He arrived on time, spread his drop cloths, and cleaned the fireplace and chimney with a special vacuum and brushes. As far as I can tell he did a fine job with that. (I really have no way to tell, except to say that we have had fires in the fireplace and the house hasn't burned down.) The problem was that somehow he got a stain on part of the carpet that he hadn't covered. All his equipment was very dirty, so all it had to do was touch the carpet with and it could have left a mark. I pointed this out to him after he was finished, but he denied that he caused the stain. I explained to him that it was a brand new carpet and that we hadn't moved into the house yet, so it had to be him. He continued to assert that it couldn't have been him and left quickly. I haven't been able to get the stain out myself and will probably have to call a professional.
