Darrel completed this job start to finish. He provided decking and railing samples to choose from and went through a lot of different scenarios to minimize our cost. He provided an estimate along with drawings of the plan. The deck design consisted of a 10? x 16? section under an existing roof expanding out to a 20? x 20? section which included a sunken platform for a Hot Tub. There were 2 sets of stairs and PVC railing to encompass the entire deck. New pillar supports for roof over the smaller portion of the deck were added to match and interface with the railing. The deck is approximately 40 inches off the ground, so crushed stone was added under the deck and PVC privacy lattice was added around the outside perimeter, Started by removing the old deck and railings. Bored the holes for the support posts and poured concrete in the bottom. In a few days most of the framework was complete except for an outer corner that was left open for the Hot Tub to be delivered and set on the lower platform. Next, the lower platform was constructed for the Hot Tub. Darrel transported and leveled a load of crushed stone under the entire deck. He contracted an Electrician who ran the 220 volt line and install the disconnect box for the Hot Tub. The decking was then installed except for the area where the Hot tub was to go. Darrel worked his schedule so he could be there when the Hot Tub was delivered and supervised the installation to make sure it was level and that the deck would not block the Hot Tub?s access panel. Once the Hot Tub was installed, connected and tested, the remaining framework was constructed and decking installed. Darrel framed out and installed the Lattice under the deck. He designed 2 sliding Lattice sections to provide easy access to the Hot Tub and storage under the deck. He then built the 2 stair sections and installed all the railings. Darrel works fast, but is very meticulous, checking square and level multiple times during the construction. The result of this is reflected in the last decking board which is the same width along the entire outer edge of the deck. It?s also reflected when looking down the row of railings and all the posts are in perfect alignment. He reused materials from the existing deck where possible, which also saved us money and precisely estimated the amount of materials required as there were only small unusable scraps of wood and decking remaining when the project was completed. He cleaned up and removed all the trash and old material. The finished project looks great! Oh, and another plus, the final bill was within $100 of the initial estimate!
