I contacted Schuyler because he had successfully repaired the oven in my gas range two years ago after another company botched the repair and overcharged me. This time I contacted him because my dishwasher was leaking and one of the burners on my gas range had ceased to ignite, despite repeated cleanings. Schuyler came to my house at the appointed time and quickly diagnosed the problems. He warned me that it could take up to two weeks to receive a part from Bosch, the dishwasher manufacturer, and indeed it did. As soon as he received both parts (the rubber seal for the dishwasher and the gas burner), Schuyler contacted me and made an appointment to come to the house to install them. He was on time for the appointment, and he worked quickly and efficiently. He is highly professional, very courteous, and very skilled. He is my first choice whenever I need a repair to a major appliance.

This was my third time using A & S, so obviously, I'm happy with the work I've received.

On moving into a new house, we discovered that the bottom of our refrigerator was filling with water.  I thought it was a defrost drainage issue, but I didn't have any idea of how to go about clearing the obstruction.  I called A & S and was able to get an appointment for the next morning.

He quickly took the refrigerator apart and cleaned everything out.  As he has done previously, he talked to me about the source of the problem:  in this case, he felt that a slightly off-level installation might be hindering proper drainage, so he adjusted the refrigerator.  As always, he was friendly, courteous and professional.

So far, so good.  The problem is fixed, and, if my previous experiences are any guide, I won't be seeing him again until something else breaks.  I highly recommend!

Our washing machine broke down on Saturday afternoon -- why do appliances always break on the weekend? -- and it is no longer covered by warranty. We had used A & S before and were very satisfied with their service so we thought we would try them again.  We called them early Monday morning and they agreed to send a tech between 3:00 and 6:00 that day.  At 3:00, the tech Schuyler called to inform us that he would be at our home in 10 minutes.  We showed him the washer and described the problem.  He checked out the unit and quickly diagnosed the problem as a broken motor coupler.  He gave us an estimate for the time and cost to repair and we agreed.  He had the necessary part and tools in his truck and quickly returned to make the repair. He carefully moved a few things out of his way in the laundry room and tilted the washer in order to make the repair.  All told, he took about 15 minutes to remove the damaged part and install the replacement.  After he re-positioned the washer and replaced the items that he had to move, he tested the machine thoroughly and let it run while he returned his tools to his truck and wrote up the invoice.  He also gave us his cell phone number so we could call him in case we noticed any problems with the repair.  The invoice price matched the estimate exactly, as it should.  Overall, it was another excellent experience with a very good service company.

On their first visit they were out quickly and gave a diagnostic of what the problems were. The guy (who was very nice) told me he would need to order parts and that he should have them in about five days. That was on January 17th. I gave the guy a $200 deposit and he left. I expected to hear back by the following week but I didn't. I finally called after about two weeks of not hearing anything and the woman who answered was very defensive. I told her that this should have already been taken care of, and that I gave a $200 deposit and she went on to say that they aren't crooks and that my money is safe... Regardless.. why am I the one having to call and figure this out? They should have called me to schedule a repair once they got their part in the mail. Finally on Feburary 12th the repair guy came back to finish the work. He was able to fix my gas range without any problems, but then told me that something was wrong with my Microwave - something he didn't see when he came out for the initial estimate, and that it would be more expensive to fix than to repair. He couldn't give a really solid explanation as to why - so I didn't believe him. I figured he probably ordered the wrong part and didn't want to admit to it and have to come back a third time, especially after having me wait as long as I did for him to finally come out. Glad I didn't take his word - because I called out a different repair company for a second opinion and they were able to fix the microwave for a reasonable cost.

Excellent service. I arranged for the technician to come examine my dryer. He came the next day at the appointed time, examined my dryer, told me the problem and gave me the exact price of the repairs (labor and parts). Two days later, he arrived on time, was professional and very polite (as he was on the day he gave the estimate). It was also refreshing to not hear "oh, by the way you also needed a..." . The repairs extended the life of a very old and reliable dryer. From now one, I will use this company for all of my appliance repairs and recommend them to my neighbors and friends.

I had to call company twice to contact and set up first appointment, but the technician was very courteous and professional. He knew what he was doing and pointed out a couple of ways to improve washing efficiency.

I realized my oven wasn't working properly, looked A & S up on Angie's list, called that very evening and left a voicemail. I called back around 9:00 AM the next morning and was able to speak to someone directly. I described the issue, she took my name and number and said she'd call me right back to let me know when a technician would be in my area. She called back 15 minutes later and asked if I was available now. The tech showed up twenty minutes later and forty minutes after that my oven was back! I had a great experience. I'd definitely use them again.

