We chose Klipa Custom Contracting not only based on the price, but we loved Justin Klipa's confidence and understanding of what we needed done. It took us awhile to get on the schedule as Justin is very busy, and I fully understand why after seeing his work. We have a 2-room addition on our house with a very short crawl space underneath. We knew 10 years ago that there was a problem with the floor sagging between the rooms when we bought the house and over the years it had just gotten worse. There also had been a wood burning stove in one of the rooms that had been removed. Left over was a large cement section poured into the floor. Justin and his team busted up the cement, and used that as the access point to get in the crawl space to install a steel beam to better support the too long span of the floor joists in use. They managed to get it level, bringing the floor up a full 3 inches! The floor is solid now, where before we had to walk gingerly as it would move. The beam is supported on cement with a pole in the middle and on each end on the foundation block. I can close my bedroom door now, and there's space above it! It's such a relief to have this fixed as I really thought it was just all going to collapse one day. He covered the open area with plywood to bring the floor level with the rest. There is still carpeting in that room we had planned to replace, and now we're ready to do that. As we were beginning this job, my neighbor's grandson accidentally broke a basement window. I had always wanted glass block windows, and asked Justin if he could manage to install some while on this job. I also had a broken corner on our front masonry porch, that needed repaired. Justin got me great windows, and repaired the porch too. He even created lines in the cement repair to match the existing block. I'm having him come back for more interior work over the Winter. Overall the best experience with any contractor I've had. It wasn't just his work that impressed me. The confidence I saw that first day when he gave his estimate carried throughout the job. I loved how he handled his crew as well. He answered all my questions about various things I needed done in my house, and he left here with a list of what we still want to get done. My daughter has Autism, and when I explained the need for communication as far as when they would be in the house and warning when there would be noise, they fully understood and complied. I couldn't have wished for a better outcome overall.
Description of Work: Addition floor restructure, update to previous estimate review.

The job was done with amazing quality and professionalism. I've had Justin & Dan work on my house before and this is not my first review. Initially we were going to have one bathroom remodeled, but it soon made more sense to get both done at once. The one above needed love too, and if a problem would arise up there, the downstairs bath would pay the price. I'm disabled, and Justin did his best to accommodate my needs. I think the before & after pics speak louder than anything else i could say. They are of the downstairs bath. They are amazing to work with. He's a busy guy, you might need to wait for him. They are definitely worth the wait!
We are so pleased with the work done and the attention and time Justin and his crew took to give us the laundry room we envisioned! We did not make it easy, since the space was limited and my existing washer and dryer are on the larger side! However, Justin listened to our needs, created workable and aesthetic improvements, kept the worksite orderly and consistently clean, and completed the project on time and on cost. We highly recommend Klipa Contracting!
Description of Work: We needed a first floor laundry room. Justin responded promptly and listen to our request to install a fully functioning laundry/mudroom within a dead space area of our garage. The space would house our washer and dryer with all hookups and would be fully accessible to our home via an exterior and interior door. The project included full completion: walls (framing, insulation, drywall), plastering and paint, trim, tiled floor, heat, electrical outlets, doors and thresholds, in addition to the work required to create a washer drain, dryer exhaust and electrical, where none had existed.

See above response describes my issues with this contractor.
Description of Work: The other reviews that said that this contractor did not respond are accurate. I called two times over the last month and I emailed the owner of the company, Justin, and never heard anything. If it's a job they can't, or don't want to do, then at least have the courtesy to respond and tell me. I'm sure they will make the excuse they never got the voice mail because that seems to be their common refrain, but , perhaps it's time to get a better answering machine. What's the excuse for no email?
This is my second review for Klipa Contracting Company. Justin, Nick and Dan did a fantastic job on the interior of our addition. It’s like we have two brand new rooms! They did everything they said they would and more. My husband and I are very pleased with the quality of the work. They care about what they do, and it shows. Now, like all good things, one must wait for Justin. He’s busy, but it’s because he’s awesome at what he does. Patience totally pays off. We’ve had so much rainy weather, that I know it has put him behind on other projects. We’ve also had prior good weather that kept him from doing our job over the Winter as planned. I could probably view this as a negative, but acts of God are beyond anyone's control. It was totally worth the wait! Justin and crew were so wonderful the first time around, fixing our sagging floor in the addition, I decided I didn’t ever want anyone else working on my house. Klipa Contracting Company has a customer for life! Thanks so much Justin!
Description of Work: Restructured party wall in addition, Resurfaced all walls and ceilings, installed a new bedroom door, Trimmed a window, sliding door, closet, and baseboard in entire addition, added an electrical outlet and replaced outlets and switches where necessary, installed lighting to both rooms, primed and painted both rooms, and installed a new gutter.

