Terrible all around. The worst experience with a contractor in my life. Hired them to install a cedar shake roof on a 200-year-old home to Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau (CSSB) specs (they are members of this organization) they sent an inexperienced crew, in an unmarked van and none of whom spoke any English. Communicating with them was impossible. The sales Rep was rude; placed blame on my husband and me for picking the wrong type of roof. Really???!! The CSSB rep told me cedar is the perfect roof for this house. And installed properly I believe it would have been. Where there is only supposed to be two nails per shingle and it should be nailed into the lathing, the roof was riddled with nails from a nail gun. They were poking through everywhere and in most places missing the lathing completely. The copper flashing was left with prints and caulk all over it. It looked like a job I tried to do myself. Completely unacceptable work quality and customer service. Eisman did end up ripping the entire roof off and agreed to install an asphalt shingle roof which is much easier to install. So after almost a year on back and forth, an asphalt shingle roof is what we ended up with just to be done with this company. They reimbursed us the difference that we had paid for a cedar roof but only gave us the check when I finally drove to there office in Chalfont to get it. This company has a good reputation I believe from when the husband ran the company. His wife is now running it, and she was not interested in responding to any of my emails throughout the whole ordeal.

They were extremelly professional and they really knew what they were doing. They delivered high class work. The crew was here every day on time. They are remarkable to work with. They advertise they do not need to return since they do the job right the first time.

They were terrible. It was a community project. We asked them to come back and check the roof, they even charged us for coming to check. They refused to fix the roof.

They are very good people. They are expensive, but I think that I got good value for the price. I would use them again, despite the expense. I purchased the doors from them.

Overall the job did not go well. Eiseman installed the roof without adequate ventilation and as a consequence we have mold growing inside the attic.
The roof Eiseman installed was inspected by Blue Bell Consulting, a A.S.H.I. certified inspector. The report from Blue Bell details how Eiseman did not ventilate the roof. I also have another report from a different inspector that says Eiseman did not ventilate the roof.
The GAF Golden Pledge Warranty that I received states that the warranty does not apply to inadequate attic ventilation. Therefore, the GAF warranty is not enforceable.
Blue Bell also performed a mold test on the black material that formed inside the attic on the plywood installed by Eiseman. The mold report issued by Blue Bell states that this material is mold. Mold would not be growing in the attic if there was ventilation. That is the purpose of the ventilation.
Eiseman has refused to honor their 5 year installation warranty. I filed a claim in Small Claims Court. Eiseman did not respond to the claim so a judgement was issued in my favor. Eiseman appealed the judgement and the case was automatically moved up to the Court of Common Pleas.
I consulted an attorney and determined that the cost to adjudicate in the Court of Common Pleas was cost prohibited and the matter was not pursued.
Response from Eiseman Construction Co Inc
"1. Mr. [member name removed] alleges that the attic is not properly ventilated and, therefore, his GAF warranty is not enforceable. Upon Mr. [member name removed] request, GAF prepared a report. This report stated, "that the new plywood, as well as the original decking, has been cut to properly ventilate the attic via the DCI vent system". This report was prepared after Mr. [member name removed] expressed concerns about the ventilation and the status of his warranty. 2. Mr. [member name removed] alleges that Eiseman Construction Co., Inc. has refused to honor their five year installation warranty. This statement is misleading and inaccurate. Eiseman Construction filed a first action against Mr. [member name removed] as a result of his failure to pay the balance due under the contract. Mr. [member name removed] filed a counter claim alleging damage to his property including complaints about his gutters, lost wages, and the re-installation of smart vents. On the date scheduled for the hearing in small claims court, the parties entered into a Release and Settlement Agreement whereby Eiseman agreed to repair components not related to the roof installation including caulking around eves and rakes to close gaps on the building and to provide the GAF warranty, once Mr. [member name removed] paid his balance. GAF will not issue a warranty until the Contractor has been paid in full. Following completion of the repairs pursuant to the Settlement Agreement, Mr. [member name removed] failed and refused to make the payment required to cause the issuance of the GAF warranty. Eiseman was thereby forced to bring a separate action to enforce the Settlement Agreement between the parties. That action resulted in judgment in favor of Eiseman for the amount due under the agreement as well as attorney's fees and other damages. At that time, Mr. [member name removed]had a full and fair opportunity to have his entire case heard concerning the allegations about mold, lack of ventilation, and improper installation of the roof. Those allegations and claims were roundly rejected by the court and judgment was entered in favor of Eiseman on [member name removed] counterclaim. Undeterred, Mr. [member name removed] brought yet another action alleging the same causes of action including the allegations of improper ventilation. Since the matter had already been ruled upon the court, Eiseman chose not to incur additional counsel fees and refused to appear at a redundant hearing. Judgment was entered in Mr. [member name removed] favor and the matter was appealed, as is Eiseman's right under PA law, to the Court of Common Pleas. Mr. [member name removed] chose not to file a Complaint and pursue his claim and further. As such, the state of the record in this matter is that following a full and fair opportunity to be heard on all of his issues, Mr. [member name removed] has failed to convince a trier of fact that the roof has been installed incorrectly or that inadequate ventilation exists. He also has a valid warranty from GAF which guarantees he work."

