This was a big job and Tom was awesome. He asked me for 1/3 of the payment for all the parts he had to buy which I thought was fair; other contractors wanted 1/2 up front. He was there and personally managed, tested and completed the job. I would hire him again and can only hope he is not too busy when I need him! :)

I am a single mother with two small children and called Tom about a circuit that was tripped. He said he would come that day. He showed up with a second guy. I told him in addition to the living room lights, the dining room light had been out as well and that my son had thrown a stress ball up into it. He got my step stool and found that the stress ball had popped and blown the circuit as it had had water inside. Removed it. Tried to blow dry the fixture dry but it kept tripping. So he removed the fixture and put in a temporary light. All while the second guy stood and watched and filmed some of it on his phone. He may have grabbed a tool out of the car. They were in at 10:15 and out at 10:45. He gave me the bill for $238.65. $95 for the service call (said he usually charges more for an emergency- which I had never said it was. And charged $135 for the labor of 2 men for an hour. I understand that it is customary to charge by the hour in the industry even for a 1/2 hour job, but to charge for 2 hours of labor for a half an hour job while one just stood is unreasonable. I questioned this and he said that he usually has two guys in the van and doesn't know what the problem will be. So even though this job didn't require two men I would still be charged for the second one as he brought him just in case. He also said it was to help cover their travel time..... which I would assume is what the service fee is for. I would never use him again.

Tom was awesome to work with. He is very thorough, honest, and hardworking. The wiring in my 1940s home was largely original, which presented problems along the way. Tom was upfront with changes that had to be made from the original estimate and always offered options. I would highly recommend him and will be using him in the future.

Excellent work. Tom showed up early and started immediately. He uncovered a number of wiring anomalies, and gave me options for fixing them. The ceiling fans were particularly difficult, given that there was no pre-existing light fixture/power in those ceilings. Tom drilled holes, pulled wires, patched the holes and cleaned up to my satisfaction. There was no down time...Tom worked quickly and efficiently.

Tom returned calls promptly and came out to inspect damage and give an estimate the same day he was called. I will definitely use Amped Up again when I need a dependable and qualified electrician.

Incredible! They were in the area when we called on the way to another job and said they'd be at our house in 20 min which they were! Took 20 min to replace the switch and our house power was restored! Very professional!

Couldn't be happier with the responsiveness and work product. These guys are great - very professional and knowledgeable, and do high quality installations and repairs. Their prices might be just a little higher than you'd pay someone else to do the same work, but they're very fair. And, it's worth it to know you're getting safe and professional work done, that will last.

I couldn't ask for more. I called at 11:30a.m. on Sunday and Tom had it fixed by 1:30 p.m. I think he dropped what he was doing to come to my home and did a thorough analysis of all the affected outlets as well as the circuit breaker and carefully explained what he was seeing and doing. I'll definitely have him back to work on more electrical issues in our home.

We needed emergency service because the power line was ripped from the side of the house by a falling tree limb during a severe storm. Tom re-arranged his schedule to accommodate our needs. He discovered that our circuit panel had also been damaged and repaired it as well as bringing all outside connections, including the meter, up to code. He negotiated with our insurance company to make certain that we got coverage for the repairs. He also was able to get the necessary permits and city inspection within a day. The work done was excellent.

Tom was busy but came in early one morning to knock out our jobs. Very clean and efficient. Took the time to hang the lamps evenly. Even reset the landscaping after being in the garden. Was knowledgeable.

He said he could not fix the problem, was not the kind of work he does. He insisted on looking at my circuit breaker as well and giving an estimate on those. He then asked for $130 even though no work was done. I paid him.

"We will not refunding any money.Customer contacted me about 4 weeks ago to come estimate what it would take to get her fireplace fans operating again.I explained to her via phone that in order to see why something is not working requires a visit to troubleshoot the issue. She agreed to us coming out which we did a few days later.Upon opening access to covers we found that these fans that had stopped working were small desk top fans that were designed to set up on a desk and plug into the wall. These fans were altered and crammed into this small space and cord ends had been cut off and wires were taped to old frayed 120 volt wires (open splice) on both sides of fireplace. We showed her that this was not safe as well as not to code. She explained that her late husband had done this years ago and she asked us to disconnect 1 that was not working which we did. This work took about 20 mins.As we were writing up the invoice for the $130 Service call which was 2 men with trip for an hour she had brought up some other concerns with things in the basement. We then removed cover off of main box and explained to her all the wiring/code violations as well as some other hazards in basement. All this was approximately was an additional 30 mins.We then gave her an estimate to replace breaker box and bring stuff to code which we did and she asked if she could pay in 2 payments which I told her would be fine. She said she would call in a few weeks, instead I received a complaint about refunding money 3 weeks after services were completed."

Our drier breaker on our push panel failed. Tom came out quickly and diagnosed the situation and determined the best route was to replace the panel although he did offer to just do the breaker. He reworked his schedule to squeeze us in so we could get back in working order quickly. He and his assistant were very courteous an professional. Tom explained what he was doing and I felt assured they could be trusted to complete the job without me there. They closed up behind themselves and came back the following week to install the light fixture and explain the panel. They kept the interior very clean while they worked and cleaned up afterwards. They did their best to make sure the fixture was secure in the ceiling given a complicated joist situation. Before they left they labeled the circuit panel breakers to help with future work on the house. There prices seemed fair for the work being done.

I contacted Tom Jewkes from Amped Up Electric after being referred by a family member and reading very positive reviews about him on Angie's List.  Working with Tom was very easy and pleasant.  He was easy to contact and we were able to quickly set up a time for him to visit our home to talk with us about our lighting needs.  During that visit, he made sure to provide suggestions and gave helpful information to guide us through the process.  Following the visit, he responded quickly with a cost estimate for the work to be completed.  We were able to schedule the work quickly and Tom was very accommodating and flexible with his time.  He arrived right on time on the day that the work was to be completed and he and his co-worker worked diligently until everything was finished and in perfect working order.  He also gave us some suggestions for future lighting work that we are considering.  The charge for the work completed was identical to the estimate that was given to us, which we found to be very fair and comparable to estimates that other professionals had given to us, as well.  In the end, we are very happy with the work that Tom did for us and will definitely be contacting him for future lighting and electrical needs.
