I bumped into Paul Briggs in Lowe's parking lot on a Sunday afternoon and asked him to provide a proposal for something I didn't have time to do myself. I didn't know Paul, but thought I'd ask based on the professional appearance of Paul and his neatly arranged work truck (usually a good sign). Paul provided a written proposal for the work based on a detailed written description and several color photos of hte work site I provided. Paul's written proposal included the scope of work shown below.
Paul showed up at the agreed time with two workers and he supervised much of the work and occasionally conducted other business on his cell phone and from his truck. The project went very well since they brought all the necessary tools and materials to complete the project, which took two men several hours. I was there for most of their work while I worked on other things in the house, which I was preparing for sale. I had to leave for an hour or so to buy materials and was not concerned about leaving them alone. When finished, they cleaned up and hauled away all the debris, leaving the work area as clean as they found it. I paid Paul when they finished.
I usually do remolding projects, including electrical work myself because I find that I do better work than most contractors I've seen, and I've always felt their costs are too high. However, I am happy to say that I couldn't find anything that I would have done differently or better, I feel like I got my money's worth, and I wouldn't hesitate using Briggs Electric in the future. I have already recommended them to several friends.
150-amp service upgrade:
- Notify Duquesne Light of service upgrades and obtain work request number.
- Disconnect the service drop connections at the house.
- Remove and dispose of all old service equipment, wire, fittings, and fasteners.
- Install all new 150-amp rated service entrance cable, meter socket, main breaker panel, fittings, and
fasteners. All to be located in the similar vicinity as the old.
- Install new breakers for all existing circuits.
- Install (2) new exterior ground rods and bonding jumper.
- Install new water meter grounding and bonding.
- Reconnect the service drop connections at the house.
- Test all breakers.
- Label as many circuits that can feasibly be traced.
- File and pay for 3rd party 150-amp service electrical inspection.
- 3rd party electrical inspection

The service worked out very well. They were very confident, efficient and they took care of the problem. The price was very fair.

Paul was referred to us by the owner of Pool and Spa Outlet. This turned out to be a great referral. Paul came to the house within a few days of our call. He took his time in reviewing the drawings and talking to us to get a clear understanding of the scope. We received his proposal approximately 5 days later. His price was close to our other bidder but he had a detailed proposal and I was very comfortable that everything was included in his price.
Paul's professionalism is top notch. He showed up exactly at the time he said he would to begin the work along with his 2 helpers. You could tell he was prepared and had the rough in work done that first day.
Because we were acting as the general contractor, there was a lot of coordination with the other contractors. Paul was very flexible and accomodating. As per our plan, he showed up the day the cabinets were delivered so he could coordinate with our designer and cabinet installers.
His work is top quality, he and his helpers are professional and go about their business and are very easy to deal with.
I highly recommend Paul and will use him for all of my future electrical work.

Paul fit us into his busy schedule on the same day we called. He called before he arrived, and was prompt and professional. He did quality work and explained everything he did. Very nice guy. We would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone and we would not hesitate to call him again.

The work was so good that I've contacted him to do some more work. It was really good. It was a great price for what he did and the quality of the work. We had 2 or 3 people come out to take a look at it. One was a lot less expensive but I didn't like the way they wanted to run the power lines. Their price was excellent and their timeliness was really good. They didn't take a lot of time. For the amount of work they did, they were excellent. He was really good at what he did. I am going to use them again.

Paul located a short in a basement electrical circuit. He was very responsive and resolved the problem quickly. Although the problem was note very complicated, he handled it in a very professional and polite manner. I will definitely call him again if I have another electrical problem.

Paul responded immediately, was on site within an hour and performed a thorough inspection of my electrical system. Repaired some minor issues, answered all of my questions and gave my system a clean bill of health.

I could not have been happier with the response time as well as the service. They returned my message quickly, stated when they would be here, arrived on time, were well spoken, communicated well, corrected the problem and cleaned up afterwards.
I decided to use Briggs for this situation at our commercial building because I had used them for a project in my home and was more than satisfied with the service.
It is extremely stressful when a large portion of your professional office is unable to operate, and thankfully we used the right company for the job.

The owner, Paul Briggs, arrived when stated to give a written estimate. He was thorough, asked questions, and even discussed how the different lights would emit different angles of light. After receiving his estimate, and 1 other estimate, it was obvious that he was more affordable, more thorough, knowledgeable and more professional.
He showed up for the installation/work as scheduled. When he was finished, he walked me through the work that he had done and asked if I had any questions. Briggs Electric was the first electrician I have ever experienced who cleaned up after themselves and put everything back to exactly how it was before they arrived.

Briggs did a fantastic job. They were extremely prompt and professional. There were three guys here and I would say they each worked ten hour days, they did a great job. Their price was average but very fair for the service that I got.
