Showed up on time each day. Very friendly and concerned that we were happy at every step of the way. Made sure that the end of each day things were tidy and clean.
The end result was high-quality and looks fantastic.
We were very happy with the price as well!
I could not be happier with the work and service performed by Barry and his team. Starting with a quick response to my first e-mail, ease with setting up the estimate, and flexibility with scheduling the work to be performed. Once on the job site (which they started on the date promised), they were punctual, clean, and friendly. This was especially important because it is one of my rental properties, so they were actually dealing with the tenants.
We made some changes during the week regarding the work was being formed and Barry was able to accommodate the requested alterations with ease.
In summary, I thought they did a great job, enjoyed working with Barry and would highly recommend him and his team!
Once he came to look at the job, he emailed me an estimate that was outrageous-- $14,000 to drywall most of a 800 sq ft row home. When I emailed him back questioning his price, he texted back with no punctuation something that I interpreted to mean "Oh I made a mistake, my electricity keeps going out, and my files got screwed up. It's really $9000.) Another angie's list contractor (who seemed incredibly professional, who SPECIALIZES in drywall, and whose reviews indicate that even HE is overpriced) gave me an estimate in the $5-6k neighborhood. I eventually got a friend's contractor to do it for around $3500.
My boyfriend says that contractors will give outrageous estimates when they don't really want to do a job, and on the off-chance that someone is mis-informed enough to accept the estimate, then they make serious bank. If that's what you were doing Barry, I guess that's up to you. But I'm not stupid enough to fall for it. :(
"Just responding to this every once in awhile I get a bad review but I have to respond to this one $14000 was the right price and that’s great that that had some one dry wail the whole house for $3500 but I would never cover up that house that price was for framing things the rite way and I wouldn’t be able to sleep at nite knowing I just dry walled that whole. House drywall and doing structural work are to things I was not gonna cover up bad framing and structural damage I understand people want to but bad homes and rent them out and just cover all the bad work it’s real easy but I just don’t do that and my price was a hole lot more then drywalling and that price was under bid I’m happy to help anyone but I can’t please everyone and LNI whould never let me dryway that place it up and coming and if I could get a deal like that I would I do things rite and safe and I am glad you got a deal but I will be glad to help anyone thank u"
We accepted Barry's estimate on a Saturday. Barry responded right away, started work on the following Tuesday and finished on that Thursday. Barry and his team were very professional, clean, on time and on budget. There was no wasted time while on our job.
We plan on having Barry out to do more work in 2015.
He primed the ceiling, but did not paint it.
The mud from the drywall on the ceiling was dragged down a full 12 " in some points, but no less than 9" all the way around. He made no attempt to clean it or repaint the walls.
The job took 4 times as long as he stated, extending the disarray of my kitchen from one day to a full week due to scheduling issues. half of which I will allow for a sagging beam that he did not expect to encounter. Even with that, however, the job was over-extended by his incompetence with an electrical circuit that miraculously worked on his second day of head-scratching over it.
Our discussions AND his written estimate included replacing the damaged siding on the outside. He would have left the outside untouched altogether had I not reminded him - and even then, all he did was go outside and squirt some silicone caulk into the holes, leaving the damaged siding in place.
I made the mistake of paying him in full - I should have withheld the funds until the job was completed to my satisfaction. When I wrote to him later about my dissatisfaction, he failed to answer the email, but left a voicemail that he would paint the ceiling. I did not want any more work from him as I no longer trusted his competence. I wanted a partial refund and he refused to comply.
"This is a none member and had t he cable company pay for this work and claimed to have water damage not the case the kitchen was a back shed and her beams were so out of wack she thought it was water damage and I tried to tell her there was no water damage it was the roof beams and as far as having a kitchen in that room that should of never been aloud I was asked to sleep it look like Comcast was to blame I’d love to help everyone but if I couldn’t do it properly and it came out very well on the condition s I had to work with ceiling was 5 or 6 foot tops it was a back shed that’ Comcast paid for and wanted me to make it look like water damage fact of the matter was the back shed was collapsing and Comcast wasn’t paying for what I needed to do and what I needed to was tear the back down itvhad no water damage im always out to help anyone but I’m not a miracle worker And can only do what I can do I’ll help anyone but sometimes you can’t make everyone happy but I tried and Comcast got stuck with it a nd they shouldn’t have"
Barry made me feel comfortable the minute he came in the door. He came out and did an extremely thorough inspection of the property gave me several different options as to what I could do to fix everything. His estimate was fair, especially considering the mess I had turned my home in to. He was able to come out and start the work immediately. He kept me up to speed throughout the entire process, and made sure to keep in touch with me throughout the entire process double checking to make sure that I wanted things a certain way or that I was okay with certain things.
It's very obvious that Barry is not only extremely competent when it comes to what he does but he also cares deeply about his work. He does his work with pride and it shows in the finished product. Without a doubt when I decide to take on my next project in this house I'm going to give Barry a call!
I will hire him again next month and will review the new work when it is complete.
