I was dispatched this company through my home warranty. I had lost power to my detached garage across the alley from the house 3 weeks ago. I set up a lockbox with keys. Almost a week goes by and I hear nothing. Then I get an email from the home warranty asking me to rate Omni's service. ???? I called Omni to ask if they were out to the house and were they able to fix it. The woman that answered the phone said "Oh yeah. No, we didn't fix it. The gas company cut your wire. You need to call the electric company to get it fixed." That doesn't make sense but I call the gas service and they said, no, we have not done any work in that area. West Penn Power said they responsible only to the meter. I called Omni and I was told there is an asphalt patch in the road between the house and the garage so someone must have cut my wire. The technician who went to the house was not available. I retrieve the lock box and find the key will lock the garage but not open it. I called Omni and spoke to Brian. He agreed this didn't make much sense. I said I don’t think anyone went into the house or garage. I was calling out another electrician and asked if he want me to share my findings? Yes. Gary the service manager called and starts YELLING at me. I told him to stop shouting and calm down. He says "Ma'am YOU HAVE NO POWER TO YOUR GARAGE!!"" Exactly!!! That's why I called!! He continues to shout at me that his company has told me this repeatedly. I said I know there's no power by why do you keep saying a utility cut the line? Did your technician look at the junction box in the garage? Did he go in the house and check the switch that turns the power off and on to the garage from the kitchen? Did he check the circuit breaker. Again in full bay he screams "HE CHECKED EVERYTHING!!! YOU HAVE NO POWER!!!" Then where did you get that someone cut the line in the road. "There is a patch in the asphalt in the road so someone was working there and cut your power." Yes, but that was the township back in the summer upgrading the sewer infrastructure. I just lost power 3 weeks ago to the house. Do you know for a fact there was utility work? "No, We assumed. And no one ever told you the gas company cut your power." Yes, you did, the lady who answered the phone told me that. "Oh, well ma'am. WE ARE JUST GOING TO HAVE TO PUNISH HER, AREN'T WE!!! Have a nice DAY!!"" And slams the phone down. I call back and talk to Brian. I tell him that this is unacceptable. I don't want to be yelled at, no one wants this and I don't think this is how he wants his customers treated. He agreed stating home warranty work is his main source of business. I told him more than once I don't disagree with him about a break under the road but I want to know that this is indeed the correct problem and not something else. My electrician came out and tested everything. I had power going all the way out to the conduit out of the house but sadly nothing after that. So yes, they are correct. But my electrician was able to eliminate the breaker, the internal wiring, the switch in the kitchen that allows you to turn power off and on, and the wiring leaving the house. BIG difference from a picture of a patch in the road that, BTW, isn't where the conduit carrying the power to the garage is located. I promised Brian I'd share the information and I did in an email. I keep getting emails back from Gary the YELLER in CAPITAL. LETTERS. WITH. PERIODS. BETWEEN. EACH. WORD. "THIS. DISCUSSION. IS. OVER. WE. ARE. NOT. INTERESTED. IN. YOU. OR. YOUR. PROPERTY. WE. KEEP. TELLING. YOU. YOU. HAVE. NO. POWER. TO. YOUR. GARAGE." My recommendation is to run, don't walk, as far away from these idiots as possible. They say they have 30 years experience. In what, I'm not sure, but it's not electrical work or customer service. I've attached their "diagnostic tool". A picture of the alley. Where the gas company never cut my electric.

Ron arrived on time and got right to work. He was personable, professional and efficient. Answered my questions and provided suggestions. Work was done on two rental houses I own. The cost was reasonable and fair compared to other estimates I had gotten.

I spoke to owner about getting 2 ceiling fans installed. He said first hour is 148.50 any hours after that 68.50 an hour. Their guy shows up at 3pm and started the job, he went extremely slow these were basic fans nothing complex. He stretched it out for two hours accepted two personal calls on his cell while on job. He proceeds to call his boss to find out what to charge me and says its 292.00. I said that's not what I was told so he phoned his boss who told me well you are an hour away from us. I said no I am in New Kensington your in Tarentum. I said you quoted me 217.00 for hours he than said well if that's what I said ok. The worker then told my husband there are always issues when it comes to pricing. I want to add the one fan was not balanced correctly. I would not use these guys ever again.

My home warranty service assigned Omni Electric. I forget the name of the rep, but he was very friendly (rather chatty, but in an enjoyable way :) ). He fixed the issue effortlessly, putting in a new circuit into the breaker board to be safe (and, thanks to the phenomenon that is "Pittsburgh construction," it fixed another seemingly unrelated ground-floor light that wasn't working). He also went above and beyond: while he was in the garage working on the circuit board, he fixed my (garage-accessible) mailbox's broken door. The only real issue was miscommunication around the home warranty deductible; in Omni's records, I was to pay it, when I'd already reached my deductible limit. However, that's easily rectified. The service itself was perfectly fine.

