Went very well. Contractor performed all work except electrical. Work scope was full demo down to the studs then a complete rebuild. Tile work was excellent.

Well, his "plumber" destroyed a new $78 MOEN tub fixture which he described as "junk". He shot solder all over our laundry room floor below it, and installed the valves backwards. It worked and was temporary, so we overlooked everything. He started about 2 -3 weeks late because he was on another job. He offered to pick up the material we had bought, and place it in our garage while we were away. His "helper" didn't show, and our son & neighbor had to unload the truck. He charged us a 15% delivery fee. A week into the job, he bought drywall and lumber, but once again, his "helper" was a no show, so we unloaded the truck, for which he billed us 15%.
The 1st day, he told us he fired his "plumber guy". Unfortunately, his "guy that helps him" didn't show for about 2-3 days, so we helped demo the bathroom and remove the tub and fixtures. When his helper finally showed, it was sporatic, and sometimes ran from 1 hour to several hours, until he went on vacation. We did all electrical work, but added new drywall for the other half of the bathroom & ceiling. My wife drove him back & forth to Home Depot for plumbing parts, and fed them lunch. The one week job stretched out for over 3 weeks. On the last day, he & his helper dropped tools and chipped the new tub. He presented the final bill which was several thousand $ higher, saying he wasn't making enough on this job!. The grout on the floor cracked within three days, which we fixed. Everything seems to work, but he admitted he had never worked with the tub surround material we selected. Lack of helpers, lack of knowledge of the material he was working with, and no plumber appeared to cause delays, for which we were somehow financially responsible for.
It's 8 months later and everything is working ok. I don't advise anyone to hire a single employee renovator to renovate an entire room. I made this mistake twice now (bath & kitchen) and paid for it in the long run. We thought we'd save money, and did save some, but I recommend you hire a larger established local company. Beware of guys that have "guys who do that!", or "day workers", temp or part timers. In the end, the price was about 40% higher than the original quote, even adding in the extra drywall, and we were billed extra hours for his helper, several hours more than the helper helped! I realize there are cost extras, but his seemed excessive, especially considering we had to do some of the work.

We had a poorly caulked and grouted tub that we inherited from previous owners. It was clear there was water getting behind the walls. Brian gave me an estimate over the phone. He was knowledgeable and thorough and polite. Good quality of workmanship for reasonable price.
