Mike came out and explained everything thoroughly for me which was great. They came in less than a week later and it only took the day to get everything done plus a day or 2 of the air circulation. They were easy to contact and very professional. Hometown was about $400 less than a different company that gave me an estimate.
Response from Hometown Building Solutions Inc

Very well Had a number of estimates but choose Hometown because Michael Curran gave the most through inspection and best explanation along with a detailed, point for point written estimate. In addition Michael worked with my time table and that of the plumbing company that was to do HVAC work when asbestos was removed After work was finished Micheal provided me with a third party independent lab air quality test results that showed that no asbestos was to be found in air samples taken in my house.

Hometown Insulation was great ... they responded to my call promptly, came out same day for an estimate, and scheduled / completed the work the next week. They were professional, handled all permits, did exactly what was expected, and were clean and courteous. No mess to worry about afterwards, the final price was exactly as estimated, and their work was great. Highly recommended.

My experience with Mike from Hometown Insulation was great. He was was able to quote my property quickly, delivered a competitive quote, and provided the services laid out in his quote. His crew was able to finish the job a day ahead of schedule. My one nitpicky comment is that, after his crew finished the job, I didn't receive a phone call explaining why the job had been finished early. However, when I called him, he was very apologetic and explained right away the difference between what I expected and what had happened. On top of that, he immediately sent over the safe occupancy documents, assuring me that the room was asbestos-free and safe to use. This quibble wasn't a big deal to me and certainly wouldn't prevent me from using him again for asbestos removal.

It went really well.
Michael was professional even given the extenuating circumstances of my home being renovated and I was not as prompt as possible with my arrivals to our appointments.

During the recent inspection process for a home I had for sale, one of the inspectors said they "thought" the insulation on our plumbing was asbestos. I had never dealt with that before so I looked for someone on Angie's list and thank goodness for Mike Curran and Hometown Insulation. Mike came out quickly and assessed that yes it was indeed asbestos. He quickly got us a proposal for the work. He was the lower bid, but you would have thought I had hired Walt Disney himself. He explained the process, scheduled us perfectly to get it done while the client was out of the house and just in time for settlement. He handled all the air testing and kept us in the loop about other contractor's performance as well. (The insulation being removed was in a crawl space -so we didn't really see it first hand) Mike took photos to show us what it all looked like. Great job and if I ever need it again you can be sure Mike will be my first phone call.

The work provided by Hometown Insulation was as described during the estimate.  The owner Mike Curran was very responsive to questions and concerns about timing of work and cleanliness.  The workers took great care to properly seal their work areas and clean up after themselves such that no debris was noticed outside of their work area. The ability to describe the work performed, answer questions, and remain flexible with work dates made this process go smoothly.

Mike inspected our house for asbestos after a pre-sale inspection idenfied probable asbestos pipe insulation in the basement. There were a couple small areas of exposed pipe with deteriorating/friable asbestos-containing material. Hometown insulation completed the removal in a timely fashion. They were clean and thorough in the set-up and control of the work area, including sealing off the area with plastic and creating negative air pressure with an air blower and particulate filter to prevent asbestos fibers from escaping the work area. I work in the environmental remediation field and have some training with hazardous material cleanup. I was impressed with the professionalism and cleanliness of Hometown Insulation.
We had a relatively small window of time between purchasing the house and moving into it where we wanted to complete the removal. Hometown was responsive and helpful in meeting that schedule. In addition, we approached them about combining our removal work a small asbestos removal job at a friend's house on the same block. Because both jobs were small enough that they could be completed on the same day, Hometown was able to combine the two.  Their willingness and flexibility to combine the jobs into a single day saved both of us money on the removal.
Great work, professional, clean, communicative. Highly recommended.

