The project went well, but it is very dusty and has a lot of odor associated with it. Definitely want to do it in weather when you can open the windows. Takes several days to thoroughly air out.
Unfortunately, the recoating is starting to peal. I currently have about a 4and quot; area that has pealed. It has only a one year warranty, and peeling just started about one and one half years later. I have called Jeff three times leaving messages that I know warranty has expired, but I would like him to repair it and will pay a reasonable amount to get it done. He has not returned my calls.
I would definitely not recommend him due to lack of durability of product and non responsiveness even though I am willing to pay for the repair.
.Con #1: Talking to him on the phone, I asked a lot of questions about the prep work that I had to do before he came. I was mostly worried about the grout/caulk in the tub, he responded with no prep work was needed, because the glazing would cover everything up. To future buyers, this is wrong. If you are unhappy with your grout, this re-glazing won't work if you don't prep it/replace it. I am very unhappy with the outcome.
Con#2: The day of the work, I was not home so he only dealt with my husband (issue #1, I would have been more thorough) Jeff did not do any prep work of his own before he started. He did not tape off any of the walls by the tub, so over spray got everywhere (you can not remove this on the walls once it is there, unless you repaint). He had to vent the fumes through an open window, which again he did not cover my possessions (nor did he ask my husband to cover them) before he started, so there was dust over everything (not happy). The re-glazing took about 3 hours. FYI: Make sure you have extra lighting for the job, Jeff comes with a lower grade light that he worked with as his only light source (our bathroom did not have electricity at the time).
Con#3 and the most important: Jeff did state, that there would be some areas that would have to be touched-up/repainted and he would come back at a later date to do this. He advised this was part of the total cost and to just call him and he would set up an appointment. To this date (nearly 3 months later), he will not return any of my phone calls/emails to come and touch up areas that are not acceptable. If you have him come out, don't let him leave until you are completely satisfied, because you won't see him again.
Overall, the ugly tiles are re-glazed white and do look a lot better, mission accomplished! But as you get closer to the tiles, there are drip spots, unpainted areas and tiny bubbles all over, which makes the bathtub look like a novice completed the job. In the end, I should have just used Rust-o-leum and glazed the tub myself, would have been a lot cheaper and I would have been more detail oriented.
D. A little over a year ago, we had Jeff refinish a blue cast iron tub in a lower level bathroom to make it white. At that time, he was very responsive and positive, and his price was great, so I gave him the job. As soon as the job was done, we noticed a lot of little bumps in the finish. He assured me that the bumps would go away in time. He told me to give it a year, which seemed rather long, but we followed his direction. So there we were, a year later, and the bumps were still there. The original blue finish was also showing through in spots. I left Jeff countless messages and texts and was always very nice and even mentioned I was worried that something had happened to him. (I documented each call.) Finally, about a month ago he called me and promised to come out the following week, and added I should call him that week to get it scheduled. I called, but he never got back to me. In fact, I've called him multiple times since then, but now I’m giving up. His workmanship was ultimately disappointing, and he just doesn't honor the warranty as he’d promised.
Sorry Jeff, I know others have been happier with your work, but this wasn't a professional effort.
