So happy with my new bathroom! Jim and his team did awesome work every step of the way. Jim presented a proposal and a plan with great advice , helped me choose fixtures, tile and overall design and helped me stay within my budget. The project was on time and with minimal disruption to my home. Communication was excellent …I always knew what was next, what time they were starting each day , when inspections were happening, etc. My house is 100 years old and gutting the bathroom presented some surprises but didn’t phase JRL Design! Jim even saved and rebuilt the original window and door. Also , because they expanded the bathroom and opened the wall to the next room, that whole room was restored beautifully as well. Overall, I had 100% trust in Jim and his team and knew from the beginning that he was invested in making sure I was very happy with the outcome. My master bath is now the nicest room in the house. Grateful to Jim and JRL Design.

Work took place approximately Oct 2020-Aug 2021. There were some materials shortages due to COVID so the project took longer than expected but Jim handled the scheduling and subs with expertise! The porch is amazing and we enjoy sitting out there year-round (with the fireplace, heater, and some vinyl tarps even in the cold of winter it is tolerable!!). Our outside oasis - free of mosquitos which are oppressive around here!

Jim LeBair of JRL Design, Inc., was great to work with. His designs for our new kitchen and family room were on point and very detailed. The renderings were creative and were done in a way to ensure that every square inch was used effectively and efficiently. We will definitely use JRL Design again in the future.

The work done was excellent, as was the follow up on any issues that arose. I especially appreciated the coordination of all the craftsmen so that everyone knew what the project was to look like and could get questions answered and contacts exchanged efficiently. They even met with the interior designer to make sure tone, texture and colors all worked. It was a long and complex project but the work was excellent and I could not be more pleased with the finished product. the house looks brand new.

The project was done very well; I am so pleased with the final product. The crew was professional and very thoughtful - they really sweated the details and had great ideas and suggestions to help me get just what I wanted. Even with the difficulties of COVID and supply issues, we were all just patient and I was kept informed on timing and issues as they came up and it turned out really, really well.

JRL spent time designing my bathroom, making suggestions and submitted a professional proposal with exactly what we discussed. We have had multiple meetings thru the process and I'm confident that I will have a beautiful bathroom in the end.

We have used JRL Design, Inc. and Jim LeBair for a remodel of our kitchen, family room, master bath and 2nd full bath. He and his team did a remarkable job on all projects and are trustworthy and very professional. He was responsive, attentive and completed the work in a timely fashion. We give him 5 stars without hesitation.

We already had kitchen designs and architectural specifications, however several contractors that met with us never provided estimates or flat-out ghosted us. I was getting a quote for hardwood flooring when I mentioned how much trouble we were having finding a company to demo our cold 1970s kitchen and install our state of the art open concept kitchen. The flooring contractor thankfully recommended Jim at JRL designs Inc. When Jim and I first spoke he wasn't going to take the job because he is also a designer and was not comfortable being in charge of a kitchen project when he was uncertain about the quality of the kitchen design. However, he agreed to meet with us and scope out the work. Thankfully he agreed to take the job. We were thrilled. We had been in flux with our cabinets in climate controlled storage for almost a year. Jim filed all the appropriate permits and set up all the inspections. We live in Upper Dublin Township and they are notorious for having a difficult permitting process… perhaps why we were having so much trouble finding a contractor. We set up our temporary kitchen in our den in preparation for the demo that started March 11, 2020. Jim set up containment, closing off the 20+ foot long opening to the kitchen from the rest of our house. I was concerned about construction dust around my family, my husband is asthmatic and I didn't want my children, one of which was six weeks old at the time, breathing it in. When we pulled up the carpet in the kitchen (that's right we had wall to wall carpet in the kitchen!), we had to also remove the 300 square feet of asbestos floor tile that was beneath it. We took everything out down to the studs. Demo was completed on March 12, 2020. The very next day All non-essential businesses were shut down due to covid-19. We were beginning to feel like our kitchen was cursed. Jim immediately started filing our paperwork to plead our case given our circumstances without a kitchen, including providing us with a portable dishwasher! That was a game-changer. It took several weeks, but the state approved the project to move forward and work began again. Jim purchased additional UV filters and HEPA filters to protect us, as well as, all of his subcontractors. Jim followed all social distancing rules and insisted that everyone help dead too. It kept me at ease during an already difficult situation for everyone. . Work was slow given social distancing, but Jim and his contractors stayed at it. All unforeseen issues were clearly communicated. Change orders and invoices or orderly and easy to track. Jim is an excellent Communicator which was greatly appreciated. So many things continued to go wrong, NONE of which were Jim's fault. One example was the countertops that I had picked out and put a deposit down on a year beforehand, were sold out from underneath me. I was furious and made repeated trips back to the warehouse to look at new slabs, none of which had the look I was going for. Once again, Jim stepped in and suggested I try a different vendor that he always deals with. The first trip there I found a slab that was even more beautiful than the original one I had picked out. He even worked out a deal that had the new vendor match the price I was given at the previous countertop company. We fondly refer to Jim as Saint James these days! Our kitchen is stunning! I love love love it! We plan to use Jim again when we tackle our1960s and 1970s style bathrooms, one of which has silver and gold foil wallpaper on the ceiling!

The work Jim and his team did to update an old office was top notch. They upgraded the electrical systems and lighting to support a great work-from-home environment, redid the woodwork, rebuilt the closet to be fully functional in an office setting and came up with a plan to update and upgrade the HVAC system and greatly improve the air quality All the workers were extremely knowledgeable and professional and took great care of my family’s health. They came up with a schedule that worked for everyone and the work was done timely and efficiently. I also appreciated the thoughtful suggestions and recommendations.

