I'm first going to say that I am very, very happy with the finished product. The road to get there however was a little bumpy. I had gone into my local Home Depot store in West Norriton, PA and spoke with Al, the door and window rep. I had felt with him in the past and he had coached me through installing pre-hng doors on my own, awesome guy. He had walked through all my options for windows and set me up with an appointment for in home estimate for windows. Rick from my local Home Services out of New Jersey came out and walked me through everything and worked out estimates for the two styles I liked. He left me with a hard copy and an e-mail copy of the estimates and his card for when i was ready. When I was set for the install, he came back next day and as with prior contacts he was very nice, friendly, professional and thorough. My next contact was with the Corporate Center in I believe Atlanta, GA. I was then set for the install. The installer came out nearly two hours late, and with an attitude as he had somewhere else to be. I had a few questions about insulation between the windows he said bluntly, don't use it. I also asked about the trim molding, again he says don't use it. Well I was confused because this contradicted Rick when he did the in home estimate. I then asked him if he wanted a cup of coffee or anything and he replied, No, if I need anything I'll let you know. I knew at this point that I should just stay out of his way. He installed seven windows and capped all of them in under six hours. And it showed. He had capped over old flashing, leaving large gaps and waves and filled everything with caulk. Face nailed everywhere leaving a ugly finish, caulked everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE. I had a box bay type window off my kitchen that he flashed over literally lifting the shingles off the bay window. So I had called to have it looked at. Rick came back out and agreed that is was a bad job and they would do what it takes to get it done right. So the original installer finally came out and when I told him everything, boy did he start with the attitude. saying things like I'm too picky, I decided to wait a week to drive around and look at other jobs to call and b****, everybody else has gaps why are you special. So told him I don't care what he thinks just get it done. So he tells me he needs to come bcd another day and he'll call. I come home after work to find he had showed up and butchered the job even further. Capped over the last bad capping leaving now three and four layers of aluminum, sharp pieces of scrap on my deck and lawn globs of caulk on the deck. I then call to file an official complaint. I then met Brain who is the supervisor and he was terrific. He assured me it was wrong, found things I didn't see and it was found that the windows were to insulated and by not doing so violets the manufacturers requirements. He had sent out another crew of three and Brian worked relentlessly to get a crew out stat. The team that came down were so great. They kept me involved, asked questions as to how I wanted it and how the HOA needs it, my preferences etc. They were here for 9 1/2 hours and I could be happier with the finished product. I got quality windows, and a fair price, no worry lifetime warranty, fantastic customer service from my local store contact to respect and validity from everyone i was in contact with- except the first installer who I believe won't be working with The Depot again. I hired The Home Depot to be protected from contractors telling me to deal with it and it was worth it. 100% confidence.
