I had seen Mariotti's on many TV segments doing renovations along with a reputation of good workmanship. I have come to find the reputation actually was based on the father prior to turning the business over to his son. First I had spoken with a salesman (J.F) who came to my house and took measurements and had drawn up a layout for our kitchen. The plan was agreeable and I went with the Home Crest line since it was all wood and we decided the installation would be the 1st or 2nd week of December since they would not be able to have it done before Thanksgiving. He was also made aware of my mother's health issues which would not allow her to be at home during the time of the kitchen being removed or while they installed due to severe COPD. She is unable to be around chemicals or the dust and dirt this would be causing and would be staying elsewhere while it happened. This is a serious matter which J.F. appeared to understand and assured me this would not be a problem as they could work with me and have this completed in her absence. He had met her so he knew how her health was and said he had a family member with the same issues.
I had to have the underlayment replaced and put under where the cabinets were being placed and I had that lined up to be done the same day which J.F. said was fine and would work for his crew. We agreed to December 10th as the tear out date. The flooring crew had showed as expected but couldn't do anything without the cabinets removed but said they would come back if we had them removed within a couple hours. Well since we couldn't put this off another 2 weeks my 74 year old father had to manually remove the cabinets himself. I was vivid and called J.F. and he said he didn't know why they didn't show up but would get back to me. To make a long story short the man in charge of scheduling was off this week and the now owner rearranged the schedule and sent the crew to finish up at another site. I have been using his initials since prior to my kitchen ever being completed be had been fired. This kitchen was a nightmare and trying to get in touch with J.F. was near impossible because I was not giving the final payment till the invoice was adjusted and the work completed properly. Well as Christmas quickly approached and my dining room was loaded with stuff that belonged in the kitchen, my patience wore thin. I called Mariotti's and they were not aware there was a problem but informed me that J.F. no longer worked there. She told me everyone was already off for the holiday and wouldn't be able to get back to me till after the New Year.
Well a bit after the New Year I did get a call back and after she had spoken with the new owner (the old owners son) he removed the $500 tear out fee off my bill and gave me a $150 gift card to the Olive Garden. The charge for tear out and removal was listed as $500 on my copy of the contract. This was no consolation for having a 74 year old man remove cabinets by himself along with upsetting my mother who isn't in the best of health. I also had to have her stay away longer due to the delay because they couldn't start the installation till the next day. After the installation of the pieces that arrived I had time to look over the work later that evening. I noticed the slow close doors were not installed which they blamed on J.F. which I don't know if it was his fault or not at this point and really don't care since it is their reputation and company. Some cabinet doors were not even and many drawers did not close completely, one drawer didn't even have the guide screw in on one side. I had to reach in through above the garage to hold it up to close it till they came to fix it. 2 of the cabinet doors had to be reordered because they were flawed, a piece came off when going over it with a Swifter duster. The drawers on an angled piece next to the refrigerator still don't close all the way. I was told that is just how that piece is and with time they will ease up. Its been over 2 months so maybe I don't have much hope it will improve. I was never told there were any issues with this item by the salesman and it is on display in the showroom.
I will say the guys who do the installation were pleasant to deal with so I blame poor management for my problems. The son was the person who caused the problem with the tear out by changing the schedule already in place. He is also the person I spoke with who deducted the $500 off from the invoice which was the standard charge listed. He didn't seem to realize or care the problem he caused or the potential problems that could have been caused by putting that kind of pressure on a 74 year old man. I thoroughly discussed my situation along with the time frame I was dealing with and they agreed they could do it. I would see it differently if I hadn't spoken with J.F. on several occasions to verify lining up the flooring and kitchen renovation but I had done my part. They should not make agreements they are unable to fulfill. We are talking about health issues and having to have someone stay somewhere else. There was a lot of work and planning on my part and I had to make adjustments to where she was staying so they should have lived up to their end.
I also was keeping in touch with them so they were aware that till completion the final $1299 would not be paid. They got in another set of doors which they did not check before coming to complete the kitchen and they were worse than the ones already there. This meant having to order another set and wait for them to come in. Between all this I received an invoice marked in red stating over due and I called them. She had to speak with Eugene and he sent his apologies and said it should have never been sent. The last 2 cabinets doors finally arrived in decent condition and our kitchen was officially finished on 2-7-2013. Just yesterday I received another past due invoice from them dated 2-28-2013. Apparently they do not update their accounting system either since I have an invoice marked paid here at my house. Also they are listing a $19.49 interest fee for past due, talk about adding insult to injury. I left them a message about the past due invoice stating it is paid in full, I will never recommend then to anyone and to never contact me again. If he has anything he disagrees with written in this review I suggest he takes a closer look at how he is running his company and how he chooses his employees. Some of the issues may have been the fault of his former salesman but some were his fault directly namely the scheduling change he did not make me or J.F. aware of. Schedules are set for a reason so don't make changes without seeing why it is setup in the first place.
I will be writing a review for the company that I used for the flooring in our kitchen and bathroom. Unlike Mariotti's they were great and I would recommend them in a heart beat!

The design was nice but the overall cost was too high. I did not go with them.

I went to their showroom to select the cabinets. Their price was excellent and they are beautiful cherry cabinets. Their price even beat Home Depot and Lowe's and they are very unique. The installation process was positive. I definitely recommend them.
