another $367). This helped. If installed correctly, Unico boasts that their system provides very even cooling; only one or two degree difference in any two rooms.
As I started to use the system more, I quickly realized it was taking hours to reduce the temperature by just 1 or 2 degrees, even when the outside temperature was in the upper 70's to low 80's. Some days it ran nonstop from 9:30am to 9:30pm when the outside temperature was in the mid 80s (and the thermostat was set at 76). I couldn't get it to drop to 75. Vince came back and
checked everything out. He said the system was performing appropriately. Then he asked me when I had the ridge vent installed in my roof. I told him it was there since before I purchased the house. He said he didn't notice it when he made his recommendation for the 2.5 ton system and the attic fan. He told me the attic fan wouldn't work properly with a ridge vent. It won't allow the air to circulate from the eves and therefore wouldn't cool the attic properly, which in turn causes the A/C to struggle to cool the house. He even mailed printouts to me from the website of the attic fan maker, which detailed the information he was telling me. His recommendation was to have the ridge vent blocked from the inside to solve the problem. So I asked him when he could come over and block the ridge vents. He insisted that it wasn't his responsibility since he subcontracted out the installation of the attic fan, even though he was the HVAC professional who recommend a 2.5 ton system with an attic fan, and he was the one who installed a 2.5 ton system.
I have since obtained opinions from two reputable HVAC professionals who informed me that the problem is the A/C system that Vince installed is undersized for my house. That's why it's performing so poorly. Vince refuses to stand behind his work and correct the problem.
