About us

Realty Inspection Services, Inc., is an independent home inspection company that has been in business since 1989. Our owner, Bill Wright, has over 40 years of experience and a degree in Building Construction Technology. Our evaluations include structural, mechanical and environmental inspections for residential, multi-family, condominium, commercial and industrial properties. We are experienced in the evaluation of environmental concerns. We have worked closely with several local environmental corporations assisting them in areas such as, radon detection; lead in water, soils and building materials; evaluation of petroleum hydrocarbons in soils; and many more. We have served as professional experts for two Northeastern Pennsylvania television channels and have been featured on the front page of the Scranton Times (weekly circulation 31,000+.) We have discovered and disclosed to the public environmental dangers brought on by blasting in a nearby community. This disclosure, aired by northeastern Pennsylvania television channels 22 & 28, revealed the previously unkown environmental risks of radon to the residents of the Swinnick Development. The firm did a good job. Bill was an excellent inspector. I walked through with Bill for most of the inspection. He explained in detail and questions or concerns I had. The inspection report format and content was excellent. Lauren in the office did a great job setting up the inspection and coordinating with the inspector. She also sent me the final report, The inspection showed good marks and we are purchasing the vacation home.

The inspector was very nice and at first seemed to do a good job, however, after moving into the house I discovered that the chimney mortar was crumbling and many of the bricks around the chimney were loose. The chimney crown was non-existent. These problems were not addressed in the inspection reoport. This is going to cost me a big expense to fix--more than I planned. I received the report in approximately three days which was a plus

The inspection was quick and thorough. The inspector went through everything with me. He was on time and finished in the time promised. THe pick up of the radon monitor was more of a hassel. No one called the day before to come and get it and someone just showed up at my house two days later and I was not home. Then monday after a random man from realty showed up banging on the side door and scared my sister. He was rude and had no idea where to get the radon monitor. (duh the basement hello). Over all, except for the monitor confusion, their services at the time of the inpection was great.

The inspector was very knowledgeable and professional. The office staff coordinating this whole process was also very professional, knowledgeable and responsive. We had a very tight timeline within which to work and Realty Inspection Services was able to meet that deadline with time to spare! Would highly recommend!