Eiseman Roofing Company did an excellent job. I am very pleased with it. I will continue to use them. They were on time. Everything was done in one day. They cleaned up after themselves. The office staff is really good. Plus the owner of the company will call you up and ask how everything is going. I will use them again.

They were excellent, they were really great. The foremen came out to check on the job quite a bit. The people that did the roof covered the windows and everything and they came here at 8 and by 2 they were done.

When the job was finished, they went around the whole property and cleaned up the nails and everything. It was one guy and his helper that did the siding, and they were excellent.

One of the employees from the company called and asked how everything went. I even wrote a letter to them to say how great they were. I will use them again in the future and would recommend them to everybody.

Awful. After the skylights were installed we had a heavy rain. Water started to pour into our house from the one corner of the skylights, we never had our roof leak before Eiseman replaced the skylights. We tarped off the area around the skylights and the leak stopped. We had Eiseman come back to repair the leak and the denied that the replacement of the skylights caused the leak and charged us $1200 to repair the leak and the ceiling damage. They had to have caused the leak when replacing the skylights because the roof didn't leak before that and the area didn't leak when the tarp was on the roof over the skylights. We ended up hiring another roofer to fix Eiseman's mistake.

Excellent job all around; very high quality materials were used; the crews were well supervised and showed up on time and when they said they would be here. New roofing surface is beautiful and we receive many compliments on it. They completed the job in 3 days, working 10+ hour days in high heat. They also did an incredibly great job cleaning up nails and debris after the roof was completed, using special magnetic equipment to find nails. Eiseman Roofing is an extremely professional organization and we would recommend them to neighbors and friends.

They worked very hard. They were here the day they said. They were punctual and worked till dark every night. They were all nice. They didn't make any decisions until the foreman was present. He made all of the decisions. They consulted us on every instance.

It was a 3 week nightmare. The workers started much earlier than they were supposed to making the process of getting out of the house almost impossible. They continued working well after dark with no lights. (???) I watched with horror as one worker dropped a huge piece of plywood 3 stories up to my driveway below. It narrowly missed my window and bent my gutters (which never got fixed) The worst part was the sloppiness of the workers. I was finding roofing material, staples and nails all over my property 1 year after the work was completed. Not to mention the 3 flat tires from all the nails left on the driveway.

"FIRST, WE WERE NOT HIRED DIRECTLY BY THE MEMBER. WE WERE HIRED BY HER ASSOCATION. THIS WAS A ROOF REPLACEMENT PROJECT FOR (9) BUILDINGS IN HER DEVELOPMENT. PRIOR TO OUR STARTING THE WORK MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION HAD TRIED TO STOP THE ASSOCIATION FROM HAVING THE ROOF WORK DONE DUE TO THE ASSESSMENT THEY WOULD BE CHARGED. BASED ON THE CRITICISM OF THE MEMBER, WE ARE ASSUMING SHE WAS ONE OF THE HOMEOWNERS WHO TRIED TO STOP THE ROOF WORK FROM BEING DONE. NO COMPLAINTS HAVE EVER BEEN FILED AGAINST EISEMAN CONSTRUCTION BY THE MEMBER'S HOMEOWNERS' ASSOCIATION. TO OUR RECOLLECTION ,SHE CONTACTED US AS THE PROJECT WAS GOING ON REGARDING HER CONCERNS. WE CONTACTED THE MEMBER ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO MEET WITH HER AND EACH TIME SHE WAS EITHER NOT THERE OR NOT AVAILABLE. EISEMAN CONSTRUCTION HAS PRIDED ITSELF WITH OVER 40 YEARS OF EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE. WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED FULL ROOFING AND SIDING OPERATIONS IN OVER 50 HOMEOWNER ASSOCIATION COMMUNITIES AS WELL AS A THRIVING HOME REMODELING BUSINESS AND HAVE SATISFACTORILY ANSWERED ALL INQUIRIES MADE BY THE MEMBER TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. WE REQUESTED INVOICES AND PICTURES OF TIRE DAMAGE AND THEY WERE NEVER FORWARDED."
