Justin and his team busted up the cement, and used that as the access point to get in the crawl space to install a steel beam to better support the too long span of the floor joists in use. They managed to get it level, bringing the floor up a full 3 inches! The floor is solid now, where before we had to walk gingerly as it would move. The beam is supported on cement with a pole in the middle and on each end on the foundation block. I can close my bedroom door now, and there's space above it! It's such a relief to have this fixed as I really thought it was just all going to collapse one day. He covered the open area with plywood to bring the floor level with the rest. There is still carpeting in that room we had planned to replace, and now we're ready to do that.
As we were beginning this job, my neighbor's grandson accidentally broke a basement window. I had always wanted glass block windows, and asked Justin if he could manage to install some while on this job. I also had a broken corner on our front masonry porch, that needed repaired. Justin got me great windows, and repaired the porch too. He even created lines in the cement repair to match the existing block.
I'm having him come back for more interior work over the Winter. Overall the best experience with any contractor I've had. It wasn't just his work that impressed me. The confidence I saw that first day when he gave his estimate carried throughout the job. I loved how he handled his crew as well. He answered all my questions about various things I needed done in my house, and he left here with a list of what we still want to get done.
My daughter has Autism, and when I explained the need for communication as far as when they would be in the house and warning when there would be noise, they fully understood and complied. I couldn't have wished for a better outcome overall.
This is my second review for Klipa Contracting Company. Justin, Nick and Dan did a fantastic job on the interior of our addition. It’s like we have two brand new rooms! They did everything they said they would and more. My husband and I are very pleased with the quality of the work. They care about what they do, and it shows.
Now, like all good things, one must wait for Justin. He’s busy, but it’s because he’s awesome at what he does. Patience totally pays off. We’ve had so much rainy weather, that I know it has put him behind on other projects. We’ve also had prior good weather that kept him from doing our job over the Winter as planned. I could probably view this as a negative, but acts of God are beyond anyone's control. It was totally worth the wait!
Justin and crew were so wonderful the first time around, fixing our sagging floor in the addition, I decided I didn’t ever want anyone else working on my house.
Klipa Contracting Company has a customer for life! Thanks so much Justin!
"Thank you Mr. & Mrs. [Member Name Removed]! You were a pleasure to work with!"
Justin Klipa Contracting provides high quality service at a reasonable price. Justin is professional, yet personable and takes the time to make sure you are getting what you want. He does not skimp on quality, but does not try to nickel and dime you either. His workers were courteous and respectful and they cleaned up after themselves. The work was also completed in a timely fashion. An example of the service that Justin provides is when we had a horrific evening storm at the worst possible time during the construction project, when an existing flat roof had been removed in anticipation of the addition. Even though Justin and his crew had thoroughly covered and secured the areas with tarps, the wind and rain of this violent storm caused inside leaking to start occurring. We called Justin (at night) and he sent someone over right away in order to get the leaking to stop. He couldn't control the weather, but he responded promptly to the "emergency" and replaced ceiling tiles damaged by the leaks for free. This customer service was greatly appreciated and is just an example of what our experience was with Justin.
We would hire Klipa Contracting again in a heartbeat and recommend them highly!
The job included a custom shiplap ceiling with faux beams. The beams were fabricated by Justin and his crew. The trim was custom rough cut pine and completely fabricated by the crew. Justin also fabricated 2 large rolling barn doors separating a room, another rolling barn door that is the doorway into the room, and 11 various entry, closet, and access barn doors. Each was custom made for the space it occupies. The cabinets were purchased from a cabinet company but installed by Justin. The bar was completely custom fabricated by Justin. The bar includes rough cut pine trim and hand laid field stone that matches a fireplace in the gameroom.
It was a pleasure having Justin and his crew working at our house. They did an amazing job of keeping the work site clean and safe. Every night each tool was put away, the floor was swept and all scrap lumber was stacked neatly. I was able to speak with Justin on a daily basis. He kept me updated with the progress and we were able to resolve any issue immediately.
We have received numerous compliments on our basement. It truly is one of a kind. I would highly recommend Klipa Contracting Company. I plan on using them for future work.

To Whom It May Concern:
It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Justin Klipa, of Klipa Custom Contracting of North Huntingdon, PA. Justin was the general contractor for a remodeling project at the First United Methodist Church of Irwin, where I serve as Trustee Chairperson. I had the pleasure of working with Justin and his associates on the renovation of the restroom facility at our church in February and March 2014.
The scope of the remodeling involved a complete renovation and remodel of a very old, out-dated restroom measuring approximately 30? x 40?. Existing walls, ceiling, and floor were removed - the room was gutted. New flooring, framing, drywall, plaster, electrical, and plumbing were installed. New sinks, toilets, lighting, and fixtures were put in. Walls were painted. Doors and wood trim were stained. Ceramic tile floor was installed.
