+ -1 moreIf I could give less than one star I would. Avoid Hunt Door Company. The owner says he is "so good at what he does that he can charge whatever he wants." During a service call to my elderly parents (when they were not home), he flat out refused to contact the warranty company prior to any work being done (as required warranty company terms), despite the fact that he previously agreed to do so in writing. Afterwards, he claimed he " is too busy to make phone calls and he hates warranty companies." He "tells all his customers not to deal with warranty companies." As a result, the warranty company denied the claim. That same day, when questioned about his $250+ labor charge for less than 20 minutes of work to replace a $50 sensor, he threatened and said if they don't pay, he's taking them to the magistrate...and that he will win! He's threatening to take his 91-year old customers to court (24-hrs after service!) because he failed to do what he was supposed to do. They offered to pay him a reasonable amount for his time and expense, but he will not speak with them. He also says that he doesn't care about reviews. He's so good, bad reviews won't impact his business. Let's prove him wrong!

+ -1 moreAn all around good experience. They were easy to get in touch with over the phone. Denise was great to deal with. This wasn't an urgent matter, so I did not need immediate service. The repairmen showed up as promised, on the second business day after my initial call. They not only replaced the main spring, but also frayed cables and other parts that were worn. They showed me what they had done and left a clean garage. Very professional. I'm not sure how to judge the price charged. They are the only place I called, based on a prior positive experience. I feel I got a fair price. I'll definitely do business with them in the future.

+ -1 moreMy car was stuck in the garage because the spring broke on my 2 car garage door. Despite the fact that they appeared to be really busy on the 3rd of July they wanted to fix the door before the long 4th of July weekend to avoid the inconvenience for me. The technician came out at about 4PM and fixed the door by about 5PM. I was initially asked some very good questions about the door and the entire situation when I first called so they were very prepared to do the repair when the technician arrived. They did not try to sell me anything I did not need, which is what I had heard others try to do. I believe the price was fair, especially given the fast service.

+ -1 moreWhen I called Hunt Door and told them what I needed, it was suggested I just install a new opener instead of just repairing it given the age of the present opener -- 19 years. That was actually what I was thinking of doing and they just confirmed my decision. Within a few days, the new opener was installed. The owner is such a nice person and is one that can talk and still get his work done. Everything was cleaned up afterward and the system works great. I've used Hunt Door years ago before I was on Angie's List. I was happy to see they were on Angie's List with such a high rating. I highly recommend Hunt Door and will use their services in the future.

The installer was able to work with what he had (i.e. no outlets in the garage) and even went as far as asking if I wanted an additional outlet, at a cost. It was very nice of him to ask, even though it hadn't been previously requested. We could not be happier with the service we received and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

+ -1 moreI even got some good advice on track and gear maintenance. All of this was done for the reasonable price quoted just for the spring & cable replacements, 30 yrs of experience & a no-nonsense honest approach to business.
Description of Work: Double car garage door (metal w/vinyl skin panels) had a broken torsion spring (single). When it broke it ripped up one of the side cables and unraveled the over. I called a few local places asking for a 'general idea' of the repair costs. They all wanted to send someone to give me a detailed estimate. Once I signed the agreement they would schedule an appointment, etc. About the 4th call I finally interrupted the sales pitch and asked what the price would be for a pair of cables and a torsion spring. The torsion spring would be $59-$129, depending on size and the cables would be $49 each. I asked if that was an installed price and she replied 'No; that was just the material price." I never priced a torsion spring, but I do know Home Depot had the standard 8ft. looped steel garage cable for under $10.. I signed up for Angie's list, found the local garage door repair co. with the most favorable reviews and called. When I asked the same quote question, I got a "Sure, what do you have?" Once I got to the double door with a single spring, she interrupted me saying "we would convert that to a double spring." That's exactly what I wanted to hear, I figured the home builder had put it together himself from a kit. He came out the next morning (called ahead) and did a fantastic job. They rebuilt the entire assembly, dual springs, new single piece bar, new cables & pulleys with associated brackets and hardware. He adjusted and oiled the entire mechanism, including the motor gears. The usual clanking was replaced with the smooth sound of the motor hum and rollers turning.

Description of Work: Hunt Door Company provided services previously several years ago (in 1996). We had the master spring replaced in Summer 2012 and they were prompt in responding to my service request. The service technician was professional and personable; the work performed professionally. The price was reasonable. I highly recommend the Hunt Door Company.

+ -1 moreThey were very, very responsive. The spring was broken for one week as a matter of fact, I called them, and they came the next day. The person was here for about an hour, and it worked fine. I thought they were pretty good. I didn’t compare their price with other places, but I suppose it was quite reasonable, and not really expensive. The quality of their work was excellent, they did a good job.
Description of Work: I used the Hunt Door Company to replace a broken spring on my garage door. It originally had only one spring which was broken. They have modified the system, and now they have put in two springs rather than one.

+ -1 moreWe called Hunt Door to have our garage door balanced. The technician came to our home, on time, and performed the needed adjustment(s). He then recalibrated the garage door opener (my husband had just installed a new one himself), checked everything to make sure that all was in good working order, and was on his way. We have used Hunt Door before, to replace a broken door spring. The technician was able to locate a replacement spring (not an easy feat, as we have a single garage door in an older home) and save us money wherever he could. We will not hesitate to use Hunt Door in the future. They WILL NOT come to your home and tell you everything that's wrong with your garage door and try to give you a glorified sales pitch. They WILL come to your home, perform the services professionally, and save you money. This guy really knows his stuff.

It was considered an emergency visit only because it was a Sunday. Our garage door wouldn’t shut. I think during the night a spring had broken and it popped off. They had to fix that so that we could shut our garage door. We called them on a Sunday because we recently had some people breaking into cars in people’s driveways in the area.

+ -1 moreI called to set up appointment to fix garage door wheel and cable which had come off of track and sheared through bolt on the wheel. Denise was very helpful and thorough with scheduling the appointment. She could have gotten the technician to my house the very next day, but I elected to wait a few days to better fit my schedule. On the day of my appointment, Denise called me when the technician was on his way. He arrived promptly and got right to work. Very courteous and took his time to explain to me what he was doing and what was needed. He found my door beginning to bow and showed me why (no reinforcement on top panel when opener was installed 15 yrs ago.). My options (pros and cons) were explained to me and I decided to have him put on reinforcement while he was there. No pressure, no great sales pitch..he just provided the facts. Work was completed in a professional and timely manner. I am very satisfied and will definitely use Hunt Doors again should I need garage or other door service. THANK YOU!!

+ -1 moreBob (installer) arrived exactly when he said he would. He wasn't counting on replacing the opener; it went bad a day or two before our appointment to have our garage door replaced. Fortunately, he had one on the truck, so he was able to install a new opener along with our new garage door. He completed the whole job in 4 - 5 hours.
Description of Work: Replaced an old garage door and opener with a new, insulated garage door and our old, noisy opener with a quieter opener.

Description of Work: Called on 8/28/08 for garage door repair. They came on 8/29/08 and repaired door - 2 springs, cables, 1 roller (I already had two rollers), 3 hinges and lube.
