A-AFFORDABLE SANITATION

We needed a septic tank located in a house we just moved into so that it could be drained as it was completely filled and nominal water use caused basement floor drains to overfill and flood. We had already had the drains snaked by someone else because initially, we thought that was the problem, but they couldn't locate the tank for us. We called Affordable Sanitation to come help us and Rick Bane, Job Foreman, showed up with the owner of the company's son. I gave them the info about the previous work done and the fact that the basement floor drain had a bend or a trap ~20 feet away from the opening, so the cabled camera they might use wouldn't work there and they should try another drain opening. (Toilet drain or the side port in the 4" drain stack from upstairs). They still tried to snake the floor drain anyway, even after I told them not to. They got nowhere and finally used the port on the drain stack from upstairs to fish the camera/locator through to find the septic tank. (No snaking needed on that port) The tank was in the back yard, 6-7 feet below ground, and needed to be excavated to be drained. We were also going to put a riser on it to make the next cleaning much easier. They made an appointment to do the excavation / draining first thing the following Monday morning. They handed us a bill for the work the first day, $370.00. $185 for opening the drain (Snaking it) and $185 for locating the tank. We questioned the bill because of the snaking that wasn't asked for or needed and they said to talk to the office about it. So we left word and finally asked for the owner to call us back. (Still no calls from the owner as of this writing 12/6/2011) Monday morning, we called to find out when they would be there as we had been living with this septic problem for several days. They said that since we questioned the first bill, they weren't coming out. No calls to let us know that they wouldn't come, or to resolve the problem. They just didn't show up. Now we have to get this process started all over with another company, and are still dealing with a full septic tank and NO RESPONSE from the owner of Affordable Sanitation. I really do not recommend dealing with these people. Besides overcharging us on something that we told them not to do, and not showing up when they said they would, they also have zero customer service skills and didn't call to tell us that they weren't coming or return calls to resolve the situation. Since then, we've been talking with other people about this company and heard similar stories, and worse. Please be careful.