First, let me say I have had some experience in contracting, both personally and professionally and have worked with several contractors. Simply put, Justin Klipa is the best I have ever dealt with. Justin and Danny were on the job from beginning to end and it was very obvious they have worked together for many years. All of the workers were always friendly, courteous, respectful and most important - professional. (Not to mention trustworthy.) My wife & I felt so comfortable with Justin & Danny, we gave them the garage door code. Justin was always on top of things - even jobs completed by sub-contractors. (excavators, masons, insulators), Justin was there, over-seeing that the job was done right. As with any major project, ?bumps in the road? and problems will arise. In our case, anything that came up was handled and solved with everyone?s best interest in mind. Whether it was something major (a miss-calculation by the architect with the roof pitch) or very simple (like changing a paint color), Justin did an absolute fantastic job addressing and figuring out the solution - always discussing and accommodating my wife & me. I have already recommended Justin to relatives, friends and neighbors and will continue to do so. You can't go wrong with Klipa Contracting.
Description of Work: Large addition to existing house - approximately 850 square feet; entryway with built in aquarium, laundry, master bedroom, ensuite and large walk-in closet. Also built large screened-in porch, patio and re-sided entire existing house.

We had never before hired a contractor. Justin was very helpful and easy to work with and made suggestions when asked. He would patiently answer all our questions and never made us feel uncomfortable. The project took about 3 1/2 months. There was virtually no disruption to the rest of our house. The work area was very neat and was always clean at the end of the day. All the workers, including a handful of subcontractors, were very professional and pleasant. As the project progressed, we had several changes and additions. Justin made these changes without question. We could not be happier with the quality of the work done. We would not hesitate to use Klipa Contracting again and could not recommend them any more highly.
Description of Work: We put on a 16x20 addition with a laundry room and storage on the main level and a full basement. We also had a roof put over our deck.
Justin Klipa Contracting provides high quality service at a reasonable price. Justin is professional, yet personable and takes the time to make sure you are getting what you want. He does not skimp on quality, but does not try to nickel and dime you either. His workers were courteous and respectful and they cleaned up after themselves. The work was also completed in a timely fashion. An example of the service that Justin provides is when we had a horrific evening storm at the worst possible time during the construction project, when an existing flat roof had been removed in anticipation of the addition. Even though Justin and his crew had thoroughly covered and secured the areas with tarps, the wind and rain of this violent storm caused inside leaking to start occurring. We called Justin (at night) and he sent someone over right away in order to get the leaking to stop. He couldn't control the weather, but he responded promptly to the "emergency" and replaced ceiling tiles damaged by the leaks for free. This customer service was greatly appreciated and is just an example of what our experience was with Justin. We would hire Klipa Contracting again in a heartbeat and recommend them highly!
Description of Work: Built a second floor addition on our house that included two bedrooms and a hallway. Built the roof for this addition as well as replaced the existing roof and gutters on the rest of our house. Installed stove piping on the outside of our house for a wood burning stove.

Mr. Klipa arrived on time and as scheduled. After seeing what we needed to be done, he sent me an estimate as promised. We are still in the process of receiving estimates and have not yet chosen a contractor, but Mr. Klipa is definitely in the running. He seemed confident, knowledgeable and understanding of our needs. From what he said, I'm confident that he can do the work. Overall a great experience.

Justin and his crew did an amazing job finishing our basement. He captured the vision I had and turned it into a reality. The remodel was not an easy job and Justin was willing to work with me until we were satisfied with the results. The job included a custom shiplap ceiling with faux beams. The beams were fabricated by Justin and his crew. The trim was custom rough cut pine and completely fabricated by the crew. Justin also fabricated 2 large rolling barn doors separating a room, another rolling barn door that is the doorway into the room, and 11 various entry, closet, and access barn doors. Each was custom made for the space it occupies. The cabinets were purchased from a cabinet company but installed by Justin. The bar was completely custom fabricated by Justin. The bar includes rough cut pine trim and hand laid field stone that matches a fireplace in the gameroom. It was a pleasure having Justin and his crew working at our house. They did an amazing job of keeping the work site clean and safe. Every night each tool was put away, the floor was swept and all scrap lumber was stacked neatly. I was able to speak with Justin on a daily basis. He kept me updated with the progress and we were able to resolve any issue immediately. We have received numerous compliments on our basement. It truly is one of a kind. I would highly recommend Klipa Contracting Company. I plan on using them for future work.

