Tom and Ed O'Sullivan are very professional and does EXCELLENT work. A company you can trust. Needed a parts to get the pilot and fireplace going. Tom came back a few days later and did a great job. Took pictures of work in progress, emailed a detailed report after work was completed. I highly recommend Newtown Fireplace Shop!!!

Nothing special. They like other gas fireplace service folk are booked months in advance during the late fall/early winter. Understandable.

Evan came to measure the fireplace and worked with us on timing, since we had to get masonry work done as well. They also scheduled the electrician to install an outlet, prior to installing the insert. The installer arrived promptly, was very nice and protected all carpeted area. He worked all day and installed the insert alone. He interacted with the propane tank installer as well to ensure that everything was set up correctly. Everything went beautifully and by the end of the day we had a working gas insert.

Showed up on time. Was very friendly and professional. Cleaned jets and got unit up and running. He also checked 2 wood fireplaces.

Evan is great.  He knows his business, and he is very helpful.  In my first house, the install of the gas insert was done well even though there were some problems due to the construction of the house.  He gets an A+ for that.
In my current house, we have an unusual set up where the fireplace is.  Evan went above and beyond to try to get it to work without us having to do reconstruction to the walls near the fireplace.  He visited the house twice.  He's friendly and helpful and knows his business.  He was honest about the challenges and the solution.  In the end, we didn't do the job because money became tight, but otherwise would have.

The shop also gave us names of electricians to add an outlet for the fireplace. One man arrived to install the insert and and run a short gas line to the outside. Due to a scheduling error another man came three days later to run the outside gas line. Everyone was very professional, courteous and neat. We are very happy with our new gas fireplace.

They were very thorough and they knew exactly what they were doing. I was very pleased with them. They were out to the house several times. They are first grade and they knew exactly what they were doing. They were first to come and they cleaned up after themselves and did just a great job. The price was very competitive.

This company is absolutely horrible please beware! We met with the owner Evan Zlock in July 2011 to discuss how to repair a rotted sealer and heater stack for a wood stove because we had leaks. The owner guaranteed that a custom flashing insert would solve the leak problem. About 2 months later they finally got back to us and scheduled an install. The first tech who came out decided that the install was "too much pressure" and left our premises without letting us know. After going round and round with the company to schedule another install (since I had already paid $430 down payment for this "custom" piece) they came out and installed it 3 days later. The piece was visibly installed improperly and left gaps all around the base of our heater stack for rain water to enter, so our leak continued. The "custom" piece also just appeared to be 2 pieces of aluminum and a little bit of caulk. When we contacted the Fireshop to let them know we still had the leak and that the install didn't seem right they lied to us and said that we were told that the install might not solve the leak problem and that we agreed to go ahead anyway. We were blown away by this level of unprofessionalism and deception. After a couple days of not returning our calls they finally answered and refused to try and remedy the problem, instead they advised us they would be "sending a letter in the mail" but wouldn't tell us what it was about. We then demanded a refund at which point they could retrieve the useless flashing piece and they quickly agreed to this. I don't know what type of crooked business they are running but this company is very quick to backtrack on any contract or commitment they have with you. It appears to me that they may have some underlying legal problems. STAY AWAY. It is nearly 4 months later and we have to begin the process all over again. Unprofessional, crooked and downright bad business.

We were so happy with the friendly, courteous service and honesty and integrity. We knew nothing about gas fireplaces and Even was very helpful, even though he came out thinking we'd be buying a log set from him and found out we didn't need it.

I initially got Even's name from a different fireplace shop as a person who installed woodstoves. We wanted a woodstove but due to the unusual layout and chimney structure in our home, we were not sure which size would best fit our fireplace and heating needs. Even came to our house at no charge and helped us figure out which stoves would work best for us. Even though he sells stoves at his own shop, he did not push us toward the brands he sells and was very honest in telling us that other stoves might work better. He gave us the names of places to go shopping and told us he'd be happy to install the stove for us no matter where we bought it. Once we had one, he returned and installed it quickly and professionally. He and his helper explained the basics of how to use and maintain it, and were happy to help me via the phone when I later had questions. I only wish I could have bought the stove from him as well, but he did not sell the brand I ultimately decided on.