First impressions are lasting impressions! From our original telephone contact all the way through the renovation, Justin Klipa was extremely polite and mannerly - a consummate gentleman and professional. He was accurate in his initial assessment of the scale and cost of our project. He was absolutely clear in his record keeping. When our project was completed, all work was done as described and agreed upon, and there were no hidden costs, extra expenses or unpleasant surprises. At one point during renovations, I became aware that additional work needed to be done (because of hidden problems that were not apparent until the plumbing work had commenced.) Justin took care of the problem without passing the expense on to our church. I confirm that Klipa Custom Contracting delivered exactly as promised...and more!
When I first visited the job-site, I quickly realized that Justin chose and managed his sub-contractors well. They were knowledgeable, skilled, and competent in their respective trades. Our project was done with care and precision. The quality of work done was consistently top notch. They were very hard workers and their pride in their work was evident.
Justin Klipa?s excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills and commitment to follow-through are assets which are beyond reproach. From the original itemized job quote to recommendations made to meet ADA requirements, his knowledge and understanding of the laws combined with the needs of the church and those that use our facilities was valued. In addition to all technical and legal constraints, he was also very aware of maintaining the integrity of our 100+ year old building, especially when selecting doors, trim, wood and stain to match the existing woodwork in our church.
The job was done over a period of several weeks and never, at any time, was the worksite in disarray. The crew enclosed their work and kept dirt, dust, and debris contained and to a minimum, never trailing throughout the church. The work area was cleaned up everyday. Hazardous materials or dangerous equipment was never lying around. The crew was extremely diligent in maintaining a safe work zone, cognizant of our congregation and the many outside groups that use our church.
In addition to my inspections of the job-site, our lines of communications were always clear, informative, and helpful. Justin was available via his cell phone, text and email if I had any questions or concerns. I also add that Justin and his associates were extremely kind, considerate, and respectful to me, our Pastor and church staff throughout the entire job.
In closing, I speak for the First United Methodist Church Trustees and our entire congregation when I say how very pleased we are with the final product. Our new restroom facility is beautiful and meets the needs of our church and community in every way. When we made our final walk-through, we knew immediately that we had made the best decision to hire Mr. Justin Klipa of Klipa Custom Contracting. In a world where shoddy workmanship and poor service are all too common, Justin and his associates are a rare find. The Trustees of First United Methodist Church would not hesitate to hire Justin again, or to recommend Klipa Custom Contracting to others. If you have any questions about our
experience, please feel free to contact me at 724-863-8915.
Sincerely,
Tracy A. Hawley
Chairperson, Board of Trustees
First United Methodist Church, Irwin
I was interested in doing this project for a year before consulting with Klipa. The job being requested was a large and unusual project that involved considerable demolition and building on top of a 40 yr old structure that was out of level. Other contractors that I had spoken to prior preferred not to take on the job.
Mr Klipa not only took on the job, but offered advice to improve both the integrity and aesthetics of the project. The entire crew demonstrated professionalism, good housekeeping, and a great talent for interacting with customers (they were very good at communicating with my inquisitive wife...)
When I aquired the project's 24 beams from the Amish, I discovered how heavy and akward 6"x10"x 20 ft fresh cut timbers could be. My first thought was that there is no way Klipa and his crew would be able to move or work with this product. Ifigured I could use them as guard rails or something later, but Klipa said "No problem, you'll be surprized what we can do with these timbers." I am glad he did, because the starbursts both inside and outside the home are spectacular and will remain a focal point for any visitor to the home!
Despite working with an out of level 1st floor and dealing with the oddities of the existing structure, the end product was square and level. Since we refinished the wood exterior over the entire home to match the new structure, the entire house looks as if it were just built new. Since the crew has finshed, I have recieved many comments and inquiries from both visitors and even strangers that have stopped by.
In order to limit exposure of the home interior to weather, the entire structure was built, walls enclosed, and roof shingled before the old roof was removed. Some long days were put in order to minimize time in this phase which involved cutting into the existing A frame roof where it met the 1st floor walls.
After removing the old A frame from the inside, several large windows were installed into the new structure (many of them were 10' - 12' wide). These windows were the primary reason that I wanted to do this project. All of the windows look great and all function properly.
Despite many people believing this project would never take place or that I was going too far for a view of the ski slopes, it is now a reality. Thank you Klipa Contracting for helping me make this possible!
The siding was not available anymore, but they were able to fashion together another piece and looks just as good as the original.
They showed up with a proper sized crew and were able to knock out the whole job in 1 day and were extremely professional about it.
I will be using them for future projects in the future and would recommend them to anyone.
Justin Klipa was very pleasant to deal with and explained everything to me in a way that I could understand easily.