First United Methodist Church 310 Oak Street Irwin, PA 15642 724-863-6858 To Whom It May Concern: It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Justin Klipa, of Klipa Custom Contracting of North Huntingdon, PA. Justin was the general contractor for a remodeling project at the First United Methodist Church of Irwin, where I serve as Trustee Chairperson. I had the pleasure of working with Justin and his associates on the renovation of the restroom facility at our church in February and March 2014. The scope of the remodeling involved a complete renovation and remodel of a very old, out-dated restroom measuring approximately 30? x 40?. Existing walls, ceiling, and floor were removed - the room was gutted. New flooring, framing, drywall, plaster, electrical, and plumbing were installed. New sinks, toilets, lighting, and fixtures were put in. Walls were painted. Doors and wood trim were stained. Ceramic tile floor was installed. First impressions are lasting impressions! From our original telephone contact all the way through the renovation, Justin Klipa was extremely polite and mannerly - a consummate gentleman and professional. He was accurate in his initial assessment of the scale and cost of our project. He was absolutely clear in his record keeping. When our project was completed, all work was done as described and agreed upon, and there were no hidden costs, extra expenses or unpleasant surprises. At one point during renovations, I became aware that additional work needed to be done (because of hidden problems that were not apparent until the plumbing work had commenced.) Justin took care of the problem without passing the expense on to our church. I confirm that Klipa Custom Contracting delivered exactly as promised...and more! When I first visited the job-site, I quickly realized that Justin chose and managed his sub-contractors well. They were knowledgeable, skilled, and competent in their respective trades. Our project was done with care and precision. The quality of work done was consistently top notch. They were very hard workers and their pride in their work was evident. Justin Klipa?s excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills and commitment to follow-through are assets which are beyond reproach. From the original itemized job quote to recommendations made to meet ADA requirements, his knowledge and understanding of the laws combined with the needs of the church and those that use our facilities was valued. In addition to all technical and legal constraints, he was also very aware of maintaining the integrity of our 100+ year old building, especially when selecting doors, trim, wood and stain to match the existing woodwork in our church. The job was done over a period of several weeks and never, at any time, was the worksite in disarray. The crew enclosed their work and kept dirt, dust, and debris contained and to a minimum, never trailing throughout the church. The work area was cleaned up everyday. Hazardous materials or dangerous equipment was never lying around. The crew was extremely diligent in maintaining a safe work zone, cognizant of our congregation and the many outside groups that use our church. In addition to my inspections of the job-site, our lines of communications were always clear, informative, and helpful. Justin was available via his cell phone, text and email if I had any questions or concerns. I also add that Justin and his associates were extremely kind, considerate, and respectful to me, our Pastor and church staff throughout the entire job. In closing, I speak for the First United Methodist Church Trustees and our entire congregation when I say how very pleased we are with the final product. Our new restroom facility is beautiful and meets the needs of our church and community in every way. When we made our final walk-through, we knew immediately that we had made the best decision to hire Mr. Justin Klipa of Klipa Custom Contracting. In a world where shoddy workmanship and poor service are all too common, Justin and his associates are a rare find. The Trustees of First United Methodist Church would not hesitate to hire Justin again, or to recommend Klipa Custom Contracting to others. If you have any questions about our experience, please feel free to contact me at 724-863-8915. Sincerely, Tracy A. Hawley Chairperson, Board of Trustees First United Methodist Church, Irwin

Description of Work: I set up an appointment with Justin Klipa to come to the house and provide me with estimates for remodel of 2 bathrooms, kitchen, garage and patio. I called the day of the appointment which was June 10, 2014 to make sure we were still on and I got the answering machine. I left a message regarding the appointment. No one called back. I know the construction business is crazy but I thought he would still make the appointment. So we waiting all evening. I even called again and he never showed up. He never even returned any of my calls. I would never deal with someone like this who did not get back to me. I could understand if there was an emergency or something but not to return my calls is unprofessional.

[member name removed], I greatly apologize. I did miss your appointment inadvertently! I do greatly apologize that was not my intention to miss. I shattered my iPhone with my appointments & contacts...my wife got the business line numbers & assured me she called you to explain. She must have called and left the message on another client's voicemail. I understand your disappointment & apologize! I would never intentionally not attend an appointment. Best of luck with your project.

