For banking purposes this credit union is stellar, I love the reps & managers from our East Norriton, PA branch. In January we saw an ad in my local branch advertising home equity loans at 1.99% for 3 years. My husband and I were looking to consolidate our debt. We applied for the loan online in January, we were advised our good credit scores were not high enough to qualify for the 1.99% although I later found out one of ours was actually high enough to qualify. So I had asked if we didn't qualify for the special rate could we extend the loan from 3 years to 5 at the same 3.99% we were approved for but my question was never answered. From the beginning of the process I informed the rep of the four bills we were paying off with the loan & sent the balances due regularly to her with the last email going to her 5 business days before our settlement date of 2/12. We also requested bi-weekly payments as we have our mortgage set up the same way. She assured me she was updating the balances before our settlement. Got to our local branch to sign the papers and none of the balances had been updated at all since submitting the application in January. We had no paperwork regarding our bi-weekly payment request. So we returned home, I emailed the rep about the discrepancies & she said she was sorry the paperwork was not updated we would just have to wait for the overpayments to our creditors to be returned to us (which took weeks.) As far as the bi-weekly payments she said she had sent the paperwork to the department that handled that for us and this was on 2/17. I checked our online bank account regularly and it showed our first payment due April 2nd for the full amount for over three weeks. I waited a month to hear back from someone regarding setting up our bi-weekly payments and finally called our local branch on 3/17 as they would have to make the first withdraw the end of March if we were going to be on a bi-weekly payment plan. Within 24 hours they had the paperwork in my hand so we could start our Bi-weekly payments on 3/25. My husband's annual bonus happened to be deposited on 3/25 as well as his bi-weekly pay. When we went in to check balances the credit union had withdrawn 4 loan payments two from his paycheck and two from his bonus. Had to call our local branch who fixed it and deposited the overdrawn money back into our account. Well our second payment was due to come out today...guess what AGAIN they took out a double payment. Have a call into the branch again. I will NEVER use them again for any type of loan, personal, business or our non-profit. As a bank they are fabulous and have great employees A+ service, but as a lender they score an F in our book. Checking here now to re-finance both our mortgage and home equity into a 15 year lower rate because this is ridiculous.
Description of Work: They hold our bank accounts, both personal, private and a non-profit we are on the board of. We recently applied for a debt consolidation home equity loan which the credit union provided.
