They worked diligently and efficiently, even doing more than my wife and I expected. After leaving, the supervisor,Tina, called to follow up to make sure I was completely satisfied. We scheduled the next appointment and I'm excited to have them back at my home.
I employed Mrs. Clean for a year as my housecleaners. The company initially was recommended by my neighbors, and Donna ran a good company when she owned it. Once she sold the company, though, the quality began to sag.
Mrs. Clean came every two weeks for service (team of two, who spent 2.5 hours) between September 2013 and September 2014. After they would leave, the house always smelled nice, but a careful inspection showed that the scent was covering the fact that the house was not deeply cleaned. The cleaning became more and more superficial as the course of the service went on. What was cleaned stayed clean for a couple of days, and then got dirty very quickly.
In fact, while interviewing new housecleaners not even one day after Mrs. Clean provided service, one prospective new cleaner ran his finger along the window blinds and it came off dirty. The same thing happened on picture frames. It became clear that Mrs. Clean's cleaning that was done was not a high standard.
Once I started noticing the degraded quality of service and after a few bi-weekly services of poor quality to establish a pattern, I brought these deficiencies to the attention of Tina, who came to the house and agreed that the quality was insufficient. She offered to send a different team, wondering if the prior team had become burned out and careless in what I imagine must be seen as a big job (a three-floor Victorian). I agreed to have a new team to see if the quality improved. It did not.
My parents were in town on a later occasion when Mrs. Clean's team came to my house. After the cleaning, it was clear that insufficient effort (if any) had been provided to at least one room on the second floor. We house a cat in this room, so there often is hair on the sofa. There remained dirt and dry cat food around the room and cat hair on the couch.
I immediately contacted Tina, who sent the team back with a decent amount of frustration and exhilaration in her voice. The team, to my mother's face (and to me by phone) claimed to have been down on their knees scrubbing and cleaning the floor. They also said that they did not have the tools to remove the cat hair from the couch and that I would need to provide them the equipment to do so (which seems like a basic housekeeping tool to me---no other cleaner has ever lacked such equipment). Nor did they, really, because they had cleaned it appropriately on prior occasions.
But the fact that dirt, dry cat food and cat hair remained where they claimed to have cleaned thoroughly spoke volumes. It is tough to dispute facts.
At that point, after several months of sub-quality service, I informed Tina that we would not need their service anymore. She offered to swap the cleaning team again, but this time I declined. The issue was not any particular team, but the standard of clean that they set for themselves.
Mrs. Clean was always very accommodating, timely and offered a fine price at $60/hr. Which makes the poor quality even more surprising, because there really was no temporal limit to the cleaning: they could have stayed until it was done properly!
Until the last episode where they outright lied to us about having cleaned a space that clearly had not been cleaned, everyone was always very friendly and pleasant. After that episode, my trust in their quality reached its breaking point. I just think their standard of clean is not in line with my own, which is a fundamental problem in the cleaning line. I wish no ill will to the company, but it does not seem unreasonable to expect a thoroughly-cleaned house when one pays for housecleaning.
The 2nd round, on the other hand, went horrible. 2 employees showed up. One of them complained that this wasn't how they thought their career would end up, which is awesome when their about to clean your house. They cleaned for about an hour and left. I called Mrs Clean and told her what happened and that nothing was really cleaned. I asked specifically to focus on dusting. No dusting was done, vacuumed the 1st floor, cleaned the kitchen and left.
When Mrs Clean showed up I was very impressed. She needs to find employees with a better attitude.
I was so embarrassed to be unready but she made me feel comfortable, was very professional and completed the job beautifully. Both myself and my former landlord were grateful! I would definitely recommend her services.
