Mark is an excellent craftsman and painter. He was on time each day and finished the job ahead of schedule. The results were amazing. Mark changed our house from 'builders grade' to custom in just a couple of days. Our foyer and dining room look amazing. He also fixed a nasty water stain on our living room ceiling from a previous plumbing problem. He matched the pain perfectly and you can't tell there was ever an issue.
Description of Work: Wainscoting, chair rails, crown molding, painting.

Mark Patton is an outgoing, gregarious individual that quickly bonded with me and my wife during the long project. But to start, Mark aggressively bid the job at $8,500 which included paint and all labor. Little did I know that during the course of the job, Mark would play on the kindness of my wife and start to complain and lament that he never bid a job as big as ours and he had no idea how much the paint would cost him. So even though the contract stated that we would pay 1/3 at beginning of project, 1/3 in middle and final 1/3 at completion, my wife felt compelled to start paying him outside of the contract payment schedule. During the final phase of the job which included painting the master bathroom, it was discovered that Mark decided to use a less expensive paint because, and quot;the base paint was not available at Benjamin Moore storeand quot;. We felt this was highly unlikely since this was a professional paint store and not the local Ace Hardware! When we contested the poor quality of the paint used, Mark agreed to repaint the bathroom and there was no mention of an additional charge to fix his mistake. The following day, Mark once again, appeals to my wife to pay him an additional $150 labor to put this third coat of paint on. My wife went through the roof when she saw this. As it turns out, Mr. Patton had played on my wife's good nature for so long that he convinced her to give him an additional $1,000.00 for the job(over and above the contracted amount!!) and behind my back, no less!! This was not enough, so Mark decided to try for the additional $150 anyway which caused quite a bit of friction between me and the mrs., no doubt! Being the good people that we are, the entire amount of the contract, the additional $1,000 plus the numerous beverages Mark helped himself to from our refrigerator was quickly paid. I asked Mark via email to call me and explain his reasons for playing on my wife's emotions and not contacting me, the guy who hired him in the first place and he never contacted me for a conversation. In my estimation, Mark is not a bad painter and is actually pretty good for a one man operation. Just be aware that he will do whatever it takes to get the job and then lament that he made a mistake and needs more money....He was a big disappointment to us in the end and a very disappointing businessman with very poor ethics.
Description of Work: Mark Patton (Owner/operator) of Patton Custom Painting contracted to paint the entire interior of our home which is 4200 square feet. He chose to do the entire job by himself without assistance and informed us after the job was underway that this was the single biggest painting job of his career.

Mark was recommended to me by my mother-in-law and brother-in-law. They had both hired him to paint the inside of their house and highly recommended him. He had a lot of walls to paint at my house (including those that we previously wallpapered so it took extra work to prepare for that job). He did an excellent job, was very friendly, trustworthy, and professional. He was also very helpful in picking out colors. The house looks great and we plan on hiring Mark again for more work. Would highly recommend him to my family and friends!
Description of Work: Sanded, spackled, caulked and painted approx 3200 sq ft interior walls.
