About us

Ramer Mechanical's mission is to provide the highest quality installations and service. We believe that the mechanical systems in your home or business should not only function properly, they should also keep the occupants comfortable and they should look good! We use premium products and equipment in our installations in an effort to provide our customers with greater value over the life of the system. We cover the entire spectrum of HVAC installations and service, with a particular focus on Ductless Minisplit Heat Pumps and Hydronic systems ( Boilers, Radiant floor heating, Radiators, Hot Water baseboard ). Each HVAC installation starts with accessing the customer's needs and comfort concerns, followed by a building heat load analysis. We use ACCA approved software to do our heat load and analysis and properly size the heating and cooling equipment. This is very important for the longevity and efficiency of the system. It also a critical step to provide comfort for the building's occupant's. Comfort is far more complex than simply heating or cooling a space! Selecting the proper equipment and sizing it correctly is essential to this goal. We also provide Electrical, Plumbing, and Refrigeration services for both residential and light commercial markets. Call us today and see if we can help you with your project! PA registration number. PA001348

We ordered a cooktop online. When it was delivered, we called Harvey to install it. He was responsive, personable, and professional, and we'll call him for our next installation.

Very punctual and responsible company. I would call again to business again. Took his time explaining what was wrong and explained in detail what was needed to fix it. Thank you, Mr. Ramer.

Called Harvey Ramer first thing in the morning, and he stopped by that day. Of course since it was intermittent, it wasn't doing it at that time. Through questions, he knew what was happening and changed the parts that were failing. He showed the parts, and explained exactly what was happening that was making the motor continue to run. Also, he found a capacitor that was weak and would eventually cause a problem in the future. Several years ago my air conditioner stopped working and I had no idea who to call for service. I looked at the reviews on Angie's List and found Ramer Mechanical and have been using his service ever since. I have called him any time I have had a problem or just yearly furnace service. He always arrives promptly and he is professional. He answers any questions we have and is very knowledgeable. You can rely on him to get the job done and he charges a reasonabler price for his service. Smartest move I made was going to Angie's List!

They are excellent. We have been using them for many years now, for all of our home systems. Heating , water heater, plumbing, whole house generators, and they have always done a great job with a fair price.

He does good work and responded in a timely manner. He gave me good quotes on materials, that beats some other local company. He completed the job in short time and the system works perfectly.

During the hottest days of the 2016 summer, the coil in our heat pump formed a leak due to the outer cage rubbing on the copper tubing. I called several companies, all who immediately saw $$ and just wanted to replace the whole system. This would have resulted in us being without air conditioning for several weeks. Then I called Harvey Ramer from Ramer Mechanical LLC, and he was willing to come out the next day. He was able to patch the coil, and within about 2 hours, our home was starting to cool off. We understood this was just a patch and we really did need a completely new system, but wanted to wait till the fall when temps were cooler. Harvey came back in the fall and provided a complete review of our home, including measuring square footage, looking at our insulation and windows, and doing a complete heat load check of our home to provide us the most accurate estimate for our new system. He spent about an hour and a half reviewing, testing and inputting data into his computer. After his review, we were provided with several options. Just FYI, I had another VERY well known large local company come out and provide a quote to replace our system as well. Their gentleman was here and gone in 15 minutes (not kidding). What a JOKE! I would never recommend them to anyone, even though I've used their services in the past, I will never use them again. Now, back to Harvey... We decided to go with the Daikin SkyAir Inverter Ducted unit which is a variable speed unit with very high efficiency compared to standard systems. This system runs at full 100% capacity down to 14 degrees, and is easily able to keep the home comfortable down to 0 degrees. He installed the whole system in 2 days by himself and did a fantastic job. Very professional in everything he does. With our old system, we supplemented our heat with a coal stove costing us an additional $750 to $1000 per heating season for 3-4 ton of coal. So far this year, I haven't even thought about starting our coal stove, and the system has had no problem keeping our home at 74-75 degrees, AND our electric bills are still lower than they were previously, even with the coal stove helping the old system. Then in December during a very cold near zero degree stretch, the outside drain line froze, which caused the safety switch to engage on the inside unit and our system did a safety shutdown. I sent Harvey a text message and he replied immediately. After providing him the symptoms, we figured out the issue and I had our heat back up and running in about 15 minutes. Awesome service. Thank you Harvey! I will recommend him to anyone.

