Salesman Marty was polite but a bit distracted. I told him I wanted a 6 ft. gate, and he wrote it up as 3 ft. When I went to give my deposit to the owner, Frank, I pointed this out and he changed it on the paperwork, but at installation time, he had forgotten and I asked again about the gate size. Good thing I did.
The type of fence I got was in stock so they were able to start installing within a week. That seemed great. About 2/3 of the poles got installed on a Tues., Frank said he wouldn't be there on Wed. due to another job. I agreed with that, no problem. He said he would be back on Thur. to finish installing the poles himself. He showed up, dropped off some stuff and left in about 30 minutes, no poles installed. I called late Friday morning, because I was told my job would be finished Friday afternoon and I was concerned because I thought the cement had to harden 24 hours before you could put the fencing on.
He didn't answer, so I called Marty, the salesman and told him of my concerns. He said he would call Frank and find out what was going on. He called me back, was rather agitated, said that I was expecting this job to be done too soon and that the poles had to sit a few days before you could put on the fence. I said yes, I figured that but Frank never installed the rest of the poles like he said he was going to. Then Frank called me back and he was very rude and short and said he told me he was coming back Friday afternoon. When I tried to ask about the poles and why he didn't finish them the day before like he said, he yelled at me and said he was coming that afternoon and that he was busy.
Several other workers showed up, put the other poles in . Frank did also come and the fence did get put up. I did ask him if it was ok that they strung the fence even though the cement in all the poles hadn't hardened yet. He said it would be fine as long as the dog doesn't jump up against the fence.
In the end, the fence was completed as we agreed but I didn't appreciate the aggravation of being told one thing and then Frank not showing up when he said he would. I just don't feel that Frank was very professional in how he talked to me and how the installation was handled.
The fence does appear to look good and I am happy with it. Since this the only fence I've ever had installed, I'm not sure if all fence installers work this way, but in hindsight, I would have rather have paid a little more money to save myself the aggravation of the sporadic way mine was installed.
"Thank you for the message. The fence was installed correctly and in a timely fashion. Sorry for any inconvenience you may have had."
"Thank you."
Marty, the sales rep who came to our home to provide our estimate was professional, yet very friendly, down to earth, and MOST IMPORTANTLY - NOT PUSHY!!!! We told him what we wanted and he did not try to sway us from that. Ameri Pride came in $1000 lower than the next lowest bid we received, and that was for a TAN fence, not white (which I despise). All other estimates we received, in actuality, were $2000 or more due to the color differential.
I only had ONE concern - the literature that they provided me on the manufacturer. I am a "researcher" when it comes to anything for our home, internally or externally. I could not find anything about the manufacturer online other than the fact that they went out of business. I immediately called and spoke to Marty about this. Within 20 minutes of speaking to Marty, the CEO of the Manufacturer called me back (a company I actually had dealt with at a previous job). He explained to me that the literature referenced a "group"of Vinyl Manufacturers, not a company that happened to have the same name that had gone out of business. I explained to him that I had just wanted to verify in case there were ever any warranty issues that needed addressed. He offered to e-mail or fax me the warranty right then and there. Being that I work from home, I provided my fax number and I had it before I was even off the phone with him. The was a HIGHLY reassuring sign to me and knowing the manufacturer due to the previous interaction with them, I no longer had any doubts. OH - DID I MENTION THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS RIGHT IN PENNSYLVANIA????? That is pretty much as local as you can get when it comes to fencing!
