Good service

Jim quoted $500 to do a job worth $300 (dethatch 10,000 SF of lawn), He said he didn't use a machine but would come with two guys. I told him I like to be able to give a contractor his price so he can do the job he wants to do. He came as agreed but with only one helper who was a senior citizen older than me (i'm 77). He agreed the whole lawn would be "hard raked". I paid him at the end of the day without checking the job. It was raining and he is local. About a large half of the lawn was well raked but in a lot of places the thatch was untouched and if raked at all it was by his helper with the leaf rake. Jim advised by text the whole lawn had been raked and it was good enough for what was to follow. He made no effort to come and review the job or to satisfy me in any way. I spent another four to five hours raking out the worst spots; not work I was looking to do. Very disappointed.

Jim was very nice- reasonably priced, quick, reliable and did a great job. Would definitely recommend and will be using again in the future.

James was one of the few tree contractors who replied to our quote request, and the only one to make a firm and fair offer. James provided us with very good communication on how he was going to trim two of our trees and remove a third one which was not able to be saved. He came back to do the stump grinding within a couple of days, and also cut the tree that we could later split and burn the wood for our fire pit and fireplace.

The workers for James Ryan damaged my pool equipment. A tree limb fell and cracked a pvc plumbing line to the filter assembly. The worker denied doing the damage but eventually owned up and said he would have to pay for it. James Ryan said he is an honest businessman and would pay for the repair. He gave me $50.00 in cash and said he would pay any additional amount once the repair was completed by Aquavita Pools. I sent him a copy of the invoice to show him the total cost was $237.00. I have not received the additional money after waiting for three weeks. He has yet to prove he is an honest businessman.

I hired this company for two seasons in a row. I gave them a second chance and I had hopes of improved service. I was constantly charged for cuts that did not occur; it was an ongoing battle to have the invoices corrected (which they never were). The owner blamed it on his secretary. The first day they cut my lawn, the crew unnecessarily removed my 6 wide gate and placed it back on, backward. Believe it or not, it was a battle just to have the crew show up and provide the services that Mr. Ryan promised as a maintenance service. ONE DAY THEY MISSED MY CUT COMPLETELY BECAUSE THE CREW ACCIDENTALLY CUT MY NEIGHBORS LAWN INSTEAD. BTW, NONE OF MY NEIGHBORS HAD A FRESHLY MOWED LAWN THAT DAY. From my perspective, it seemed like a deliberate strategy of excuses, when they really just took on more jobs than they could fulfill with the size crew he hired. Could it be that the crew reported cutting my lawn every week when they really had not. It is possible. Either way, lesson learned - do not always take the lowest quote, because you get what you pay for (or in this case, I was asked to pay for what I did not get). I wish I could upload the multiple text messages with the owner to show just how lax they really were (at least with me).

Did not trim as much off the holly trees as I would. Other than that did a good job. Cleaned everything up. Rec'd an estimate to remove one & trim four maples. Surprised at the price, will shop around.

Mr. Ryan got upset and loud bec he wanted me to write postive things even though he refuses to complete a job that started in October 2017.So I did and still he's fasley stated he would return after several calls. I will file more complaints or small claims which should not have come to this. All I needed was a 15' pine and roots removed and he never bother to remove trunk and roots and he wonders why I rated him so low when I give others 5's. I will pay someone to finish his unfinished work.

He was responsive and kept his appointment. The owner himself came out. We negotiated a fair deal without any issues. I will use him again.

This was the second time I used Ryan and was very pleased. He was quick, explained what was being done and did a fine job. As a property manager/owner, he is my go to person for landscaping; I will keep him in my business directory.
