays more. I have been to other gyms, and this place is good.

Excellent gym with amazingly low prices. Spacious, spotlessly clean, newer equipment, attentive, friendly staff. Beats all other gyms in the area hands down. The only thing I don't like is the billing service they use (but this is true for all gyms). I changed my debit card and didn't notify them in time so they charged me a $20 fee. I called to complain and they refunded half. So be sure to notify them immediately of any changes. Also, if you cancel you will be billed for 2 months after the day you cancel no matter if you've already paid the last month.

However, our problems began after we moved to Mt. Airy and had to cancel our membership. We cancelled in May but they apparently continued to charge us. Because they didn't have our new address, we weren't getting the bill so we found out they were charging us 6 months later when a collection agency began hounding us for the money. We were getting calls from some robot service before the collection agency but it would call and tell us to hold for the next available agent. We had no idea what the calls were about because it didn't say, it just told us to hold. We tried several times to hold for the agent to find out but after waiting over 15 minutes we would hang up. Finally the collection agency called and of course they were rude to us. I called City Fitness and they said they would straighten everything out but it took almost 2 months of calling and trying to get their manager on the phone to let him know we were still getting calls form the collection agency and they were threatening to report our debt to the credit bureau. It was finally taken care of but it was such a hassle.

The employees are very friendly and very helpful. The facility is clean and I run into a lot of people I know. Mostly it is their friendliness and their helpfulness that stands out. I have no complaints about them. I will be back there.

Very friendly staff. Not too crowded if I go before work or later in the evening. Price and customer service are far better than some other gyms. I also like the people who go. Few meatheads.

I pay them monthly. They are very friendly and they are very easy to work with. They have good hours and all the equipment in new and clean. They offer a free training session so they can address any issues you may be having.