After having to take work off Omni Electric came to my house through my home warranty company and dismantled my old ceiling fan and installed a new one that I purchased. When the tech was done I noticed that the fan was wobbling and it is not suppose to do that. The tech told me that it would take at least two hours to level the fan and he did not have the time. Within twenty minutes of the tech leaving my house the lights got really bright and one light bulb popped and broke. I called Omni Electric and asked them to call me back which they did not. I had to get my home warranty company to contact them to come back out. They scheduled a three hour window and when they did not arrive I called the office and they said he was on the way but they could not give me a time limit. They seemed to threaten me that if I did not wait for them I would not be able to get on their schedule for at least a week or longer. I contracted the manufacturer of the ceiling fan and within ten minutes they walked me through the process of leveling the fan and I now have no wobbling at all! We have been running the fan 24/7 and the lights have been working great.

Unfortunately, we were provided with a proposal, which did not provide solutions to our electrical issues.  We discovered that much of the contracted work was not completed.
We were told that we did not need an upgrade to 200 amp service, and that we just needed a few more circuits.  Since we did not have the room for more circuits, a new 100 amp box would need to be installed.
Circuit box labeling was deceitful; wiring was not connected as labeled.
Electric issues got worse.  Since we were experiencing more flickering of lights throughout the house & could not run things at the same time without tripping circuit breakers, we had a representative from another electrical company advise us.  Omni Electric did not even address the main issues.
We called Omni Electric numerous times to speak to the owner.  Instead they directed our calls to Pit Bull Brian.  He was completely combative, belligerent, hostile and antagonistic from the start.  I told him I had pictures  of work not done & UNSAFE WIRING, and that we wanted the owner to come to our house to inspect Omni's work.  SEE PICTURE OF BARE/ STRIPPED WIRE (newly installed by Omni.)    He was increasingly RUDE!  We had no option, but to hire another electrician.  We REQUESTED A REFUND FROM OMNI.  We have not had any offer to resolve the loss of money that we paid Omni for unresolved (made worse by Omni) electrical issues.
BEWARE OF OMNI ELECTRIC--UNSCRUPULOUS WORK PERFORMED--NO CONCERN FOR SAFETY!
OMNI PROPOSAL READS--ALL WORK GUARANTEED 1 YEAR PARTS & LABOR.  NOT TRUE--NOT GOOD FOR 2 MONTHS!!!

The technician was supposed to look at a ceiling light in my kitchen because the coating on the wire was crumbling off and there was bare wiring showing.  The technician showed up late and the first thing he did was collect the $100.00 deductible for my home warranty company and then called his boss.  The technician didn't even get up on a ladder to look at the wiring.  His boss then called my home warranty company and they said it wouldn't be covered and that Omni Electric could do the work but they would have to tear a hole in my ceiling to replace the wiring.  So I pretty much paid my $100.00 deductible for nothing.  I then disputed the claim with the home warranty company and they said it shouldn't of been denied, so I have no idea what Omni Electric told my home warranty company to have the claim denied.  I ended up calling a local electrician that fixed the problem for $100.00 total.  The tech that responded didn't seem to know what he was doing and seemed to just show up to get the $100.00 deductible and leave.  On the plus side the tech seemed like a nice guy.

A qualified, certified home inspector analyzed the work done by Omni Electric, which was an upgrade to the old fuse box, to a circuit panel.  In his report, he cited two major issues: there was no inspection sticker, which might indicate it was never inspected and there were estimated five instances where breakers were improperly sized; twenty amp breakers were being utilized where fifteen amp breakers are required.  According to the inspector, this presents a safety concern, where the wire could heat up without tripping the breaker.
Upon receiving this information, I contacted the company and informed them of the potential problems.  Someone was supposed to call me back, as they were "in-and-out."  Nobody called.  I tried again the next day and left another message.  My call was returned and I was greeted with indifferent defensiveness.  The individual I was speaking with kept cutting me off and saying that the work was done six years ago and they would not warrant it.  He added that anyone could have come in and did it since then.  This is interesting, as I don't know of anyone that would purposely do something to cause a potential fire hazard or put people in jeopardy.  He did not want to hear anything I had to say about this and kept repeating that it was done a long time ago and "they" wouldn't have done that.
All I requested was for someone to look at it to determine if something was indeed wrong, as per the inspector's report.  He said I could schedule a service call, which I'd be paying for.  When I suggested that they should fix it, regardless of timeline or date-of-installation, if it was done incorrectly at installation, he became angry and difficult to speak with.  Ulimately, he hung up twice, with the last thing said, "We're done here."
I will never use or recommend this company again.  The obvious lack-of-concern for a client's safety, from work that was performed by them is appalling.  Beware!

PROVIDER WAS IN MY HOME 10 MINUTES AND CHARGED THIS OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT FOR HIS LABOR. HE DID NOT EVEN TAKE HIS COAT OFF. NOTE: I PROVIDED THE GFCI. WILL NOT THIS PROVIDER AGAIN.
Response from Omni Electric, Inc.