The first time Michael came to the house, he looked at all of the areas we plan to remodel (3 bathrooms) and gave us his opinion on what materials could potentially contain asbestos.  He also volunteered to check out the basement as well.  In the basement, he identified old tiles and glue that could have asbestos, however we decided not to have them tested as we do not plan to disturb them at this point.  He also mentioned that there could be old asbestos insulation behind a vent we plan to move in the master bath, as well as possible asbestos containing tile under our current bathroom tile (the floor is raised, so it appears a new tile floor was put over the old one).  As we are now getting ready to demo that bathroom, we asked him to come back out to take samples.  When he opened the vent, he could see no insulation.  He broke up a bit of the tile as well, but only found a thicker concrete wet bed underneath, no old tile floor.  It was a relief to us!  Therefore, there were no samples taken.  Michael did all of this work free of charge.  I definitely plan to contact him again in the future if we have any other asbestos related concerns.

We were very pleased with the quality and the service which they provided. The price was very reasonable and was below all other quotes that were given. They showed up on time, were very respectful and did a clean and professional job. They do not take credit cards, but they were willing to wait until after the sale of the house for payment, which was a huge help. If you have any asbestos issues Hometown Insulation should be the first company you call.

We were in the middle of installing a hardwood floor and needed an almost immediate professional opinion on the flooring material used. Mike made an adjustment to his schedule and went out of his way not only to make sure he came to the property as soon as possible but to give his professional opinion - which now puts him in trusted advisor status in our book. For future needs I will be calling on Mike and his company.

I called Mike after I experienced a bit of a panic attack regarding the plaster in our home. I explained to him I knew plaster from the early 20th century was known to use horse/hog hair, but I also knew asbestos was also being used in some plaster during that time as well. He reassured me on the phone that asbestos was unlikely, however, he'd be happy to come to the house and take a look at no cost to us. The next day, he projected a time for his arrival, however, when he was delayed slightly, he sent me a text to inform me he would be a few minutes later than he originally anticipated (anticipated around 4PM, arrived around 4:10PM). He arrived on at the house with a tablet with pictures of asbestos as a reference and was happy to answer all of our questions. He looked at all of the types of plaster in the house and confidently dismissed the possibility of asbestos in the plaster. Additionally, although he offered his services to have samples tested, he did not pressure or fear-monger us into getting unnecessary sampling. He told us to think about, and let him know if we decided to move forward with testing. I highly recommend HomeTown for their responsiveness, receptiveness, helpfulness, and professionalism. I felt immediately confident and comfortable with his review and advise. Highly recommend them, and will definitely call them in the future if I need further work.

Mike was in the house the day after an estimate  was requested, and completed the job a few days later. He was thorough in his explanation of what needed to be done, how the job was progressing, and responded quickly to any questions I had.
His pricing was pretty on par with other people I spoke with.
I would use Mike again.

We are looking into purchasing a home "as-is" and needed a proper asbestos check from a specialist before committing.
Mike showed up on time, he was thorough and professional. Mike took his time in the basement and all the ducts in the building. Mike also looked at a patch of mold on the wall. After the inspection, he took the time to show my husband and myself pictures of friable asbestos so we know what to look for in the future.
He performed this check free of charge. Asbestos is serious business and if you have to make sure a property is free of friable asbestos, you can't put an inspection like that off whatever the cost. Mike could easily charge a couple hundred dollars just to LOOK with this specialty but he didn't and we appreciate that.
If we ever have need of an insulation/mold/lead specialist, Mike will be the first one we call.

We purchased our home with the anticipation of gutting and redoing everything. After some consulting, we found asbestos in our kitchen tile and powder room.  We received third party verification that asbestos was in our home.  My wife and I contacted Hometown Insulation.  Michael Curran met me at my home, we conducted a walk through, and within days, I received a quote.  I compared the quote vs. a competitor, and Michael came in more favorable, but honestly, I felt more comfortable and trusting of his services.  Michael's quote included third party air testing verification which is necessary.  Michael provided his services as promised with nothing extra.  Our job was competed in the time frame Michael explained and he is extremely responsive via phone, text, and email. I was completely satisfied with his services, and I'm thankful to have found him using this site.
