The dad Scanlon came and left the place filthy every time. We had him do many projects at our house on different occasions. The few he left a total mess for us to clean up. The next one he installed a laundry sink in the basement that flooded the basement a week later and we had to fix it ourselves. The next one (yes, we used him again because we were desperate) he installed a garbage disposal and he left the old, rusted and disgusting one on our front step, didn’t mention it or leave a note, just left it there. I also have heard and experienced that he is a gossip and shares personal information about people from one client to the next. I don’t know a stronger word than unprofessional, but we will not be using him again.

I was recommended by a friend to call the owners son (Matt). He came to the store and said that he would be back in a couple days to replace the grease trap. Now its over a month later, and I am still waiting. I must have called about 7-8 times, usually leaving a message with no response, and when I do get Matt on the phone I always get the same answer....the part will arrive by tomorrow, and we will call you to install it. I called for the last time about a week ago, and as usual no one bothered to call me back. There is something seriously wrong and dysfunctional with Scanlon plumbing. I'm not sure if its the company or just Matt that's the incompetent one, but please DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THEM!

Very responsive and accommodating to schedule the jobs. Both were completed quickly and issues completely resolved. It's nice to have a friendly, trustworthy, and reliable neighborhood plumber, I will definitely use again for any future issues.

On Wednesday morning my wife noticed that our sump pump was running continuously. We assumed that the problem was a switch on the pump and that we could get a replacement switch. I examined the pump and took apart the switch mechanism to attempt repair or replacement. The mechanism was integrated into the pump unit rather than being a replaceable part. Since it was raining heavily that day, we needed a replacement to avoid a flooded basement. I briefly shopped to find a replacement sump pump (Sears, Lowe's and Home Depot). Cost $100 - $200 plus piping, valves and other miscellaneous. I decided not to attempt the replacement myself. The next morning, I called Mark Scanlon and his wife/scheduler/business manager answered the phone. I told her the problem and she asked me if it was an emergency. I said it was not. She added me to Mark's service list. Within one hour Mark called to discuss the situation. He asked what it was and asked if the basement was flooded. I told him it was not. He said he would be over. Within one-half our Mark arrived. He left to get parts and returned approximately one half hour later. Within another hour the sump pump, piping and check valve had been replaced and were working.
Total charge including tax was approximately $350. I had anticipated $500.
Mark Scanlon is polite, personable, responsible and responsive. This has proved consistent over the 30 years we have lived in our house. I don't think I would use another plumber unless Mark told me he could not do some job.

Mark is a great neighborhood plumber. He's knowledgeable, friendly, and skilled. A great asset to the community and a nice guy. He seems to basically work by himself, so his schedule is often full, but if he can help you out, he surely will.

He is friendly, showed up on time, did the work, and left the place clean. He is reliable and reasonably priced.

Overall the experience was fantastic. The heat in my bathroom baseboard heater was not working, I called Mark and he came out within a couple hours. He helped bleed the baseboards in the bathroom and adjoining rooms. The following day our bathroom was giving us problems again, I called and they came out promptly and bled the baseboards again and showed us how to do it. The best part was the second time was on the house. I really appreciate their quick service and will not hesitate to call for any of our future plumbing needs.

It was very difficult to get him over the phone. We had to leave multiple messages. He came out twice and just gave us the estimate as how much it would cost. Each time he said he needs to do some tests and he will get back but he never responded after that. He didn’t complete the work too.