We accepted the bid and were given an estimate of approx. 4 to 6 weeks for installation. Two weeks after ordering, they called and let us know the fence was already in! They set up the installation appointment within another week!!!! A total of THREE WEEKS!!!!! Awesome in my book ANY DAY!!!! Two days before the install, they came and delivered all of the fence and tarped it for protection. The day of installation, the installers arrived a few minutes earlier than expected. They were very cordial and laughed when I informed them that my neighbor is a real jerk (the reason we were having the fence put up and to try to not go on his property). They immediately measured directly on the surveyed property line, verified everything with me and started working. I told them if they needed to use the bathroom, let me know. They never did. They took NO BREAKS (and it was a HOT day!) and finished in about 6 1/2 hours. They apologized that one of the caps for the post was missing and promised to have it delivered (was done so about 2 weeks later). The fence looks PHENOMENAL! They walked the perimeter of the fence with me and explained everything about the fence - the expansion and contraction during hot/cold times, verified everything was done to my satisfaction and left absolutely no mess! They had put the dirt from the post holes exactly where I told them to.
I did wait almost a year to post this review, as with something like a fence, I wanted to give time to make sure it withstood at least 3 1/2 seasons of weather, including our wonderful Pennsylvania cold!!!!! Not ONE SINGLE PROBLEM! It still looks like the day it was installed! No warping, no sinking, no discoloration! The fence itself has been a blessing (die to the neighbor issue), but the quality of the fence and the installation was an even greater blessing!
Frank S. has a SUPER fence company (yes, I am running out of adjectives for Ameri-Pride!) If you want an absolute quality VInyl Fence priced MUCH lower than competitors, non-pushy salesmen and satisfaction, do not hesitate to contact Ameri-Pride!

Well, first of all Marty was great in the first meeting. Never heard from him during or after the job until I had a complaint. I told him I needed the fence up ASAP. Marty said no problem. Well, he sent ONE guy to fence in my 3/4 of an acre. Not a small job and way to big for one guy when you asked it be done ASAP. He wasn't a young guy either which isn't the issue. He was beat up everyday the poor guy! I have put fences up like this before but didn't have the time for this house. So I KNOW what to do and such. First thing I asked Marty was "HOW DEEP" do they dig the holes and do they concrete them. He said 30 inches and yes they do. Great! Well, the guy came to start the job and I was watching from the window and I heard the circular saw turn on. I went out and he was starting to cut 6 inches off the post. I asked him why are you cutting the post off? He said it was too long....HA I told him, "DIG DEEPER!" I told him my talk with Marty and he wasn't happy. He probably figured great this is going to be a pain the butt job with her watching. Yep he is correct. I mean I am paying a heck of a lot of money and I want it done RIGHT!! So he continued digging. After each day he left I measured each post which, was about 50 posts, and they were in the ground about 30 inches. THEN when he did have to cut for the rails I saw him throw the cut off pieces in the woods!! REALLY? Just because I have woods behind me doesn't give you the consent to trash it up. Not to mention the cig butts. Don't get me wrong the guy was nice but sorry, wouldn't have him do work at my house. Anyway, then came the setting of the pickets. I wanted them close to the ground because I have 2 100 lb dogs who like to know what's on the other side so any space under the pickets is an invitation to dig more. There were places where the pickets are like 3 inches off the ground!! Now he said you want to make sure it is high enough and I said height is ok at 5'6" but 3" under isn't. Now grant it I should have moved the leaves but do I have to do everything?? He also said the dirt built up around the posts is why. Ummmm...ok then move the dirt where the picket is going?? Again, I guess I could have done that as well. Wait, who is paying to have this done again??
Now to the gate hardware. I have Shepherds who are very smart. I told him I needed dog friendly gate latches. Meaning the kind my dogs CAN"T open. The ones that were installed were NOT! My dogs could so easily open the gates with just a paw. So I told the guy that these won't work at all for me. He said this is what we use all the time. I don't care if this is what you use all the time there are other styles out there that are dog friendly because I have used them many times! So I called Marty who never once contacted me during the whole process to see how it was going UNTIL I had an issue when his guy had to call off work due to an emergency. I understand why he had to call off. My issue was we are having issues with rain, snow and now a call off so I need a CREW here to finish this not ONE guy! Marty finally took care of it but then the original guy came back and we were back to the slow pace. Back to the hardware. The guy picked up another style of latches and these were much better but it would have been an unnecessary issue if they would have just listened to my needs as a customer!