I noticed that our refrigerator wasn't working on Saturday evening, even though the freezer was working fine. The retailer, whom would normally service the unit, is closed on Sundays and didn't provide a reference to other service providers. When I spoke to them Monday morning, they indicated that they couldn't send someone until Friday. They suggested that I call the manufacturer, which I did. The best Amana/Whirpool could do was Thursday. They did, however, refer me to six local service providers. Of these, only A&S was able to come out same day. They agreed to have a tech out to my house between noon and three. At 3:05, I called for an update and they indicated that the tech was running a little behind. He arrived at 3:30. Schuyler was very professional and apologized for his lateness. He got right to work and listened attentively while I described the problem. Schuyler quickly diagnosed the problem as a faulty defroster circuit, which was causing the refrigeration lines to freeze so the coo air couldn't get to the refrigerator. He gave some clear directions as to what needed to be done to get the unit ready for repair, but unfortunately, the freezer needed to be defrosted in order to make the repair. He agreed to come back the next morning at 7:30. I unloaded the freezer and defrosted it overnight. Schuyler returned right at 7:30, removed the freezer door and sliding racks and extracted the access panel from the back of the freezer. He found that there was still some ice in the line running to the refrigerator part of the unit, so he used a portable steamer to finish thawing the line, taking care to ensure that no water spilled on my kitchen floor. He then removed the bad circuit and installed a new one. He replaced the access panel, the racks and the door to the unit. He then moved out the refrigerator to get to the back of it and made one further adjustment that I didn't see. He did take care in moving the refrigerator to ensure that the floor wasn't marked up. He then returned the unit to its original position and adjusted the front right footing to ensure the unit was level. As he put away his tools, Schuyler explained how much time it would take for both the freezer and refrigerator to get back to their operating temperatures. He gave me the invoice and updated the price to reflect an Angie's List coupon that A&S accepted. He was gone within 40 minutes of his arrival. The refrigerator was back at its normal operating temperature by 4:00, which was close to what he predicted. The freezer didn't take much longer. Overall, I was very happy with the service. It was a little pricier than I expected (without a good basis for comparison) but they were highly responsive when no other provider would step up to the challenge. Plus, the work was done well on the first attempt by a friendly and skilled professional. I would recommend them to others and I plan to use them for my future appliance repair needs.

The technician arrived on time, was knowledgeable, courteous, professional, and fixed the problem in less than an hour. I would definitely use them again. I gave them a B for responsiveness because I had to leave them 2 messages before receiving a return call. Other than that, A+ all the way.

The refrigerator and freezer were not as cold as they should be. When we called the phone was answered promptly and the technician was there at the scheduled time later that day. He quickly diagnosed the problem--the fan that blows cold air from the freezer into the refrigerator was not working. The part had to be ordered so we set up a time for the technician to return the next day. He again arrived as scheduled and replaced the part. He was extremely professional, very knowledgeable, and more than happy to answer our questions. The refrigerator and freezer have been working normally since.

Came out, nice guy, ineffective in this case. Clueless about the error code, charged me service fee but left and said he had to do some internet research. I called him the next day to see if he was making any headway. He said he was working on it, but I haven't heard from him since. I called someone else who came out today and repaired it immediately, only charging me slightly more than A&S did, and I got a working dishwasher out of it.

They were doing work at a rental home and the first time they came out the renters took the key out of the box so they had to make a second trip, but they only charged us for one trip. The tenant said there was something wrong with the washer, but they said nothing was wrong. They were punctual and the price was reasonable.

It was a lot more expensive than I thought. The man came and he was excellent, he knew exactly what he was doing. He said it was a common problem with that brand. He had to go and get a part, he usually carried that part with him but he said the problem occured so frequently that he had used them all. So then he came back the next day to finish the repair. The work was perfect. I might price compare before using them again.

They guy that came out was great. He was the first person to call me back and everything in my freezer was thawing so I was desperate. He came on a Sunday of a holiday weekend and he rigged the compressor so that it would work temporarily until a new compressor could come in. It has been working well since. The part was covered by Kitchenaid and he was here for several hours. I think the price was a little higher than average but I didn?t talk to anyone else so I?m not sure. He didn?t mess up anything in my kitchen and he was very nice to deal with.

They came over and did a good job. My dryer stopped spinning and he had to put a new belt which involved some excess steps. It cost me a little more than I thought. He was there the next day and got the job done fairly quickly.