I was interested in doing this project for a year before consulting with Klipa. The job being requested was a large and unusual project that involved considerable demolition and building on top of a 40 yr old structure that was out of level. Other contractors that I had spoken to prior preferred not to take on the job. Mr Klipa not only took on the job, but offered advice to improve both the integrity and aesthetics of the project. The entire crew demonstrated professionalism, good housekeeping, and a great talent for interacting with customers (they were very good at communicating with my inquisitive wife...) When I aquired the project's 24 beams from the Amish, I discovered how heavy and akward 6"x10"x 20 ft fresh cut timbers could be. My first thought was that there is no way Klipa and his crew would be able to move or work with this product. Ifigured I could use them as guard rails or something later, but Klipa said "No problem, you'll be surprized what we can do with these timbers." I am glad he did, because the starbursts both inside and outside the home are spectacular and will remain a focal point for any visitor to the home! Despite working with an out of level 1st floor and dealing with the oddities of the existing structure, the end product was square and level. Since we refinished the wood exterior over the entire home to match the new structure, the entire house looks as if it were just built new. Since the crew has finshed, I have recieved many comments and inquiries from both visitors and even strangers that have stopped by. In order to limit exposure of the home interior to weather, the entire structure was built, walls enclosed, and roof shingled before the old roof was removed. Some long days were put in order to minimize time in this phase which involved cutting into the existing A frame roof where it met the 1st floor walls. After removing the old A frame from the inside, several large windows were installed into the new structure (many of them were 10' - 12' wide). These windows were the primary reason that I wanted to do this project. All of the windows look great and all function properly. Despite many people believing this project would never take place or that I was going too far for a view of the ski slopes, it is now a reality. Thank you Klipa Contracting for helping me make this possible!
Description of Work: Scope of Job: Remove A frame roof from 2nd floor of home and replace with 10' walls and sissor trusses. Length of roof replaced was 60' (floor space at end of job was 1800 sq ft). Construct roof over exterior 2nd floor deck. Finish the exterior of home (both old and new) with rough cut wood plank. Install soffit, fascia, and gutters. Utilize 6"x10" timber beams to construct starbursts both inside structure and in deck roof.

They came out, looked at the job and told me how they would do it. He never gave me the estimated price. I think he’s the most honorable of all of the companies I got a quote from. He has been in business for a number of years. It’s a family business. He was genuinely concerned as to how best to do this work. He did not think that any of the approaches that had been suggested was gonna work. He thought that the concrete floor was more damaged than they were saying. After doing research, he decided to not quote what we want to do to repair the garage floor. I thought he was genuine and showed a lot of integrity.

It went very well. The siding was not available anymore, but they were able to fashion together another piece and looks just as good as the original. They showed up with a proper sized crew and were able to knock out the whole job in 1 day and were extremely professional about it. Justin Klipa was very pleasant to deal with and explained everything to me in a way that I could understand easily.

It went really well. It took some time though. First Justin did the tear out work and then the rough in work (electrical panel, sanitary drain, load barring beam, electrical wiring, wndows and re-plaster). Then he went away while the plaster cured I had the kitchen, LR, DR, foyer & powder room painted. Then he came back and installed the vanity, cabinets, island, wall outletss & switches and lighting. Then he had to go away again while the floor was installed. Then he came back again and installed interior doors, trim & baseboards. Also installed range & frig. Then we all waited a few weeks while my granite supplier fabricated & installed the counter tops. Finally he came back for the last time and installed the kitchen faucet, disposal & disgwasher. With all the different work crews involved I felt that time lost between consecutive steps was really minamal (except the granite install). We're very happy with the job Justin did for us. He definitely exceeded our expectations. His range of construction skills (plimbing, electical, structural support, rough & finish carpentry, etc.) allowed us to get all our work done through one very compatent contractor. His attention to the small details and finished look was also way above that of most others. Also, his team cleans up as they go -- no hugh messes left when they finish each day. We'll be hiring him again for our next project.
Description of Work: Installed new 200 amp electric distribution panel, Enlarged entry way from foyer to living room. Moved 3 inch sanitary drain pipe out of kitchen balk head to allow for new to-ceiling kitchen cabinets. Installed gas line for new range/oven. Removed kitchen/living room wall and installed new 18 foot load barring beam. Installed new kitchen outlets & GFIs. Installed recessed ceiling spot lights in kitchen & dininig room, island pendant lights, sink light and under cabinet lighting -- all on seperate dimmer switches. Re-platered entire kitchen & dining room ceiling and approximately 150 feet of wall (floor to ceiling). Installed new kitchen cabinets and powder room vanity. Installed new powder room counter top, sink, faucet & toilet. Installed kitchen faucet, disposal, range/oven, microwave, dishwasher & frig with water hookup. Installed all new windows throughout first floor. Installed all new interior doors throughout first floor. Painted & installed window & door trim & baseboard throughout. Customer purchased cabinetry & vanity, faucets, toilet, kitchen appliances and lighting seperately. Contractor supplied all else, including first floor windows.

I called them after I subscribed to Angie's List and he called back about a week later. It was acceptable because it was 4th of July weekend, understandable. He called back and tells me how he can do this, that and the other to repair my roof and stated that he will be on vacation in the next week and told me to send him an e-mail with ll my information and maybe he'll have one of his crew members to reach out to me while he was gone but nobody did. I gave him a few days after the week that he was on vacation and I called him and left a message stating that I'm still interested in acquiring his services and I've never heard one thing back from him.