Now it has been 5 months since it was completed and I was weed wacking around the fence and noticed that about 20+ pickets are NOT nailed completely. Meaning they should all have 6 nails each. 2 on top 2 middle and 2 bottom. There are numerous ones that have 2 or 3 mails or missed nails so yes they are coming off. There is NO REASON that any of the nails should have missed. Like I said I have built these fences before and you can totally see the 2x4 rail you are nailing to IF you take your time and PAY ATTENTION!! But one guy in a hurry will cause this issue. So now I have to go around after the fall when I can actually get behind the fence on the wooded side and renail these pickets. Something I SHOULDN"T have to be doing. My weed wacker actually knocked one loose! POOR QUALITY!
Now yes I could have called Marty and told him about the pickets but sorry, I feel that I would do a better job. I already have experienced their type of work and frankly....NOT IMPRESSED. I felt, and I told Marty this, that once they got my first half of the payment I was considered done.
Another thing that I didn't think of was the gate size. I didn't think of how big it should be for a riding mower because I didn't have one but my installer should have mentioned that when I said I didn't want it too big. he could have reminded me of the riding mower. I am now having issues getting a riding mower in there. Oh well, live and learn!
I am very fortunate that I know about building so I could have prevented other future issues.
I'm sure they do fine work in other styles. Maybe the other customers aren't educated enough to know if their work was performed properly or not. This is my experience with the company.
Another thing that bothered me was I asked about aluminum fencing for my dogs for a dog run. He said that big dogs can actually spread the bars apart and escape. He has seen it happen. So I asked him then why do you use them? He said the customers wasn't them. I asked, "Well, do you educate the customer and tell them that the dogs can escape?" He said, "No" Well, that is great customer service then......
It was January and I was franticly trying to find someone to replace my fencing. My dog was jumping the 4ft fence and my only option was to tie her when outside. She is a Pyr and prefers to be outside in the winter. This is her kind of weather!!
When I called Ameri Pride, the phone was answered by a real person! He said he would have his salesman call me right back. True to his word, Marty Matta called back and scheduled the appointment for Monday. It was Sat when I called.
Marty arrived on time and measured the fencing, talked about options and would get back to me for the estimate. He said they should be able to start the 6ft chain link right away since they were able to use to utilize the current posts. Music to my ears.
The aluminum fence would need to be ordered and it would take aproximately 2 weeks for the material to arrive.
When the aluminum fencing arrived, they were back on the job. The weather did prohibit them finishing for two days, so, they came back on Sat. to complete the job!!
The back yard is wooded and they needed to trim some trees and bushes. They were very innovative working around the established trees. They cleaned up and removed the debris. Pretty darn amazing work in the Feb cold.
I have received many compliments on the fence and, most importantly, the dogs are safe.
The work included digging new post holes (new fence had 6' sections; the old fence had 8' sections) and setting the new posts in concrete. The old holes were filled as the new ones were dug. The workers were very good to clean up at the end of each day's work. I allowed them to store materials on my property and they kept it neatly arranged. It was a difficult installation because the ground was hard, mostly shale, and dry. The ground was also not level. They did an excellent job of aligning the fence, spending about as much time aligning the fence as they did installing it. They went so far as to dig a shallow trench through a raised area, to make the fence curve smoothly rather than have an abrupt angle. The also made other subtle adjustment so that all of the fence sections were whole sections. The fence has arrow point tops, and a 1/4' misalignment in either height or alignment is very noticeable. I see no such variations.
I have received numerous compliments on the appearance of the new fence.
Marty and his team at AmeriPride were fast, professional, fairly-priced and very easy to work with. Every call I made was returned within the hour. I will gladly refer them to everyone I know and would use them again in a heartbeat should the need arise. Thanks AmeriPride!!
