At the direction of the owner of C&Ds, I measured the edge to edge size of the old, existing cooktop, and the owner told me he'd order the replacement that would fit in the counter. When the delivery men showed up to install the new one, it didn't fit, and I had to return it.
The owner told me repeatedly and rudely that it was my fault for giving him the wrong measurements although I'd given him exactly what he requested, and charged me a 15% restocking fee. He also insisted that what I wanted didn't exist (one that fit in stainless steel).
I found exactly what I needed, a cooktop in stainless steel that fit perfectly, after going to Jenkintown Electric.
C&D was a waste of time and money.

They were fabulous. They knew exactly what we wanted, and they were experts in this kind of installation, and they are very familiar with the homes. They came and put both the machines together and they are working great and I love it.

The two delivery men themselves were fine: professional and helpful. My problem is with the owner, with whom I had to deal. When, at the store, I'd asked if the price for the refrigerator included delivery (it did), he did not tell me that there was an added fee for removing the old appliance. As a matter of fact, someone was at my house to take that refrigerator away, since it was in fine working condition, but the store still wanted to charge simply for removing it from my house--even though all the extra work necessary to do it, including removing the 2 doors, had been done in order to get the new one into the house. When I called to ask about the fee, the owner was extremely rude. I had had no trouble with my previous appliance delivery, including removal of the old washing machine, half a year earlier. According to the delivery people, I must have dealt with the *other* owner. Because the earlier delivery was fine, I've rated this delivery a C rather than an F, which is what I would have given it based on this experience. Never will I purchase from Cand D again and risk dealing with a rude, insulting person.

They are pretty no-nonsense and were able to answer all of our questions. The delivery for the dryer was a bit tricky b/c it ended up not fitting down the steps and had to be taken apart. The delivery guy had to call Cand D to confirm some hook up extras (hose, etc) that we had paid for. They were here when they said they'd be and did a good job. The dehumidifier was easy. We talked model/price/rebate over the phone and then just stopped in today and picked it up. He made a copy of the receipt for us and attached it to the rebate and filled in the model number, etc. All we had to do (it was a PECO rebate) was to fill in our account number and sign. Prices are fair, comparable. I like that I am supporting a local business rather than a big chain when I can.

After the big box places told us that there was no way to get a gas dryer through the narrow entrance to our West Philly basement, we started to look at smaller stores (why didn't we do this in the first place?!). We went to Cand D, where the saleswoman took one look at us and said, "Your door is too small to fit a dryer, right?" Cand D sells Speed Queens, which are designed to be disassembled, moved in, and then reassembled. It was an easy decision, especially as Cand D was able to get our dryer in on Tuesday after a late Thursday afternoon order. It seems that if I had not required the dis/reassembly, it would have arrived the next day! I was kept up-to-date on the status of the order. The delivery and removal went off without a major problem, though they couldn't hook up the dryer to the vent because my old vent tubing was plastic, and hence *way* out of code (it would have been nice if they had checked with me beforehand about that, though they *did* check with me about having a proper gas shut-off valve installed). I was able to easily purchase and install a new metal vent tubing myself the next day; the company might consider keeping a spare tube in their truck for this eventuality. Even so, I would definitely use Cand D again.

I called first to see if they would deliver to my South Philadelphia home and if they could bring the appliances through the basement window. I did not have a problem with the service, but the appliances were misrepresented as being new (not refurbished). I bought a washing machine and a dryer. Both machines were problematic within the first year. The washer and dryer were ripping my clothes. The dryer's interior finish was peeling away. Both machines had to be serviced repeatedly. I had one repair service (I had gotten through Angie's List and have been very satisfied with) told me that the machines were quite old. I told him I had only purchased them 'new' within the past 3 years (from the time of the service). The washer did not clean or spin properly, leaving the clothes wet. The dryer's thermostat broke several times, and I often had to go to a laundromat instead. I have replaced both machines and am happier for it.

THIS IS A REAL FAMILY-RUN STORE. WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THE CHOICES AT THE STORE, AND WITH ITS PROXIMITY TO OUR HOME. WE COULD NOT FIND MANY APPLIANCE DEALERS NEAR THE CENTER CITY AREA. WE WERE ALSO PLEASED TO FIND THAT SINCE THEY WERE A STORE WITH AN URBAN CLIENTELE, THEY UNDERSTOOD THE PROBLEM OF OLDER HOMES AND NARROW DOORS. ALSO, THE PRICES WERE EXCELLENT, AND THE BRAND CHOICES GOOD. TAKING OUT OUR OLD REFRIGERATOR WAS GRUELING. THEY HAD TO REMOVE BOTH BACK AND DOORS THEN LIFT IT OFF A DECK AND BRING IT DOWN A LONG NARROW ALLEY, BUT THE WORKERS DID IT CHEERFULLY AND WELL. THEY THEN HAD TO GO THROUGH THE SAME PROCESS IN REVERSE TO BRING IN THE NEW ONE. THEY HAD TO UNPACK THE BOX AND TAKE OFF THE DOORS AND BACK TO BRING IT INTO THE HOUSE. AGAIN, THEY WERE PLEASANT AND UNGRUDGING ABOUT ALL THE EXTRA WORK. THEY LEVELED IT PROPERLY AND MADE SURE WE UNDERSTOOD HOW TO CARE FOR OUR NEW APPLIANCE BEFORE THEY LEFT. WE REALLY FELT AS IF THIS WAS 'OUR STORE' FROM NOW ON!
