DIXON TETER

We contracted Dixon Teeter for medium to large sized job involving the installation of a new stone patio, replacement of front and rear paver walkways, tree trimming and full landscaping. Aside from the owner (who is the manager) only showing up early in the AM on the project and left his self proclaimed team of "superior workforce" unattended on site all day for 10 days, he damaged our driveway, cut our cable and internet lines (admitting to it, but blaming comcast for not having them 2' underground - while never calling One Call first) - leaving us without Cable / Internet for 9 days through Thanksgiving, he did not complete the scope of work promised and contracted for. Further more, he over charged us for "change orders" which were NEVER authorized and did overall shotty work. We sent him a punch list of 14 items (and have since found 3-4 more) that he either didn't do, did incorrectly, or lied about (including installing our sidewalks 1.5" higher than the driveway such that you trip when using them). He tried to charge us double (7K) for 30 basic LED lights installed in the patio when the contract indicated a 3K charge which was already extortive. Strongly recommend against using this guy as he is a scammer and refused to come back and complete the job or address his punch list & warranty items

Everything looked great in the beginning. We received many compliments from neighbors as to how good the front yard looks. That made me happy. After a couple of weeks I noticed that some of the plant were not doing as well as the others. I email him and sent him pictures per his request and I haven't received any response as to whether they will be replaced. As of today 6/28/2014 still no response. I will reach out to him again to see if the dead plants will be replaced. Depending on the response I get will determine if we will use him for the backyard.

I couldn't have been more pleased with the final outcome, attentiveness, workmanship and courtesy of Dixon and his team. His design for my backyard is wonderful. He created the feeling of a natural woodland area with the layout and type of plants used.
Materials were delivered on time. Workman arrived at my home daily by 7:45 AM and worked through until 4:30. The job was finished on time and at the estimated cost, even though the removal of concrete was more complicated than anticipated.
Dixon was on site, at my home, to inspect and make sure I was satisfied on several occasions during the 12 day project.
There was another construction team at my home doing work on a bathroom project concurrently. The gentleman doing the bathroom tile commented to me on more than one occasion, in reference to Dixon's team, and quot;these guys are doing everything rightand quot;. It gives you confidence when one craftsman compliments another.
I would absolutely contract with Dixon Teter again.

The crew showed up on the appointed day as scheduled and began the work of removing old plantings and retaining wall. Installed the new wall, steps and walkway and new plantings in a little less than a week's time. We added lighting for the steps midway through the job, and Mr. Teter and crew accommodated the request with no problem. The crew moved on to the deck and did the work of replacing the support beams. They discovered the rails were lower than required by spec and needed to get additional materials to finish the job. Finished the deck work in a few more days, and the deck is now very solid and the wood is in much better shape. The driveway was sealed as the last task and took less than a day. Total length of the job was just over a week.
We've had subsequent problems with animal damage to most of the plantings, since we unfortunately have deer in the neighborhood. They actually dug up and chewed through the wiring to the outdoor lighting. Mr. Teter fixed the damage to the lighting at cost, and it is operating again. We are surprised about the damage to the plantings, as they were supposedly picked to be plants that were not appetizing to animals. We are working on treating and fertilizing them in hopes of bringing them back. We have not had Mr. Teter address this issue in any way, and I don't hold him responsible.
Overall, I would recommend Mr. Teter and his crew. They were prompt, efficient and everything was cleaned up and looking good when the job was completed. The new EP Henry retaining wall is really a great addition to our exterior. The price seemed fair, though I do not know how it might compare to other suppliers in the area. We gave Mr. Teter the job based on the results of the work he did on a neighbor's house, and we are satisfied with the outcome.

IT TOOK BETWEEN 1-2 WEEKS TO GET THE ESTIMATE. ONCE I HAD IT, IT TOOK LESS THAN A WEEK TO HAVE THE WORK COMPLETED. YOU CAN TRACK WHERE YOU ARE ON THE SCHEDULE ON THE DIXON TETER WEBSITE. A FEW WEEKS AFTER THE WORK WAS COMPLETED, I HAPPENED TO NOTICE THAT DEBRIS FROM THE ORIGINAL SIDEWALK (CONCRETE AND DIRT) HAD BEEN DUMPED UNDER MY FRONT AND BACK PORCHES. I CONTACTED MR. TETER TO REPORT THIS. HE DIDN'T THINK HIS CREW WAS RESPONSIBLE, BUT TOOK CARE OF IT WITHIN A FEW WEEKS NONETHELESS.