"I am sorry you feel that you were over-charged to repair your problem. Our minimum service call is $139.50 which includes one hour of labor at $64.50 and our standard trip charge of $75.00. We charge this price for every call no matter if it takes 5 or 55 minutes to fix your problem. Unfortunately, doing business in this day and age is expensive and you are not only paying for the technicians time but also covering expenses such as licensing, insurance, tools, vehicle costs, gasoline as well as the electricians experience to do the job correctly and not cause additional issues caused by improper installation. It is our goal to satisfy all our customers electrical needs. As such, we are willing to waive the truck charge on your next service call as a offer of good faith."

Work could have been accomplished in a shorter amount of time with less talking to the technician. Probably should have only been a 1 hour job instead of 2. Technician was good, but the office needs to do a better job of scheduling. They told me I'd see a technician early in the morning. I called around 11 and they said I'd see him before noon. Did not see him until well after lunch. Not a problem if they're running behind schedule, but a courtesy call would have been nice.

I called them the next day, April 18, 2013 and they stated that the technician could not find my house. Whenever I made the appointment I gave explicit instructions that the GPS must be entered for a different town. I asked why they did not call me and she said they did multiple times; she wrote the wrong telephone number down initially. Several years ago I used this company to install a heater in a bathroom and install a light fixture in the kitchen. Two technicians came. The one tech was putting the heater in upside down and the other tech could not figure out how to put the glass shades on the light. I had to keep running back and forth between dumb and dumber. I thought I would give them another chance because they probably have many techs and their location is close. It appears that those that answer the phone to make appointments are not very attentive to details that are important. I should have checked Angies List first!

There was a major confusion and they were new to the warranty company, they wanted to charge me more than the deductible and they had to get it all sorted out. As it turned out they weren't able to do everything they were supposed to do because it was an old panel and they said they couldn't get replacement parts and the warranty company refused to do anything about it. I think it was a miscommunication and an issue with the warranty company. The electricians followed up okay, I talked to one of the guys in the office and I don't know if they were feeding me a line about the warranty company or not.

Arrived on time , did work as mentioned in contract and finished on time. had to return to fix a problem and they were prompt and resolved the issue without and additional cost. I called over 5 Electrical companies to get bids on the same job. Omni was not the cheapest but my gut feeling was that this was the right company to use. I used another company that I thought I was doing well with until I used Omni. Brian was on time ready to go and understood exactly what I wanted. I got called out of town and I was worried things would not get done as I like them to - historically this is how contractors have worked for me. Not Omni - I will use them time and time again on the houses we buy. Great job guys!

THE OWNER SPOKE TO ME HIMSELF, HE TOLD ME THE HOURLY RATE WAS $35 AN HOUR. HE DIDN'T TELL ME THAT HE WAS SENDING 2 PEOPLE, HE DIDN'T TELL ME THERE WAS TRAVEL TIME, AND HE DIDN'T TELL ME THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR THESE GUYS WHILE THEY GO ON LUNCH BREAK OR IF THEY LEAVE FOR MATERIALS. THEIR PRICES WERE VERY UNREASONABLE AND THEY TOOK OUR WORKING TRANSFORMER WITH THEM WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION. THEY TOOK OUR GFI OUTLET COVERS WITH THEM AS WELL. I INFORMED THE OWNER THAT I WANTED THESE THINGS RETURNED AND HE HAS NOT RETURNED THEM. HE HAS BEEN RUDE ON THE PHONE AND HAS NOT BEEN VERY RESPONSIVE TO OUR COMPLAINTS. THE OUTSIDE LIGHT TRANSFORMER AND LIGHT SENSOR RETAILS FOR $301,THEY CHARGED $545. THEY CHARGED EXCESSIVELY FOR ALL MATERIALS AND DID VERY POOR QUALITY OF WORK. THERE WERE ALSO OTHER HIDDEN COSTS IN THE BILL, SUCH AS A $33.50 TRUCK FEE, WHICH WAS NOT DISCLOSED UP FRONT. I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY AND WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM. NOTHING WORKS AS IT DID BEFORE.
Response from Omni Electric, Inc.

"Our labor rates were explained in full as 34.50 per hour per man along with a truck trip of 34.50. We did indeed send 2 men because of the scope of the work warranted it. Concerning the pricing for materials used. We buy and use commercial grade materials not low quality materials used at your local home center. Our customers do have the option of purchasing their own lighting and paying only for installation, but in this case materials would not be warrantied. I explained that all underground wiring to landscape lighting and 2 fixtures were damaged and non-functional. The members were not charged for our mens lunch or break time. We were never aware that the old parts were to remain on the job. We normally dispose of all scrap non-functioning parts as a courtesy to our customers. While we have a great deal of satisfied, loyal customers it is unfortunate that this customer feels so dissatisfied. Greg Riggatire"
