J/M Fence & Deck Company

Overall-Very pleased with J/M Fence, their products and workmanship! Price was competitive. They showed up when promised and got the work done in one day. They also agreed to haul away (for a nominal fee) our old "temporary" fence and gate that they were replacing. I am very happy with the fence. While overall I was pleased, there are two additional comments to share. One is they are a smaller company and it did take from June until September to get the crew to my house and get the fence done. They had many projects in front of mine and had some weather and manpower issues. Second, while they remind you to get a local permit (if needed) they did not assist with the process. I had to send the borough inspector a drawing/map with the fence dimensions-on a picture from Google Earth. In the past, other contractors have pulled the permit for me. In the end it was not a major issue but a bit of a hassle at the time.

We were pleased with the overall job. However, there a few things we were not happy with most of which had to do with communication on the part of J/M Fence. They never called ahead of time to set-up the installation date. We received a call at 7 am the morning they were coming to start. This was a problem since there were some items that were not resolved, example; where gates were going, property lines, etc. My husband, luckily got home early from work the first day to find they were intalling posts on the neighbors property. Luck for us our neighbors are great people and didn't mind big holes in their yard (which did get fixed). We were told that everything would be complete by Friday, but when we got home from work at the end of day Friday there were no gates up. Tried several times to call and find out what happened. Finally got a hold of someone over the weekend to find out that they decided to wait until Monday to up the gates up. It would be better to let the post settle in the cement. Ok, but it would have been nice for someone to let us know. Monday they came to set the gates and finish the job. Now, the only problem is that the gates open the wrong direction and one gate is not level with the fence. They did come out and fix the gates. Everything looks great now. Better planning on behalf of J/M Fencing would have eliminated most of the issues we had with this job. J/M Fencing were very apologetic about everything and wanted to make everything right.

It was a good experience and I will use them again in the future.
