We hired Mr. Ortega to paint the downstairs interior walls, trim and doors including the front door. The house was built in 2000, with the contractor grade white paint still on the walls. Most of the prep work was done - everything was washed down, all pictures, nails, curtain hardware etc. removed from walls and furniture was removed from rooms (other than 2 couches).
I inspected the job after their 1st day. The walls were filled with hundreds of fuzzies (I counted them), runners and there was poor paint coverage. I spoke with Mr. Ortega the 2nd day about my concerns. He said he would fix it. When I came home the 2nd day, they were painting the front door. I pointed out that rust specks were bleeding through. I said that the paint should have been removed down to the bare metal. Mr. Ortega said that is what they did.
After they finished the entire job, I came home and inspected again. I called and made him aware that the paint STILL did not cover the walls and the front door was not acceptable. He agreed to come back and put on a second coat on some of the walls, but would not repaint the front door appropriately. I had to strip the paint off the front door and paint it myself.
My husband and I painted two upstairs bedrooms ourselves a few years ago. In comparison, our amateur work is so much better.
"Our daughters have both lived out of state for over 5 years and none of our children have ever worked for this company. This message has been posted in error."
Then I hired Robert to paint a rental property. It a large property. He did an OK job. He only put one coat f paint on the trim. We were going from blue trim to white trim. Needless to say, one coat did not cover well. They said they would take care of it. No problem, right??.. well, its still now corrected. And they started my private home.
Robert did a good job doing some plaster and wood repair. Robert is punctual and pleasant to have in your home.
I noticed a couple of things, like drips on the bamboo floors, a couple of drip on some slatted doors, wall color splattered on top of the banister and I figured no biggie, those s are things we can fix. Then as time went on and we were in our bedroom we noticed that there was only one coat of paint put on the walls. There was turquoise showing through the purple paint. It was everywhere. So, I sent an email to Roberts wife, Kat. She said they could not get here until August. She also said it was my fault for waiting for so long to tell them The following is the email that she sent me:
Sherrie,
Well, we will do our best to move you up however, we cant promise anything especially when you are unwilling to take a rain date, which at this point looks like we will have a lot of in the next month. You must assume partial responsibility for this would not be an issue if you have not signed off on the work, paid the deposit and then waited 32 days to let us know you are not happy.
Now, unfortunately we are in our busy season and we have had people waiting for up tp 4 months for us to do their work. Certainly you must have a schedule and a wait list for people in your business if your services are in demand. You wouldn't call and cancel someones appt to put someone else in their slot, especially if they scheduled in January. So Im sure you understand. Its just paint. Please don't get stressed out and worry over it. It will be fine and we will correct it. We only work 6 days a week so there is only so much we can fit in. That's why we need to stick to our schedule.
Please let me know if you change your mind about the rain date.
Have a nice evening,
I have hired someone else to come and finish the job. i do not want them back in the home.
Kat