We're very happy with the job Justin did for us. He definitely exceeded our expectations. His range of construction skills (plimbing, electical, structural support, rough & finish carpentry, etc.) allowed us to get all our work done through one very compatent contractor. His attention to the small details and finished look was also way above that of most others. Also, his team cleans up as they go -- no hugh messes left when they finish each day.
We'll be hiring him again for our next project.
I would definitely recommend them without hesitation. He finished the job as quoted even with some adjustments that were made. The job came out better than we expected because of some suggestions Justin made which we agreed to do. An example was adding brick to the bottom floor. Originally we were only going to brick about 3 feet up of the bottom floor. Justin made an offer to brick up to 8 feet at a very reasonable price. The difference in looks was unbelievable. This something that may not have been done with another contractor. Sometimes. as a home owner, you don't always see what a contractor who does this all the can see.
Also, his employees were as nice as he was.
.
The shower is an addition to the powder room and required extension of the existing walls. The installation, plumbing and electrical work went beyond our expectations. Following Installation, the walls are painted to match the existing powder room, the floor tiles are installed to perfection and one cannot tell that the shower is an addition at the end. The grout work for tiles was meticulous. The clean up after each day was outstanding and we hardly had to do any cleaning.
We were hesitant to add the range hood due to required work/ modifications in the house to install the duct work. He and his crew have installed the Hood over the range of our choice by following all the fire safety and code regulations. At no time did he or his staff tried to sell a product of their choice or inflate the cost of doing the work.
The electrical work in other rooms was out side the contract and done to perfection. His crew included excellent electricians, Plumbers and carpenters who are very meticulous, personable and trust worthy.
We intend to finish our basement next year and without doubt will be calling Mr. Klipa and his staff.
We recommend Klipa contracting highly without any reservation.
Our kitchen was much in need of renovation and remodeling, with our original ideas for the remodel including potentially removing one or two walls. We knew it would not be a super simple/straight-forward project, and wanted to find a contractor who had expertise in house construction, but would also have experience and know-how when it came to kitchen remodeling and design.
From the first phone contact with Justin, the experience was unique and matched us well. He shared quite a bit about what they do and don't do and asked us many questions over the phone to see whether proceeding would be of mutual interest.
Of all the contractors we talked to, Justin and his approach fit the best with what we were looking for.
He was a younger guy (vs. others we had talked to), but confident and experienced in the internals of house construction, and with a sense of design and how things should look or flow or fit together.
Because our project was not super straight-forward, they actually came in to do some preliminary gutting to make sure the scope of work that we would be agreeing to. We also had the additional challenge of being far into pregnancy and wanting/needing the project to be completed before the due date.
The price quoted for the project we thought was very fair, esp. given the scope of work.
Throughout the project, Justin kept in constant phone contact with us. He is very detail-oriented, which we are as well, so we appreciated that we felt things all along the way were being taken care of well, and in the right way, without shortcuts or bypassing our involvement or input. He also works well, not only with his own sub-contractors, but with other ones that we hired to do the flooring and HVAC re-routing. He not only does the work well, but manages the process and people very, very well.
He and his crew and his subs did an amazing job, from the big, difficult mini-projects to the smallest details, including:
1) Removing exterior brick wall to enclosed porch and replacing with beams in a header, extending the kitchen
2) Removing interior load-bearing wall to the dining room and replacing with beam in a header, opening up the kitchen
3) Re-working the enclosed porch walls, ceiling, and floor to make it a seamless part of the new kitchen
4) New plastered walls everywhere, including making a seamless patch job along the wall where a closet was torn out in the DR to K transition
5) New wiring and lighting (overhead, recessed, and along header) throughout
6) Baseboard throughout the entire area along the walls and cabinets to give a nice, continuous look
7) Installation of cooker hood vent to pipe through the exterior wall to the outside
8) Installation of HVAC ducting/vents underneath the toe kicks of the kitchen island cabinet to vent in two directions (DR and K)
The cabinet company/distributor they work with has very good quality product. The distributor wasn't the best in terms of communication, but product was really good, with a multitude of options and customizations.
The counter top company they use has very nice laminate product, including the ability to have an "under-mount" sink, which is pretty unique. We also had a kitchen island with a top that ended in a radial/semi-circle, and it came out nicely.
They did a great job with containing the mess and cleaning up at the end of every day. With one young child and a pregnant lady in the house, we appreciated that.
Justin had asked us to separately arrange flooring and interior wall painting. HVAC we also decided to arrange separately.
We did hit a snag mid-way in the process with the need to get building permits and two types of city inspection. Normal kitchen remodel does not require this, but our project did, and there was a short period where things were held up waiting for things to go through with the city and for an inspector to come out to our house.
We are very happy not only with the final product but how things were handled throughout!
And the project was completed right before the new baby was born, which was the goal all along :)
