Esco Concrete had been contracted through my pool builder to install concrete decking around my new in ground pool. The staff at Esco, both in the front office and during the initial estimate, were all pleasant to deal with and responsive to any questions or requests that I had made throughout the process. The only issues I had arose when the job actually began. The installation was completed as described but looks cheap. This is particularly evident around the inside cantilever edge of the pool. Even over a month after completion I still have concrete flaking off into the pool. The plastic stripping embedded into the concrete is crooked in parts and protrudes out of the concrete in others. The application of concrete around the edge is uneven with bits of the gravel base being visible in parts. Upon completion of the job the team rinsed their tools off in my pool (ignoring the nearby hose they were welcome to use) and swept a couple of pounds of concrete dust and debris back into the pool. I did address this issue with Esco and, to their credit, they apologized and said they would address the issue with the work crew but said that this was the cost of doing concrete. Given that Esco was recommended by my pool builder and was the most expensive part of this project, next to the pool itself, I had higher expectations then what was seen in the finished product. While I'm not opposed to using Esco again I will definitely be doing my due diligence next time and reaching out to a couple of other companies first.

It was beautiful, a beautiful job. They were a great company, I can't believe the conditions that they worked in because it was so cold and it was ice and snow outside. They managed to do a good job. It was fascinating to watch how they did that. It was overall a really nice experience. The owner Renee is very detailed oriented and is a very good listener as far as what you are looking for and will also give you multiple options as far as pricing so you can stay within a budget. Over just a very nice experience. I'm actually having him come back to do a walkway for me by next month.

Rene was recommended to us by my sister who used Esco to do all the concrete work around her pool and a retaining wall. (He was recommended to her by the pool company.) Her pool looks gorgeous so when we were ready, I called him.
I can't say enough positive things about Rene and his crew. When he realized that Paul (his salesperson/estimator) had made an $700 error in our favor on the estimate, he was not going to change the price and was going to abide by his original estimate. We ended up splitting the amount, which I thought was fair, and had offered to do.
After Paul gave us the estimate (he came out twice and was on time and very nice) we went to Rene's outdoor "showroom" and picked out the stone for the wall and also the stamped concrete color and pattern. They gave us the estimate within two days and answered all of our questions by phone and email.
They showed up when they said they would and the whole crew worked very hard. They did a good job cleaning up each day they were here. The dumpster was removed promptly. My husband and I were a bit taken aback by the jack hammering of the original (and horrible) concrete slab, which did shake the house a bit, but Rene was very patient with us. He explained how all the water was going to drain, etc...
Our patio has been transformed and the wall looks so much better we can not believe the difference. We've had lots of rain and no drainage problems at all. Stamped concrete is so much better than flagstone or bricks--no weeds! It really is gorgeous.
Rene also, at no charge, had his guys fill in sink hole we had on our hill with stones he brought for us. It was a very deep hole!
A great experience start to finish.

Overall the experience was excellent. Renee and his crew did a great job. They completed the job in a timely and professional manner. Renee was so easy to work with from every aspect and runs a very professional company. They were flexible, as we made some last minute changes and his prices are very competitive. Renee offered us good advice regarding color, and style and I absolutely would use him again, and I have already referred him to others. The finished product looks awesome and we are very pleased.

Excellent. The overall project sequenced "smooth as silk". This is a stark contrast with a very bad experience we had with a large pool contractor, Blue Haven Pools, 11 years prior. With Rene's input and support , I was my own general contractor and was able to contract directly with the contractors responsible for the specific tasks of the job. This resulted in significant cost savings to the overall project and more importantly I was able to maintain accountability of performance from each contractor.

After he was done, the coping wasn't really fixed (his response was that it was at least better than it had been); he said it was the best that could be done. He came out and did a quick fix but it only lasted about week. I didn?t feel like hassling with it, so I paid him. Within a short period of time a good-size chunk of the back part of concrete broke off and started chipping around the anchor. The gap in the seam between the new and old concrete was large. It finally started to sink. He also dumped the leftover concrete waste on my property. When I talked to Rene about it, he said he didn?t think he could make me happy. The company who came out to fix the work said it was substandard concrete; they replaced two sections for $1000 and had to remove all of Rene's work. The coping and coupler looked as good as it did when the pool was first build; the anchor and seams were perfect. Rene had given me the impression that it couldn't be done any better than his shoddy work but this company did a perfect job.
Response from ESCO CONCRETE INC
"As you see in the pictures, Picture A is what was a crack in the concrete. Which you see in Picture B the concrete was fixed. Also in Picture C the pool deck was powerwashed if you take notice in all the pictures you can see the difference. I also fixed a piece of broken concrete of the porch and a apron in the garage at no charge. And was also noted we left all the leftover concrete on the homeowners property. Which was cleaned up and put in the dumpster. If possible I would like to request to see pictures of the leftover concrete on the homeowners property."