Before ordering my new cooktop, I emailed Harvey the manuals for both my old cooktop and the new one, so that he could check out the specs and make sure the new one would fit into the same space in the island. He assured me it would so I ordered the new cooktop and we set an appointment based on expected arrival. When the cooktop was late being delivered, I called Harvey and he had no problem with the delay; he told me to just call when the cooktop arrived and if he was available that day he would come by to install it. It delivered late, so he came the next morning. The installation went quickly with no problems, except that the cooktop did not come with two latches that can be used to hold it more securely in place. Harvey said if I ordered the latches he could install them for me if I prefer, but that it's something I could easily do myself and he showed me where and how to install them. I appreciated that he didn't take advantage of an opportunity to make an extra service fee on a job that would have taken him five minutes. I was very happy with Harvey's responsiveness, flexibility, and professionalism.

We purchased a special price and that was the first mistake. He did  nothing on the first trip and wanted regular price for the second trip. Most people provide a 'free estimate' and ours cost us $66. He did know what he was doing but I would never use him again.
Response from Ramer Mechanical LLC
"I regret you had a bad experience with the service I provided. The deal you purchased is valid only for service and repair work. It does not include installations or materials. Your project was a new installation of an electrical circuit and GFCI receptacle to plug in a freezer. It involved fishing a wire through the wall and through the ceiling in the basement. If you feel you purchased the deal in error, I would suggest contacting Angies List directly for a refund of the $66. Since the deal is a form of advertisement, I don't actually receive the proceeds from the purchase. Wishing you the best."

We ended up not doing the work but they were alright. It had to do with the size of the gas line. One of the gas dryers was installed but the gas line I had wasn't big enough to do it so it would involve ripping up the ceiling and putting a larger gas line in. I basically paid $40 to the guy to come look at my house. He was a good guy. He knew what he was doing.

The experience was very positive.  I had a faucet that was leaking from the "neck."  I emailed on a Sunday evening and Harvey responded the same night.  He was at my house within days and, after taking the faucet apart, gave me the option of a repair or replace; however, he was unsure of how long the repair would last. I opted to replace, and he used his iPad to show me a wide range of options, pointing out which line was the most affordable.  When I chose, he called the local showroom and ran out to get it immediately.  He returned quickly and replaced the faucet, taking the time to clean up old caulk, etc.  I would definitely use this provider again.

It went great. He came out the next day to complete the work for a non-priority service. He had no issues replacing the toilet and even fixed some of my plumbing to make the water heater more efficient. He definitely knew his stuff when it came down to not only installing the water heater, but programming it at 130 degrees instead of the typical 120 degrees (due to a specific type of bacteria commonly found in our water around here). It took about an hour longer than expected to drain my old water heater due to all the sediment in it, but he still charged me the original price that he quoted me, so I was pretty thankful for that. So $350 for 4.5 hours worth of work I found was pretty good. Compared to the other quotes I got, he saved me close to $700 on the water heater alone and now I got a 12 year parts and labor warranty.

We had our oil furnace shut down on a Sunday afternoon, with single digit temperatures.  Harvey returned our call Sunday evening. and was at the house first thing Monday morning.  He cleaned and serviced the furnace, and diagnosed the problem as leaking oil supply lines..  Due to the age and condition of the existing tank and supply system, we had him install a new tank and do  all the plumbing work.  He was very thorough in his work and get us informed every step of the way.  He had us up and running on Tuesday.  We plan on using him again for other plumbing/electrical work we plan to have done.
