If there's one bad thing that I can say about my experience with Darrell... it's that I don't have another property in Pittsburgh that he can sell for me. So as I mentioned in the previous section, this was not your run of the mill sale. I had only a week to prepare the house, and then I had to return back to California. Which meant that I won't be around to handle paperwork, make fixes, or any other steps that needed to be done in the process of selling a home. A week was definitely not enough to prepare the property, and lots were left undone. I found Darrell by pure luck. Being ill-prepared, I didn't research real estate agents on Angie's List before my trip, so I ended up calling the local real estate offices. Darrell was the one to answer my cold call at Howard Hanna. I explained my situation, and was impressed by his honest and frank assessment of the property and my situation; in my follow-up calls (and after he had me as a client), he was quick to answer or get back to me. He was very knowledgeable and professional, and I liked how he never pressured you into making a decision that you weren't ready for. Relying on my instincts, I signed up with him. And it turns out I hit the lottery. You know how sometimes you wonder if a real estate agent agent did enough work to justify the commission? That was DEFINITELY not the case with Darrell. In the weeks leading up to closing, he handled every single bump, from calling in workers to fix unforseen issues, to handling the removal of an old vehicle that I failed to dispose. He kept a close eye on the property as it was vacant, and he did all the leg work with the multitude of inspections and permits needed with the city -- his deep experience definitely helped there. Selling this property should have been a massive headache for me, but with Darrell, this was the easiest sale I have ever done.
Description of Work: Darrell listed my home in Monroeville in August. You can call it a fixer-upper... but that's putting it in a nice light. We got an offer in November, and closed at the end of December. This was not your standard run-of-the-mill sale... the house was in probate, and the executor (me) lived all the way in California.