Absolutely terrific! The work done was beyond expectation. We needed to add things to the list (mid way our water heater leaked all over our finished basement). Jim brought in a superb flooring company who did an outstanding job, removing the indoor outdoor carpet, installing a luxury vinyl flooring and stair carpeting, removing the bottom 2" of knotty pine paneling and replacing it with stained matching wooden baseboards. The room now looks and smells better than we ever imagined. The carpentry work that was needed to bring our shed, deck, kitchen and basement up to our desired standards was outstanding. Charlie, the carpenter is a mathematical genius. He was able to hang doors, fix flooring in the shed, recreate the front panels of the shed, and hang doors perfectly. We had painting, staining and water sealing done on the the deck as well as the shed and Adirondack chairs. We also had interior painting done. The outcome was wonderful but there were issues with the process. Although Patrick was an amazing painter, there were times when he came unprepared to do the job and I had to go out to buy supplies for the job. This was less than optimal. The electrical work was done to our satisfaction however we did have to have the electrician return as he put in the incorrect bulb in the outside flood light (a motion sensor bulb) and we needed one that would stay on all night. He also put in a fan in the attic that was to keep the heat and humidity down but it was left on the factory setting and was going off at inappropriate times. Again, this was rectified without issue. Last but certainly not least, we had the roof done in a matter of 1 day in the heat of the summer. The job was fabulous. There was a MINIMAL number of nails and pieces of roofing. They performed the job beautifully, working till 7PM till the job was done. We had a less than optimal experience in the past with another contractor in Buffalo NY. The roofing was not completed in a day and the tarp over the roof leaked rain causing the hardwood floors to buckle. The team JRL design brought were very sensitive to our issues and completed the job in a day. In summary, I give JRL Design an A plus for quality, timeliness and overall satisfaction of work done in the time of COVID.

JRL was very responsive to our needs. We discussed what we needed and they came up with a plan that they shared with us.. Our opinion was sought on all details, from the color to the flooring to the fixtures. They were also very responsive if there was a concern. My husband and I worked with JRL Design Inc when we renovated our master bathroom recently. Since this bathroom is adjacent to our bedroom, we wanted to be sure that the decor was compatible with that room. Jim and his team listened to our concerns and helped us thoughtfully throughout the process. We now have a beautiful bathroom with all the features we wanted. A total bathroom renovation can be daunting to a homeowner. JRL Design did an excellent job of working with us to see that it went smoothly.

My husband spoke with the owner who indicated he wouldn't have time for the appointment until the following week which was fine with us. My husband the called 3 additional times and left a message each time in an attempt to schedule the consultation. We never received a call back even to say he was too busy to take new customers which is very unprofessional. Why advertise a deal for something if you aren't going to follow through?
Response from CHR Home Services, Inc.

"It is very important to us at JRL Design, Inc. to make sure we respond quickly and to all inquires. Our goals is to contact our customers with a phone call or at least an email within 24 to 48 hours. Sometimes we recieve requests from folks who require a different type of service to which we also respond and, if possible, recomned another professional to them. I received a call from Mr. [Member Name Removed] and spoke with him about he and his wife's kitchen remodel project. I have given him several times the following week to meet and he said he would call back to confirm. I received a second voicemail message requesting a time to meet. I responded to this call with a return call as well but recieved no return call back. I had assumed at this point that they had elected not to have me design their kitchen. Both as a service provider and a customer myself, it is very important to me to communicate live to folks. It certainly is a challenge in the age of our voicemail, texting and email but I make every effort to respond to both to my customers and potential customers as quickly and courtiously as possible. We truly appreciate the vaule one's time and our goal is to show this in our communication and the high quality work we perform as shown in are Angie's List "A" rating and Supper Service Awards . Thank you."

It went great. Jim and Marty (the project manager) were responsive to all of our concerns leading up to and the construction of our new front porch. We used JRL Design, Inc. for two projects over the past two years in and around our house. We liked the bathroom remodels (3 bathrooms) so much that we used Jim and Marty for our second project, the addition of a porch across the front width of our house. In the middle of the front porch addition we decided to have our house resided. Jim arranged for that to be done during the porch construction. I would definitely use them again. And probably will in the near future. As we still have a couple of things that we want to do in and around the house.

Marty and Jim from JRL Design were extremely professional and responsive for the entire duration of the project. During the design phase, Jim captured the look that we were aiming for, with widening the pass through to adding a breakfast bar and opening up the space into the living area. Their suggestion for reconfiguring the kitchen added more than ample cabinet and storage space and most importantly extra counter space for cooking and prep. They gave us options that were within our budget and priced out additional features that we could consider. We were never left in the dark as the project progressed. Marty gave me updates and responded to any questions that I had throughout the process. He helped talk me through some of the choices we had and offered great recommendations that fit into our desired kitchen and living space. Everyone we worked with and that JRL subcontracted to were extremely professional and their work was outstanding. JRL’s price quote was very transparent and they made sure we had the information we needed to stay in budget when selecting our finishes. We stayed on budget and on time. Our family and friends absolutely love the transformation of our kitchen as do we. I would highly recommend working with Jim and Marty at JRL design and hope to again on more projects in the future.

Jim is super courteous and responsive to questions. He has very reliable contractors that work with him and all are great quality. Marty, the project manager, is fantastic. He’s very thorough, super communicative, able to give you a full timeline, and has great craftsmanship. Everything was completed on time and the quality of the bathroom is great. In fact, we had a great moment where the tile layer made some recommendations with some excess material to create a wonderful niche which has become the focal point within the shower. Very happy with how this turns out which is our second successful project with Jim and Marty.
