It is Matt's aim to provide exceptional technical construction and remodeling, while maintaining a concentration on customer service. Matt is familiar with the world of construction, and knows that many people have had experience with crews who are rough around the edges. "Some materials I ordered came in dented so I refused them and had to wait for new ones to come in. I requested for a portion of remaining balance be paid as remaining work was minimal. Assumptions about funding another project are unfounded."
Everyone from his extraordinary carpenter, Pete Carson, to the most meticulous painter I EVER watched, Elaine Castronovo, worked hard to do exactly what I wanted, even though my instructions were "think Rock Pile". They all did such an amazing job matching in new, functional pieces to the style and color I wanted. And when I did a Columbo-ish "...oh...just one more thing..." about a 4-ft spice rack, Matt and the crew were courteous and obliging without hesitation. I now have a terrific large spice cabinet for little extra money.
At all times 8 Points were courteous, careful and always cleaned up after each phase, treated my family, my home and my dog with great respect. I'm thinking of finally putting in an entertainment center. I know EXACTLY who I'm going to call!!
Thank you, Angie's List members, for recommending 8 Points Construction.
And Thank you, 8 Points Construction, for a fantastic job of not only matching my existing kitchen, but making it everything I'd envisioned. I'm too happy for more words.

I wholeheartedly recommend this company and hope to use them in the future when I need work done again.
We have a 100 year old house, with a very small bathroom. The plan was to push the wall back 3 feet taking space from the walk-in closet/integral bedroom behind it. This also involved moving the attic access which was in that space. From quote to demolition to finished product - everything went very well. Even when we ran into other issues, everything was taken care of. Communication was great. Phone calls and emails were answered in a timely manner. Every morning, the guys would show up at 7 am (punctual) and meet with me to tell me what was planned for that day, and then I would leave for work. When my husband got home at 3:30, they would talk to him, telling him of any issues. Every day it was cleaned up before they would leave. As this is our only bathroom, Matt and the crew worked with us to make sure we at least could use the toilet through the entire project. The entire room was demolished, wall removed, fixtures gone, and all the old plaster taken away. Attic access was covered over and moved to another room. Pocket door installed giving me way more room. New wiring, new plumbing (correcting an existing problem with drainage) and ceramic tile floor and shower/tub ceramic tile were installed. They even did a great job matching the woodwork in the new bathroom to the existing house, making it look great!! The stain matches and everything. We are very pleased with the finished product (even my husband who didn't see why we needed it in the first place). LOL, now on to the KITCHEN!!
This exterior cladding project was very complex and required close coordination with architects, custom metal fabricators, scaffolding suppliers and MFG representatives for James Hardie and Nichiha building products. The exterior cladding system(s) utilize cutting edge, novel rain screen technologies and require very close attention to detail. 8 Point was very quick to grasp a full command of installing these complex systems.
Matt & Jessie took the time to ensure that all 8 Point employees were fully trained and highly competent in every respect. Matt met every construction milestone in a timely, professional manner and within budget. He consistently monitored and directed the performance of all workers to ensure the highest quality work under VERY challenging and VERY detail oriented circumstances. Matt & Jessie always had a well reasoned plan to over come project obstacles in the most efficient manner possible. I would not hesitate to 8 Point Construction for ANY project.
I would not recommend this crew for any big projects, stick to hanging doors and painting!
We had them remodel our kitchen and lay tile from the entry way through the house and their attention to detail and overall quality is lacking.
- the 12"x24" porcelain tile is layed out of level from tile to tile.
- they installed the kitchen cabinets were out of level noticable to the naked eye and only corrected once I confronted them.
- their wiring skills are lacking. Look up into my basement rafters and entry into the fuse boxes and it looks like spaghetti. (the wiring for dummies book in your tool box did not build any confidence on my end guys!)
- the fume hood they installed was not centered between the cabinets and the hole they ran the electrical through is showing.
When I confronted them about issues like the cabinets being out of level they got aggressive and wanted me to pay to fix them??
Looking back I should have completed this project on my own but my time was limited and I did not want it to span more then a month or so. Everything I look into I find that it was half assed and not done correctly.
I guess you get what you pay for! Cheap work is not good and good work is not cheap. My mistake, it will never happen again!
Don't give these boys more then they can bite off, you will be disappointed.
"8 Point Construction & Remodeling does NOT recommend Ikea cabinets! Anyone who has ever put together a piece of Ikea furniture would certainly understand that assembling an entire kitchen worth of cabinets could easily justify a hefty upcharge. In this case, and in all cases, we make every effort to avoid upcharges and did not charge additional for the assembly. It was because of the poor design of the cabinets that there was any leveling issue. Most homes have floors that are not completely level and quality made cabinets allow a contractor to adjust accordingly. 8 Point was in contact regularly with the main contact, the wife, on this job very regularly and throughout the majority of the job things were extremely civil and the homeowner expressed no displeasure. On the last day of the job the secondary contact, the husband, expressed some concerns and all concerns were addressed appropriately. The "Wiring for Dummies" book mentioned is actually a code book for remodelers which is extremely common and appropriate in the trade."
It went well. Including when we changed our minds about the wall color. We were well pleased. and would recommend the company again.
